Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Vice Chief of the Indian Navy, has said that the three services of India are keeping a close eye on the growing relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan. He said that we are keeping an eye on all the situations and incidents and are taking necessary steps.

This statement has come at a time when the interim government formed in Bangladesh after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina from power has taken steps towards strengthening its relations with Pakistan. Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman General Sahir Shamshad Mirza recently met the head of the new government, Muhammad Yunus. In this meeting, trade, investment and defense cooperation between the two countries were discussed. Bangladesh’s National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Senior Secretary Lamia Morshed and Pakistan’s High Commissioner Imran Haider were present in the meeting.

What did Vice Admiral Vatsayan tell?

Vice Admiral Vatsayan also said that both America and Russia will participate in the upcoming International Fleet Review and Milan exercise. He said, “Both countries have confirmed sending their ships and some aircraft are also expected to arrive.” He said that so far 55 countries have expressed their desire to participate in these events, and this number may increase further in the coming months.

Vice Admiral Vatsayan said that there are always 40 to 50 foreign ships present in the Indian Ocean, whose activities are constantly monitored by the Indian Navy. He said, “We know where which ships are, when they arrive and when they leave. The Indian Ocean is the main route for oil and cargo transportation around the world, and there are many challenges associated with it such as piracy, human trafficking and drug trafficking.”

He said that this year the Navy has inducted 10 ships and one submarine and four more ships will be inducted by December. 19 more ships are likely to be added next year.

Director General of Naval Operations Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod said that the objective of the ongoing tri-service exercise in Gujarat coast and North Arabian Sea is to increase coordination between land, sea and air forces. Coast Guard, BSF and other central agencies are also included in this. 20-25 naval ships and more than 40 Air Force fighter and support aircraft are participating in this exercise.

IFR will be organized in 2026

The Indian Navy will conduct the International Fleet Review (IFR) at Visakhapatnam in February 2026, in which President Draupadi Murmu will review the naval fleet on 18 February.

Turkish defense companies have helped in the modernization of Pakistan’s Agosta 90-B-class submarines and have also provided military equipment including drones to Islamabad. Both countries regularly perform joint military exercises. Recently Ataturk-XIII practice was done. In this exercise, fighter teams of both special forces were involved and whose aim was to increase intermediate between them.

Turkish naval ship welcomed by Pak officials
According to the Directorate General of Public Relations of the Pakistani Navy (DGPR), the Turkish Navy ship was warmly welcomed by the officials of both the navies on reaching the Karachi port. DGPR said that during his stay in Karachi, the crew of TCG Buyukada will talk to Pakistan Navy personnel on several issues. The purpose of this journey is to increase mutual understanding between the two navies and strengthen marine cooperation.

Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Negiroglu met Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday and expressed the solidarity of Ankara with Pakistan. DGPR said that it reflects deep mutual trust and strategic partnership between two brothers based on centuries -old historical and cultural relations.
