There is a lot of discussion these days regarding the country’s biggest medical entrance examination, NEET-UG. After the news of paper leak and information received from the investigating agencies, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken a big decision and canceled the examination. Now this examination will be conducted afresh. There is only one question in the minds of lakhs of students and their parents, how is the NEET paper prepared? Who decides the question?

NTA has made it clear that students do not need to fill the form again. Only the old form filled and the examination center chosen for May 2026 will remain valid. No additional fees will be charged for this new examination. Not only this, the fees already deposited will be refunded to the students. This time NTA itself will bear the entire expense of conducting the examination.

How is NEET paper prepared?

Preparing NEET exam paper is a very confidential and multi-step process. It includes subject experts, professors and experienced teachers selected from different parts of the country. This entire team is kept secret so that no information goes out.

Complete focus on NCERT syllabus

A total of 180 multiple choice questions (MCQs) are asked in NEET from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. These questions are mainly taken from NCERT syllabus of class 11th and 12th. That means, it is easy for a student who reads NCERT well to understand the paper.

Question: How is a bank formed?

According to reports, first of all the subject experts prepare thousands of questions of different levels. These questions are divided into three parts. By combining all these questions a big “question bank” is prepared. This bank is so large that every year different questions can be selected from it.

After the questions are prepared, another team examines them. This team sees that there is no mistake in the question. Whether the language is clear and unambiguous or not as well as whether the answer is completely correct or not. Apart from this, it is not out of the syllabus. Only after this process the questions are included in the final list.

Why are different sets made?

There are different sets in NEET like Q, R, S, T or Code 11, 12, 13, 14. Actually, the questions in all these sets are the same, only their order is changed. That means all students get the same 180 questions.

Paper Printing and Security

Once the questions are decided, the paper is printed under very tight security. The entire process of printing press, packing, and delivering the paper to the examination center is monitored. Sealed packets and tracking systems are used at every step.
