Reza Pahlavi released a video message on Sunday (January 11, 2026). He appealed to the people not to step back from the movement and remain on the streets. Reza Pahlavi, son of Iran’s last Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, said in his message that the current movement has weakened the repressive system of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Meanwhile, internet blackout continues in Iran, due to which information about the real situation inside the country is reaching outside in limited form. According to international news agency AP, at least 116 people have died so far during the protests and violence.

Government’s strict warning

The Iranian government has taken a tougher stance against the protests. Iran’s Attorney General Mohammad Movahedi Azad has warned that those involved in the demonstration will be considered enemies of God, under which there is a provision of even death penalty. The main reason for the protests in Iran is considered to be the serious economic crisis. In December 2025, the inflation rate had reached 42.5 percent.
