India’s education system is now going to enter a new phase. The institution which till now we knew only as an institution producing school books, may soon become a complete university. The process of granting deemed-to-be university status to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is almost complete.

If this decision is implemented, NCERT will not be limited to just preparing books for classes 1 to 12, but it will also play a big role in the field of higher education, research, teacher training and international cooperation. This is expected to give a new direction to India’s education system.

When can the big decision come?

According to sources, the proposal to make NCERT a deemed university is now with the University Grant Commission (UGC). All necessary documents and formalities have been completed. Now this proposal will be discussed in the next meeting of UGC. It is expected that a final decision on this may come by the end of January. If UGC gives its recommendation, then NCERT will get the status of deemed university as soon as it gets the approval from the Central Government.

What will change in NCERT after becoming a deemed university?
If NCERT gets the status of deemed university, its way of working will completely change. Now NCERT itself will be able to give degrees. After becoming a deemed university, NCERT will be able to award degrees like Graduation (UG), Post Graduation (PG) and PhD (PhD) on its own. Till now the main work of NCERT was limited to school education, but in future educational research will increase, in-depth work will be done on education policy, new courses and programs will be started. Advanced training programs, modern teaching techniques, research based teaching models will be prepared for teachers, which will further improve the quality of school education.

What is a deemed university?

UGC gives recognition to all the universities in India. Deemed-to-be University status is given to those institutions which work in a particular field and demonstrate strong performance in education and research. At present there are about 145 deemed universities in the country. IISc Bangalore first got this status in 1958. Tamil Nadu has the highest number of deemed universities. These institutions have complete freedom to design courses, make syllabus, decide admission rules and determine fees.

The year 2025 is now in its final stages and the new academic session 2026 is going to start soon. In such a situation, it becomes very important for crores of school students, parents and teachers across the country to know what major changes NCERT has made in the school books and syllabus this year. In fact, after the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), India’s education system is changing rapidly. Now education will not be limited to books only, rather emphasis is being laid on giving children education related to practical knowledge, development, local culture, history and employment.

In this direction, NCERT has taken many important decisions in the year 2025. The main objective of NCERT is that students should not just study by rote, but should learn to think, understand and learn things that are useful in life. For this reason, the syllabus has been simplified, many old chapters have been removed and many new, interesting and useful topics have been added. So let us know what major changes NCERT made in the syllabus in the year 2025.

What major changes did NCERT make in the syllabus in the year 2025?

NCERT has made necessary changes in the history books starting from the year 2025. In this, many chapters related to Delhi Sultanate and Mughal period have either been removed or have been shortened and given a new form. Now more emphasis is being given in history books. Like on the history of ancient India, on the contribution of tribal and tribal communities, on Indian scientists and their works, on Indian culture and civilization. To explain the history better, a new part has been added, which has been called the dark period of history. Also, new books of classes 4, 5, 7 and 8 have been released from the academic session 2025–26. In these books, the language has been made simpler and more interesting than before, new and modern content has been added in place of old content and the names of many books have also been changed.

Emphasis on skill based studies

Under the new education policy, skill-based i.e. vocational education is now being started from class 6. This means that students will not just read books, they will also learn to work, make projects, learn skills, studies will be linked to employment and life. Its objective is to increase confidence in students, inculcate the habit of working and prepare them for the future. Along with this, to promote the thinking of Vocal for Local and Self-reliant India, NCERT has added Swadeshi module in the books. NCERT has launched two special modules on Operation Sindoor for students of classes 3 to 12. To bridge the gap between the new and old syllabus, NCERT has started bridge courses and NCERT has completely updated the books of classes 4, 5, 7 and 8.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has made major changes in the new text book of Class 7 Social Science. In this book prepared for the new academic session 2026-27, this time many chapters of history have been written in a new way. The biggest change has been in the content related to Mahmud Ghaznavi, which till now was limited to just a short paragraph, but in the new book it has been covered in detail in an entire section of six pages.

This chapter has been named “The Ghaznavi Invasions”. In this, a list of 17 attacks carried out by Ghaznavi on the Indian subcontinent is given. Attacks on the temples of Mathura and Kannauj, demolition of the famous Somnath temple of Gujarat and removal of Shivalinga from there have also been clearly described. In the earlier books, there was only a passing mention of these incidents, but now students will get complete information about why these attacks happened and what was their impact.

Information about reconstruction of Somnath temple also

In the new book, students will read when and by whom the Somnath temple was rebuilt. The book also explains why the entire cost of this reconstruction was borne by donations from the common people. Some questions related to this part have also been kept for the students, so that they not only read the history but also understand it.

The horrors of Ghaznavi’s attacks are also included.

The book also tells how a large number of common people were killed in the attacks of Ghaznavi. Prisoners were enslaved and children were sold in the slave markets of Central Asia. Based on historical sources such as al-Utbi and al-Biruni, Ghaznavi is described as a powerful, but extremely cruel and ruthless commander, who also targeted Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and many Islamic groups.

The book also has a warning message

Before the section on Ghaznavi, a message of caution has been given to the students in a box. It says that in the description of history, more attention is often given to wars and conflicts, while peaceful times and cultural achievements are less recorded. This message has been added so that children can understand history from a balanced perspective.

New content on Gauri and Khilji also

In the second chapter “Turning Tides: 11th and 12th Centuries”, the campaigns related to Muhammad Ghori, Qutb-ud-din Aibak and Bakhtiyar Khilji have also been added with new information. Earlier there was little general detail available on these events, but now this section is in more detail.

Special focus on the demolition of Nalanda and Vikramshila

This time a very detailed description of the demolition of Nalanda and Vikramshila universities has been included in the book. This part was not in the earlier version. The new book tells that monks were killed on a large scale and huge libraries of universities kept burning for months. Historians believe that this was one of the major reasons for the weakening of Buddhism in India.

Along with this, the Arab invasion and the history of Sindh have also been added. New sections on the attacks of the Huns and Arabs have been included in the chapters based on the 6th to 10th centuries. Muhammad bin Qasim’s Sindh campaign has been described as a religious duty based on 13th century Persian sources. The context of historical words like ‘kafir’ has also been explained, so that children do not fall into misunderstanding.

India’s ancient medical system Ayurveda will now become a part of the science syllabus of schools. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has included chapters related to Ayurveda in the science books of classes 6 to 8 on the instructions of the Central Government. In these new chapters, students will be given information about Ayurvedic principles of daily routine, menstruation, food and health. Its objective is that children can understand the traditional scientific thinking of India along with modern science.

NCERT gave this information

NCERT Director Professor Dinesh Prasad Saklani said that the objective of these changes is to promote holistic education. He said that Ayurveda is not just a method of treatment but a lifestyle, which emphasizes on balance between body, mind and environment. In the third chapter of the new science book ‘Curiosity’ of class 8, students have been told how proper daily routine, nutritious diet, regular exercise and mental peace are important for a healthy life.

These lessons included in the syllabus

According to the information, the Class 6 book includes principles inspired by texts like ‘Ashtanga Hridaya Sutra Sthan’. It mentions the classification of substances and twenty opposing qualities (principles of qualities), so that students can develop an understanding of the relationship between nature and the body.

Plan for higher education also

Apart from this, University Grants Commission (UGC) is also preparing Ayurveda based courses for higher education. Union AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav said that NCERT and UGC are jointly preparing an integrated course from school to university level, so that students can understand Ayurveda from a scientific point of view.

What is the government’s plan?

AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav said that special training programs are also being started for teachers, which will include workshops, handbooks and orientation sessions. He told that Indian knowledge system has already been linked to education in states like Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It is noteworthy that in the New Education Policy 2020 also, emphasis was laid on including traditional knowledge systems of India in the curriculum. Now a big step has been taken in the same direction by making Ayurveda a part of science education. This will not only help children develop scientific thinking, but will also help them understand the rich cultural and medical heritage of India.

Recently, the National Education Research and Training Council (NCERT) has published two special educational modules, whose purpose is to connect the journey of ‘Swadeshi’ from the direction of today’s self -sufficient India. These modules have been issued as ‘Swadeshi: Vocal for Local’ (for the middle class) and ‘Swadeshi: for Self -reliant India’ (for Secondary School) respectively.

In this, India’s 1905 Partition Protests Movement of 1905 has been put in front of those who read the story of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s self -sufficient India idea. The module shows that Parineeti of freedom struggle, in which the indigenous movement was not only a boycott of foreign goods, but also a wave to create Indian options. For example, the chemical industry of Bengal and the steel venture of Tarapur have been shown in this context.

The module also includes an excerpt from Prime Minister Modi’s Independence Day speech, in which he described self -reliant India as “the foundation stone of developed India”. Along with this, he urged the teachers to take “one homework”. It is homework. In association with the students, the promotion of indigenous products and Vocal for Local initiative. In the pages of history, it has also been reminded that Mahatma Gandhi gave importance to Swadeshi in the education sector and Rabindranath Tagore called it the true criterion of freedom.

The new module also emphasizes that in today’s date, Swadeshi is not just a history, but a strategic thinking. India has recently achieved remarkable success in areas like space, defense and health, which can be considered a steps in the direction of self -sufficiency. In these modules, Swadeshi has been linked to modern schemes like Make in India, Startup India, Digital India and self -reliant India. Swadeshi means not only “buying native goods”, but also to strengthen the belief that is on Indian brands. For example, Amul (Dairy), ISRO (Space) and Ayurveda (Health) have been described as brands that grow at both domestic and international levels.

Digital forms to indigenous

In the modern era, Swadeshi has also been given a digital form. The concept of “indigenous AI” is introduced in modules, which states that we should develop our AI abilities, reducing dependence on foreign techniques such as Chatgpt or Google Gemini. In this way, India will be able to maintain its data sovereignty and give solutions to local needs – language, agriculture, administration.

What is the purpose?

It is clear from this initiative that the purpose of NCERT is not just to teach history, but in today’s time, students have to give an understanding of self -sufficiency. This is an educational experiment that connects the past of India to its present and future. In this way, ‘Swadeshi’ in this new direction of education has not just an idea but a strategy has been made to prepare students for the upcoming challenges.

NCERT has added a new and special module to school books. The name of this module is Operation Sindoor, which has been prepared for children from class 3 to 12. Its purpose is not only to tell the children about Pakistan’s cowardly act and explain not only about the Pahalgam terror attack, but also to convince India’s strong policy against terrorism and the important role of common people in it. From this module, children will learn how important the contribution of every citizen is to maintain peace and unity in the country.

Pakistan’s role in Pahalgam attack

In this module, the entire story of Pahalgam terror attack is told in a simple and clear manner. It is clearly written in the book that this attack took place at the behest of Pakistan’s military and political leadership. However, Pakistan always denied its role in this attack, but evidence shows that this attack took place on its instigation. NCERT has tried to convince children that the neighboring country has been trying to spread unrest and instability in India for a long time. India has given appropriate reply to these efforts every time and has further strengthened its policy against terrorism.

These attacks are also mentioned in the module

Apart from the Pahalgam attack, there is also mention of some more major terrorist attacks in the module. These include Uri attack of 2016 and Pulwama attack of 2019. The purpose of incorporating these incidents is to tell the children that terrorism is a threat to peace and security of the whole society, not only on the border. This part will force the children to think that terrorism affects not only the soldiers or the government, but also on the lives of common people.

Operation Sindoor: A name, thousands of stories

In this module named Operation Sindoor, NCERT has said that it is not just the name of a military campaign, but it is a tribute to the martyrs who gave their lives to protect the country. It also shows the courage and sorrow of women who lost their honeymoon in this attack. Its name was chosen ‘Sindoor’ because it is a symbol of respect for those widows and solidarity of society. This name teaches children that every person’s feelings and sacrifices are included in the defense of the country.

The courage of the people of Kashmir is also mentioned

A particular part of the module is dedicated to the bravery of the local people of Kashmir. After the Pahalgam attack, the way the people there raised their voice against terrorism, it has been highly praised. It is written in the book that the locals openly stood against the terrorists and proved that the real identity of Kashmir is not violence, but peace and brotherhood. This part teaches children how important unity and courage in society. This courage of the people of Kashmir has been introduced as an example in the module, which will become an inspiration for generations to come.

India-Pakistan partition is a chapter in the history of India, which deeply shook the soul of the country. Millions of families were separated, millions of people were displaced and thousands of lives were bled. Even after 78 years of independence, the echo of that pain is heard. Now the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has taken the initiative to convey this black chapter with the truth to the new generation. For this, a special academic module has been released on ‘Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day’.

What is the specialty of this new module?

This module has been given the title of criminals of partition. It is divided into two parts, one from class 6 to 8 and the other from class 9 to 12. The special thing is that it will not be part of the compulsory book of any class but will be used as a supplementary educational material. The purpose of this is to understand the students to understand and think of it instead of just rote history. The methods of teaching it are also very interesting. This will include creative methods like making posters, writing essays, roll-play, debate and group discussion. That is, students will not only listen, but will live history with their participation.

Who was held responsible?

Muhammad Ali Jinnah – who first carried forward the demand of Pakistan.
Congress – which eventually accepted this demand.
Lord Mountbatten – Who was the last Viceroy of the then India and whose hands partition came into force. It has also been told in the module that partition was not just a political decision, but it was a decision to break the lives and dreams of millions.

Historical speech of Nehru

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s speech of July 1947 has also been included in this module. He had said, “Partition is bad, but whatever the cost of unity, the price of civil war will be much higher than that. This statement clarifies the compulsions and circumstances of that era. On one hand the country was preparing for the celebration of independence and on the other side was struggling with the pain of partition.

Real picture of partition

About 6 lakh people died during partition.
About 1.5 crore people were destroyed from their homes.
The economy of rich provinces like Punjab and Bengal was destroyed.
Jammu and Kashmir was pushed towards such instability, which later took the form of terrorism.

Why is this module important?

The purpose of this module is not just to teach history, but make it feel. When students take part in roll-play or debate, they will be able to understand how difficult the decisions must have been in that period. At the same time, we will also learn how a wrong decision can leave wound for a long time for generations to come.

Also read- Sam Manekshaw, Brigadier Mohammad Usman and Major Somnath Sharma will read the stories of students, big changes in NCERT’s syllabus

AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has also entered the fierce fierce fierce for syllabus change in NCERT. Owaisi, MP from Hyderabad, said that whenever BJP and RSS come into the government, then history changes. He said that all this should be told in NCERT book. During this, while targeting the BJP government, Owaisi said that there is a lie about partition. At the time of independence, 98 percent of Muslims did not vote. History is being hidden and its ideology is being told.

RSS people met with the British: Owaisi

Asaduddin Owaisi targeted Prime Minister Modi. He said that Prime Minister is praising RSS. In the fight for independence, the people of RSS met with the British. The Sangh family spreads hatred in this country and is praising the PM RSS. The ideology of Hindutva is completely against the Constitution of India. In the oath of RSS, there is talk of the same community. It is a matter of one religion. He referred to Shyama Mukherjee and said that in 1941, when Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was a minister in the Bengal Cabinet, Fazlul Haq was leading it, who had presented the Pakistan proposal of the Muslim League at the 1940 Lahore session and today the Prime Minister is talking about him. We were philosophically against the BJP and will always be.

Owaisi surrounded PM with the name of China and America

Asaduddin Owaisi asked the question and said that the Prime Minister should tell when the tricolor was hoisted at the RSS office? AIMIM Chief mentioned China and America and said that India is more in danger than China. India’s tariff is causing damage to India. He also gave a statement on Bihar elections and said that on Bihar elections, we will go to Bihar and our party is also campaigning.

This year, the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is being engulfed in disputes one after the other. There is not even a difficult end that the other stands in front. The latest case is related to a book of NCERT, which has created a new ruckus on social media.

The case is something that Maratha history has been ranked 22 -page in the book, while Rajput history has been covered in just 2 pages. People are angry about this difference and calling it ‘injustice to history’.

A wave of anger on social media

There was a debate on NCERT on social media. Many users expressed displeasure through posts, videos and comments. He says that it is wrong to give such less space to Rajput valor and contribution. Some people even wrote that it is an insult to the sacrifice and valor of the Rajputs.

What is the difference in the book?

According to reports, the book that is controversial about the establishment of the Maratha Empire, the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the expansion of the Maratha Empire, the administration and the warfare explained in 32 pages in detail. At the same time, only some major wars and rulers are mentioned in Rajput history, which has been covered in just 2 pages. Whereas historians believe that both communities have contributed significantly to Indian history. In such a situation, it is necessary to give balanced and detailed information, so that students get to read the right and complete history.

Not the first chance

This is not the first time NCERT is facing criticism about content. Even before this, questions have been raised about changes in the course, removing or adding some chapters. Educationists believe that it is more important than the number of pages in the book that the information is correct, balanced and fair. As the dispute escalated, the official statement is awaited by NCERT.

Contribution to history

Rajputs fought many major wars in the medieval period and faced foreign invaders firmly. The stories of Maharana Pratap of Mewar, Queen Padmini of Chittor and many other brave warriors still inspire.

Maratha Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj laid the foundation of Swaraj and challenged powerful Mughal rulers like Aurangzeb. Their strength and administrative skills are still studied today.
