Doctors say that protein is one of the essential and essential elements for a healthy and fit body. Protein is no less than a boon for our body. If you have the right amount of protein in your body or the amount of protein in your food is high, then it is helpful in keeping our health healthy. Protein builds muscles in our body, because our muscles are made up of protein and it is also necessary to strengthen immunity. Adequate amount of protein in the body makes our skin beautiful and is also necessary for the growth and development of our hair. Low amount of protein in the body can prove harmful for our body. Let us know, according to doctors, how much amount of protein does a person of which gender and age need to keep his body healthy?

How much protein does a person need daily?

How much protein a person needs in his daily life depends on many factors, including age, gender and how much work the person does i.e. physical exertion.

protein needs for men

If you are a man and do not do much physical effort in your daily life or routine, then you need about 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram of your body weight. If you are a man and do physical work in your normal daily routine, then you need 1.2 to 1.4 grams of protein. At the same time, if you do bodybuilding or are a player, then you need 1.6 to 2.2 grams of protein per kilogram of weight.

Protein needs for women

According to doctors, if you are a woman and do not do much physical effort in your daily routine, then you need 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram of your body weight. If a woman does physical hard work, like office and household work, then she needs 1.0 to 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of weight. If a woman is pregnant and giving birth to a baby, she needs 1.1 to 1.3 grams of protein. If a woman is involved in sports or is a player, she needs 1.6 to 2.2 grams of protein.

Protein needed for the elderly

To keep the elderly healthy and avoid diseases, the amount of protein in their body should be more than that of a young person. According to doctors, if the age of an elderly person is more than 60 years, whether he is a man or a woman, then he needs 1.0 to 1.2 grams of protein for every kilogram of his body weight.

Protein needs for children

The protein requirement of children is different according to each age. According to doctors, if a child is between 1 year to 3 years of age, he needs 13 grams of protein. If the child is 4 to 8 years old, he needs 19 grams of protein. At the same time, when a child reaches adolescence, he needs about 52 grams of protein.

Bharti singh pregnancy: Once again a wave of happiness is going to run in the house of comedian Bharti Singh. She is going to become a mother for the second time. Recently she had announced her pregnancy, the information of which she shared with her fans during her Switzerland trip. Bharti often gives updates related to her personal life through her YouTube vlogs.
In her latest vlog, Bharti told that her health is not well these days. Investigation revealed that the level of protein in his body was less than normal. He said that this should not happen during pregnancy, because protein is very important for the health of both mother and child. Let us tell you how dangerous protein deficiency during pregnancy can prove to be for the child and the mother.

How much protein should not be reduced?

According to Mayo Clinic, a pregnant woman needs about 71 grams of protein daily. This quantity is much more than that of normal women because at this time the body not only has to meet its own needs, but also needs protein for the physical development of the child in the womb. Protein plays an important role in building the muscles, bones, skin, hair and organs of the child. It also helps in the development of the placenta, which works to supply nutrition and oxygen to the baby.

Disadvantages of not having proper protein

Now let’s talk about what harm can happen if there is not the right amount of protein in the body. If there is not enough protein in the diet of a pregnant woman, it can have adverse effects on both her body and the baby. According to PMC, if there is not the right amount of protein in the body, then the child’s growth may slow down or his weight may remain less than normal. Apart from this, the weight of the child can also be quite low at the time of birth. If we talk about the dangers to the mother, then there is a risk of anemia, weakness, swelling and blood pressure problems in the mother. Apart from this, there is a risk of premature delivery.

Which vitamins are most needed?

If you are pregnant and there is vitamin deficiency in your body, then you will have to make some changes in your lifestyle. For example, some dairy products will have to be included in the diet. It can contain milk, curd, cheese, anything. You can also include poultry and fish in your diet. Almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pumpkin seeds are considered good sources of vitamins, so you can include them also.

Protein is a very important nutrient for our body. It not only helps in building muscles and repairing tissues, but is also necessary for the proper functioning of hormones, enzymes and immune system. This is the reason why people of every age should take the right amount of protein as per their needs.

According to health experts, if the amount of protein is taken more than required, it can increase kidney problems, while taking less protein can cause weakness and fatigue. In such a situation, let us tell you today how much protein is necessary to be taken in a day and what ICMR says about it.

How much protein is required in a day?

According to the ICMR-NIN 2020 report, a young person should take 0.83 grams of protein per kilogram of his body weight daily. That means, if a person weighs 80 kg then he should take about 66 grams of protein daily. Apart from this, people who do regular exercise or gym, depending on their physical activity and intensity, need 1.2 to 2 grams of protein per kg body weight. This means that a person weighing 80 kg needs 96 grams to 160 grams of protein.

What does ICMR say?

ICMR has fixed the daily amount of protein for different categories of people.
-For young men- For men with moderate activity, it is necessary to take 54 grams of protein per day.
-For young women- For young women with moderate activity, it is necessary to take 45.7 grams of protein per day.
– Pregnant women- According to ICMR, pregnant women are required to take 9.5 grams extra protein daily in the fourth to sixth months and 22 grams extra protein daily in the seventh to ninth months.
-Breastfeeding women- Breastfeeding women need 16.9 grams of extra protein in the first 6 months and 13.2 grams of extra protein for 6 to 12 months after delivery.

Experts’ opinion

Regarding how much protein is necessary to be taken daily, experts say that on an average a person should take 15 to 25 grams of protein in every meal so that the daily requirement can be met. At the same time, after the age of 30 or 35 years, muscle loss i.e. sarcopenia starts in the body. In such a situation, if a little more protein is taken at this age and physical activity is increased, then this process can be slowed down.
