On this occasion, banks will remain closed in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata and Shillong. Apart from this, banking services will continue in all the cities of the country.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Total number of days banks will remain closed in January 2026 </strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Banks will remain closed in Aizawl, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on January 2 due to New Year celebrations and Mannam Jayanti. After this, banking services will remain closed in Lucknow on 3 January on the occasion of Hazrat Ali Jayanti. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In the second week of the month, banks will remain closed in Kolkata on 12th January due to Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. On January 14, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and Magh Bihu, there will be no banking operations in Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Itanagar.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The next day i.e. on January 15, banks will remain closed in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Hyderabad and Vijayawada due to Uttarayan Punyakal, Pongal and Makar Sankranti. Banks will not open in Chennai due to Thiruvalluvar Day on 16 January and Uzhavar Tirunal on 17 January.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata on January 23 on the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, Saraswati Puja and Basant Panchami. After this, RBI has announced closure of banks in almost the entire country on 26th January, Republic Day.  </p>
