A big political step has come to light after violent police action on Gen Z demonstrations on Monday (September 8) in Nepal. The fire of protest against corruption and social media ban has now created a stir till the corridors of power. Taking moral responsibility of violence, Home Minister Ramesh writer has resigned from his post.

According to the Himalayan Times report, Ramesh writer Prime Minister K.P. He submitted his resignation during a cabinet meeting held in Baluwatar under the chairmanship of Sharma Oli. On Monday, thousands of Gen-Z youth in the capital Kathmandu and other cities protested on the streets. Gradually the situation became violent, in which 19 people died and more than 300 people were injured. After the situation deteriorated, the government lifted the ban from social media apps late at night. However, earlier Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli refused to remove the ban.

Committee will be formed to investigate violence

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli expressed deep grief over the deaths during the protests and said that the situation worsened due to the involvement of some anti -social elements in peaceful opposition. Force had to be used to protect government property. He clarified that the aim of the government was not to completely stop social media, but to control it. He also announced that an inquiry committee will be formed, which will submit the full report within 15 days.

Curfew in Kathmandu, army deployed

The army was deployed in Kathmandu on Monday when the situation became uncontrollable. The Army has taken control of the Parliament House and its surrounding areas in its hands. After increasing violence, the administration has declared curfew in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Butwal and Ithari. There will be a complete ban on any kind of gathering, rally or movement of common people during curfew.

Prime Minister Oli clarified that the government was never in favor of banning social media and would create an necessary environment to ensure its use in the country. He said, “There was no need to perform continuously for this. Now this situation will not be allowed to move forward.”

Violence in Nepal will be investigated

He assured that this incident will be thoroughly investigated. He further said, “I want to assure the people of the country that an inquiry committee will be formed, which will fully review the events, damage, situation and its causes. This committee will submit its report within 15 days and suggest to prevent such incidents in future.”

PM Oli made this appeal to youth

Prime Minister Oli appealed that the youth and citizens should maintain peace and stay away from violence. He said that the government is committed to hear the voice of the public and find a solution to their problems.

The author submitted his resignation to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at a cabinet meeting held at Baluvatar. This resignation came between the increasing pressure on the government and deteriorating situation.

For this, people were also appealed to join tickets and other social media platforms.

The atmosphere deteriorated due to social media ban
On August 4, the government banned a total of 26 social media platforms including Facebook, X, WhatsApp, YouTube across the country. This decision became the anger of the people and increased. People started comparing the luxury life of the children of the leaders and the difficult life of the poor of the country. These posts and videos started becoming increasingly viral on social media. This protest started with ‘Napo Kids’ Hastag, now a discussion has also been made against the policies of the government and the large -scale corruption.

In fact, it is being said that the violent performances in Nepal have been inspired by the big protests against the government in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. A protestor told Al Jazeera that ‘Napo Kids’ came from Trend Philippines. In viral videos on tickets, children of Nepali Politicians were shown living luxury life.
