Delhi government has taken an important decision regarding the admission process in its government schools....

Delhi government has taken an important decision regarding the admission process in its government schools. The Directorate of Education has issued new rules to be implemented from the academic session 2026-27, under which the minimum age of a child for admission in Class 1 has now been fixed at 6 years and the maximum age at 7 years.

This change has been made in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Right to Education Act 2009. The Education Department says that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the mental, emotional and social development of children, so that they are fully prepared for formal education.

Age limit fixed under new rules

In the new circular issued by the Delhi government, the age from pre-school to first class has been fixed as follows –

Nursery (Pre-School 1): 3 to 4 years

Lower KG (Pre-School 2): 4 to 5 years

Upper KG (Pre-School 3): 5 to 6 years

 Class 1: 6 to 7 years

school heads will get 1 monthly discount entitlement

The Directorate of Education said that the Head of School has been given the right to give age relaxation up to one month. That is, if the age of the child is slightly less or more than the prescribed limit, then the school head will be able to allow admission at his discretion.

Apart from this, students who are already studying in a recognized school and want to move to the next class will be exempted from the age limit, so that their studies do not get hampered.

Emphasis on transparency and equal opportunity

According to officials, this step will make the admission process more transparent and ensure equal opportunities for all children. Instructions in this regard have been issued to all government, aided and private schools.

Why was this decision taken,

According to the Education Department, the main objective of this change is to improve the educational quality of children and strengthen the level of elementary education. By the age of 6, children usually develop basic reading, writing and comprehension abilities, which improves their literacy and numeracy skills. Apart from this, this policy will also help in reducing the inequalities present in elementary education.

No effect on old students

The Directorate of Education has also clarified that currently students studying in Nursery, KG or Class 1 will be able to continue their studies as per the existing rules. The new rules will be applicable only to new admissions from session 2026-27. In this way, the Delhi government has made a major change in the early stage of education, trying to ensure that every child starts his schooling at the right age, at the right developmental level.

Jamia Milia Islamia University has made a big change in its examination rules. Now students will be required to pass the internal examination before appearing in the end-semester examination. That is, if the students are not passed in the internal exam, then they will not get permission to appear in the final examination.

This decision has been taken by the Executive Council of Jamia and will be implemented from the academic session of 2025-26. This new decision of the council has directly affected the preparation of thousands of students and the methods of studies.

Jamia has decided to adopt a 40 -year -old undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses from now on. Under this, students will be required to score at least 40% marks in internal assessment and also a minimum of 40% marks in final examination. It is mandatory to pass in both.

Also read: Ganesh Chaturthi is on 27 August, know in which state will be a holiday and where not?

Earlier the university had different rules for different courses. The 40:60 formula was in force in science courses. There was a ratio of 25:75 in subjects like humanities and social sciences.

But now this difference will be over and uniform rules will apply in all courses.

Who will get discounts?

However, not all courses will come under the purview of this new rule. The Jamia administration has made it clear that such courses, which come under regulatory bodies like AICTE, COA, DCI, NCTE and BCI, will be exempted from this new assessment model.

Theory exam time reduced

With this change, Jamia has also reduced the duration of the theory examination. Till now the theory examination used to be three hours, but now it has been reduced to two hours. The university says that this will make the examination process more effective and timely.

Different rules for lab based courses

According to the notification issued by Jamia, the 50:50 evaluation model will continue in lab based courses. However, students will have to score a minimum of 40-40 percent marks in both theory and practical to pass here.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday made a big statement about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He said that NEP 2020 is a visionary and useful policy, but its real success will be found only when it will be implemented correctly at the ground level. He appealed to the teachers to not only teach students, but also make them self -reliant and competent.

Chief Minister attended one day conference

The Chief Minister was attending a one-day conference based on NEP-2020 held in Srinagar. The theme of this conference was- “To empower education leaders for overall education.” Many academics of the state, school head, college principal and officials of the Department of Education participated in it.

Education has to be made according to the students

Omar Abdullah said that NEP 2020 should not make the mistake of understanding only one government document. This policy has been prepared keeping in mind the interests, abilities and local needs of the students. If it is implemented properly, then the coming generations will benefit greatly.

He said, “We have to ensure that studies in schools and colleges are not limited to books only. It is necessary to increase the ability of children to think and understand. It should be our goal not just good numbers, but also to make them a good person.”

The role of teachers is most important

The Chief Minister, especially emphasizing the role of teachers, said that teachers are the biggest link in implementing this policy. He asked the teachers to understand the new policy themselves and then teach the students accordingly. Also said that if the teacher wants, the NEP can be made completely successful.

Education should be according to local needs

Omar Abdullah also said that every field has its own problems and needs. Therefore, while implementing the education policy, it has to be kept in mind that it should be compatible with the language, lifestyle and needs of the local children. Only then education will prove beneficial for everyone.

Maharashtra News: In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti government has made Hindi language mandatory in Marathi and...

Maharashtra News: In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti government has made Hindi language mandatory in Marathi and English medium schools for class 1 to 5. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has reacted strongly to this. He said in detail that we will not allow the imperative of teaching Hindi language from the first class in Maharashtra. Hindi books in the school curriculum will not be allowed to be sold in shops and these books will not be allowed to be distributed among the students in schools. The school administration should take cognizance of this.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray wrote, “I want to say in clear words that this Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will never tolerate this forcibly. We will not allow the government to be successful in this state at present. Hindi is not a national language. It is just a state language like other languages of this country. Then why should it be taught from the first grade in Maharashtra? ”

‘Why suddenly start imposing second state language’

He further said, “The three -language formula of you should be limited to government behavior only, it should not be brought to education. States were formed on linguistic basis in this country and it has been going on for so many years. But now why is suddenly the beginning of imposing the second state language on Maharashtra?

Violation of the principle of formation of linguistic states-Raj Thackeray

Raj Thackeray said, “Every language is beautiful and there is a long history and tradition behind its construction and the state which is of the state, should be respected in that state. Just as Marathi language in Maharashtra should be respected by other linguists, similarly in other states, the language of that state should be respected by all linguists. Even Marathi people who live in other states should also consider the language of that state as their language. This is our request. But if you are trying to weaken the linguistic tradition of this country, then it is not acceptable to us. ”

We are Hindus but not Hindi- Raj Thackeray

The MNS chief further said, “We are Hindus but not Hindi. If you try to put a paste of Hindiization on Maharashtra, then struggle in Maharashtra is mandatory. Looking at this whole incident, it seems that the government is deliberately generating this struggle. In the upcoming elections, all this exercise is being done to take political advantage by creating a Marathi vs non-Marathi struggle. The non-Marathi linguists of this state should also understand this conspiracy of the government. The government has no special love for your language. She only wants to bake her political loaves by provoking you. ”

Why Raj Thackeray forced Hindi language only in Maharashtra

He raised the question and said that why this force of Hindi language is only in Maharashtra? Will you implement this Hindi mandatory in the south states? And look at, the governments there will immediately stand in protest. But the government of Maharashtra and its constituents silently tolerate all this, so force is being done here. We have nothing to do with the rest of the states, but Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will not tolerate this injustice

Raj Thackeray also said, “If other political parties of Maharashtra also have a little loyalty from Marathi language, then they should also oppose it.” Today language is being imposed, tomorrow someone else will be forced.
