Nepal Gen-Z Protest: Gen-Z protesters, who took to the streets against social media ban in Nepal, burnt government buildings, attacked the houses of ministers and former Prime Ministers, the whole world saw it. After the curfew was removed in Nepal, when the government offices and courts opened on Sunday, the long queues of the people were seen in every office. The Supreme Court also opened in Kathmandu and there was a hearing in temporary tent. It was written on its tent- Supreme Court Nepal. Nepal’s website Khabarhub has also shared some pictures of it, which everyone was surprised to see. The staff of the court was working in a normal way in the tent and a long line was seen.

Court gave dates to petitioners

In the report of the news, the cow said that the Supreme Court gave further dates to the petitioners. Actually, the cases are not being heard, so the hearing is being carried forward. There is also a problem that important documents of the court have also been burnt in the incidents of arson or have been lost in the disturbance. Nepal Bar Association President Bijay Prasad Mishra said that in these circumstances, the court cannot start work completely, but it is being slowly brought back on track.

Protesters burnt Supreme Court building

It was not known when the protest started against social media ban on 8 September in Nepal. The protesters set fire to several government offices including the Supreme Court, Parliament House, President’s Office. Not only this, he beat the deputy PM and the Finance Minister on the road and beat him. Attacked the house of former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. Former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal’s wife was locked inside the house and set fire to him, in which he died. The violence increased so much that many ministers fled from Kathmandu and took refuge in calm areas. Seeing the anger of the protesters, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned, after which the interim government has now been formed.

The Supreme Court of Nepal has said that important documents, which were part of the country’s judicial history, were almost destroyed in anti -government protests led by recent students. However, the court has pledged to resume the functioning at the earliest.

Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut said in a statement on Thursday (September 11, 2025), “We are adamant and firm on the path of justice in every situation.” The news portal ‘My Republic’ said on Saturday (September 13, 2025) as saying, “We pledge to resume the court as soon as possible to meet the expectations of the citizens as soon as possible.”

Important documents related to judicial history destroyed

The Chief Justice expressed grief over the damage to the court buildings due to arson, stone pelting, sabotage and looting during the ‘Gen-Z’ movement spread across the country. He said that important documents related to Nepal’s judicial history were almost destroyed in violence.

At least 19 people were killed in police action during protests against corruption and ban on social media on Monday. In protest, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday soon after hundreds of protesters entered the Prime Minister’s Office. The ban on social media was lifted on Monday night.

51 people died in Nepal performance

According to the latest Nepal Police data, at least 51 people, including an Indian citizen, died in demonstrations led by ‘Gen-Z’ (people born between 1997 and 2012), which started on Monday. After the resignation of KP Sharma Oli, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki has been made the head of the interim government in Nepal. He was sworn in as the interim Prime Minister of the country on Friday (September 12, 2025).
