According to the RBI holiday list, banks will remain closed in some cities of the country tomorrow on January 1. However, normal functioning will continue in most cities. Bank closures have been announced tomorrow in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata and Shillong.

Apart from this, banks will remain open throughout the country. In such a situation, if you live in these cities, you should avoid going to the bank branch tomorrow. Banks will remain open tomorrow in the country’s capital Delhi. There will be normal functioning in banks.

Online services will remain operational

Despite the closure of bank branches, online banking services will continue in these cities. Customers can do their work through online services. However, the work for which going to the bank is necessary will not be done tomorrow.

By using digital banking, customers can easily do fund transfer, bill payment and other work sitting at home. Services like credit/debit card and ATM etc. also remain operational on holidays.

Bank holiday of 1 January

It has been decided to close banks in some cities of the country on the occasion of New Year and Gaan-Nagai festival. On this occasion, banks will remain closed in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata and Shillong. Apart from this, banking services will continue in all the cities of the country.

Total number of days banks will remain closed in January 2026

Banks will remain closed in Aizawl, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on January 2 due to New Year celebrations and Mannam Jayanti. After this, banking services will remain closed in Lucknow on 3 January on the occasion of Hazrat Ali Jayanti.

In the second week of the month, banks will remain closed in Kolkata on 12th January due to Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. On January 14, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and Magh Bihu, there will be no banking operations in Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Itanagar.

The next day i.e. on January 15, banks will remain closed in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Hyderabad and Vijayawada due to Uttarayan Punyakal, Pongal and Makar Sankranti. Banks will not open in Chennai due to Thiruvalluvar Day on 16 January and Uzhavar Tirunal on 17 January.

Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata on January 23 on the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, Saraswati Puja and Basant Panchami. After this, RBI has announced closure of banks in almost the entire country on 26th January, Republic Day.
