Amidst the hijab controversy, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has once again given a big statement regarding Nitish Kumar. On Monday (December 22, 2025), a blanket distribution ceremony was organized by ‘Hum’ party in Gehlaur village of Atari assembly constituency in Gayaji. Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi attended it as the chief guest. While addressing the people, she once again commented on the hijab controversy.

Jitan Ram Manjhi said, “Nitish Kumar believes in us wholeheartedly and we also believe in him wholeheartedly. Just a small thing came up… When we were distributing the doctor’s appointment letter, there was a daughter in hijab, so he (Nitish Kumar) pulled down the hijab a little and asked why the daughter is covering her face, you are going to become a doctor… For this, people all over the world are saying that her hijab was pulled, if no one had the courage then Jitan Ram Manjhi has said that he So, he has a daughter and a daughter-in-law… he is 74 years old and if he explains to his daughter, then what is the big deal?”

Claimed to save Nitish from time to time

NDA government has been formed in Bihar with an overwhelming majority but in the meantime a serious allegation has been leveled against the ruling party. In the recently held assembly elections, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) party had won one seat. Now the party says that efforts are being made to break this one MLA. The claim has created a stir in the political circles.

Actually, from Ramgarh seat of Kaimur district, BSP’s Satish Kumar Singh Yadav defeated BJP candidate Ashok Kumar Singh by a margin of just 30 votes. Bihar in-charge Anil Kumar, present in the meeting, claimed that the ruling party is continuously making contacts and efforts are on to bring Satish Yadav to its side, but the BSP MLA is not going to succumb to any pressure or greed. These allegations are also considered important because there is a history of defection of BSP MLAs in Bihar.

Jama Khan changed sides in 2020

In the 2020 assembly elections, Mohammad Jama Khan of BSP had won the Chainpur seat of Kaimur district, but in 2021 he left BSP and joined JDU. After this, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar included him in the cabinet and made him the Minister of Minority Welfare.

This time too, Jama Khan has won the election from Chainpur on Janata Dal United (JDU) ticket and has once again been made a minister in the Nitish government. He is the only Muslim minister in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

In this background, BSP fears that their only MLA who will win in 2025 may also become the target of the ruling party’s strategy. Before the results of Bihar Assembly elections (2025) are announced, poster war has started in Bihar. Counting of votes is to take place tomorrow (November 14, 2025) but before that, different parties have started putting up posters in Patna.
