NEET UG 2026: Relief news has emerged for lakhs of medical candidates across the country. National Testing Agency (NTA) has finally announced the new date for NEET UG 2026 re-exam. The exam, which was canceled after the paper leak controversy, will now be held again on June 21, 2026. In such a situation, now students have about 1 month left for preparation. Earlier, allegations of paper leaks and irregularities had come to light in many states regarding the NEET UG examination held on May 3. After investigation, the Central Government and NTA decided to cancel the examination.

Now after the date of re-exam has come out, students have started preparing again. This time is considered very important for more than 22 lakh students. Experts say that now instead of studying new topics, one should focus more on revision, mock tests and time management. In such a situation, let us tell you today which tips will be very useful in the preparation of students for NEET UG re-exam.

Re-exam will be held on June 21

According to the official information of NTA, NEET UG 2026 re-exam will be conducted simultaneously across the country on June 21, the exam will be held on Sunday. This time extra arrangements are being made regarding security. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also admitted that the paper was leaked in the examination held on May 3, after which the decision was taken to cancel the examination. It is being told that this time students will also get 15 minutes extra time in the examination. Admit cards can be downloaded from June 14. Apart from this, NTA has made it clear that the students who had appeared in the exam earlier will not need to apply again for the exam. No extra fee will be charged from any candidate, students will be able to download their admit card from the official website NEET UG portal.

What should students do now for preparation?

Experts say that now instead of panicking, students should focus on strengthening their preparation. At this time, it is most important that students recognize their weaknesses and work more on their topics, where mistakes are being made again and again.

Focus most on NCERT

NCERT is considered most important in NEET preparation, especially in Biology and Chemistry, most of the questions are directly based on NCERT. For Biology, it is being advised to revise chapters like Genetics, Human Psychology, Ecology and Biotechnology again and again. Whereas in Chemistry, it is considered important to have a strong hold on Organic Chemistry, Chemical Bonding and Thermodynamics. In Physics, chapters like Current Electricity, Modern Physics, Ray Optics and Mechanics are said to have high weightage.

Also read- NEET (UG) 2026: New date of NEET exam announced, exam will be held on June 21; Know important updates

Emphasize on mock test and revision

According to experts, now is not the time to continuously read new things. Students should focus on daily revision and mock tests. Revising at least one chapter daily, revising formula sheets and practicing MCQs can be very helpful. Students should also practice filling the OMR sheet, so that the chances of mistakes are reduced during the examination.

Adopt this strategy during the exam

Teachers say that only those who have full confidence should solve the questions first in the examination hall. It would be better to leave the exam questions about which you have doubts for later. Apart from this, after the announcement of re-exam, many students are feeling mental pressure. Experts say that good sleep, light food and a calm mind are very important at this time. Instead of continuously studying till late night, following a regular routine will be more beneficial.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a very important notice on its official website regarding the re-exam of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026. Let us tell you that for this re-exam, NTA has shared every important information related to the date, time and process of changing the city of the exam. Let us understand each step point wise.

Exam will be held on 21st June

According to the official notification of NTA, the re-examination of NEET (UG) 2026 will be held on 21 June 2026 (Sunday). The exam time has been fixed from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. Like always, this exam will also be in offline mode. This means that students will have to give their answers through pen and paper (OMR Sheet) only. This examination will be conducted in a total of 13 languages at various centers in the country and abroad, so that students do not face any problem in giving the paper.

‘Window’ starts from May 15, opportunity to change exam city

This time NTA has given big relief to the students. If a student wants to change his/her exam city according to his/her current location or convenience, then he/she can do so. For this, NTA has opened a ‘window’ on the official website. Candidates can update their current address and exam city choice from 15th May to 21st May till 11:50 pm.

How to choose the city of your choice?

According to the notice, students will be able to choose their first choice and second choice examination city while making corrections in the form. NTA will try to allot the students to the city of their choice. However, students who do not want to make any changes in their form do not need to worry. If you do not make any changes, your old exam city will remain valid and you will have to go to the same centre.

No extra fees, just a chance to improve these two things

NTA has made it completely clear in its notice that students will not have to pay any extra fees for this update. This process is completely free. Along with this, the agency has clarified that candidates can make changes in the choice of their ‘present address’ and ‘examination city’ only. Apart from this, no correction of any kind will be allowed in any other information present in the form like name, parents’ name, date of birth or category.

When will the admit card and city slip come?

According to NTA, all other necessary instructions including ‘Exam City Intimation Slip’ (which reveals the city of the exam) and ‘Admit Card’ of the students will be made live on the official website of NTA by June 14, 2026.
