The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has changed its UPI rules. Now the new rules will be applicable from August 1, 2025. According to NPCI, these new guidelines are being implemented to improve the security of digital transactions in India as well as to improve speed. How will there be changes in UPI rules

• UPI users will not be able to see their linked bank account more than 25 times a day.
• UPI users will be able to check their balance only up to 50 times a day.
• In case of payment tracking, you will be able to check any transaction status only 3 times. There should be a difference of 90 seconds between every effort.
• Autope transactions will be managed with fixed time slots to reduce the crowd in the system.

Let us tell you that this change by NPCI has been made after an increase in complaints of delay and transaction failure between April and May 2025. NPCI said that the system was slowing down due to repeated checks and repeated status tracking through users. Now transactions will be intensified with new changes and rules and will not affect daily use.

No changes in UPI payment limit

However, there has been no significant change in the UPI payment limit. The transaction limit is still the same. Usually users can do up to Rs 1 lakh per transaction and up to Rs 5 lakh for some categories like health service or education.

Such users will be affected

If your mobile number has changed and is not updated with the bank, then such users will lose their access. Those who have inactively inactively inacted without updating their bank to their bank. Those whose mobile numbers are inactive, re-assign or deactivated may have to face a temporary problem in the UPI service, until they update their records with their bank. UPI users with re-assured mobile numbers may have to face problems.
