Asian Stock Market News: The impact of rising tensions in the Middle East and higher than expected inflation figures in the United States was clearly visible in Asian markets including India. In the Indian market, BSE Sensex fell by almost 1,000 points in early trading, causing panic among investors. Fall in Asian markets: Heavy pressure was also seen in major indices of Asia. Nikkei 225 fell by almost 2% and later fell by about 1.5% to 57,947.

Chaos in Asian market

It recorded a fall of more than 900 points in early trade. The Hang Seng Index slipped 1.7% to 26,165, while the Shenzhen Component Index fell 109 points to 14,386. The market remained closed due to public holiday in South Korea. Pressure was also seen in American futures. The S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and NASDAQ Composite fell more than 1% early, although losses were limited to about 0.6% with some recovery later.

Rise in Gold: Amid global uncertainty, the prices of gold, which is considered a safe investment, rose. US gold futures rose about 2.58% to $ 5,382.60 an ounce. Concern about oil supply increased after news of attacks on two ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Gold prices rose

US benchmark crude jumped nearly 8% in early trading, although it later gained 4% to $69.60 a barrel. Global oil standard Brent Crude also rose 4.5% to $ 76.17 per barrel. Energy experts believe that if tensions in West Asia continue for a long time, there could be a long-term impact on oil and gas prices. Currency Market: US dollar remained strong in the currency market.

The dollar rose from 156.29 Japanese yen to 156.04 yen. The euro slipped from $1.1788 to $1.1812. Overall, global geopolitical tensions and strong US inflation data have alerted investors, the impact of which is visible simultaneously in equity, commodity and currency markets.

Asian Stock Market Fall: Heavy selling in US technology stocks has badly affected the sentiment of global investors, the effect of which is clearly visible from American markets to Asian stock markets. American stock markets closed with losses for the third consecutive day on Thursday, while an atmosphere of uneasiness remained in Asian markets as well. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index (HSI) was seen trading with a decline of 1.13 percent or about 304 points at around 10.30 am.

South Korea’s Kospi slipped nearly 2 percent for the second consecutive day to 5,057. However, there was a mixed trend in China’s markets, where Shenzhen closed with a gain of about 0.6 percent while Shanghai saw a marginal rise of 0.1 percent. On the other hand, Japan’s Nikkei was seen trading with a strength of 0.33 percent i.e. about 175 points.

Why is the market falling?

The main reason for this decline in the market is believed to be the increasing concern of investors. Especially questions are being raised regarding the continuously increasing investment in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector. Investors are beginning to fear that when and how will they get solid returns on the huge expenditure on AI. This uncertainty has increased the selling pressure in technology stocks, the effect of which now seems to be spreading in the global markets.

The impact of this negative trend is not limited to the stock market only, but it has also affected other investment options. The shine that was witnessed in silver, bitcoin and other risk assets after Donald Trump became President again in the US elections, now seems to be fading. Investors are currently adopting a cautious approach by staying away from risk.

An announcement and panic in the market

A major reason for this sudden stir in the market is also being considered to be the recent announcement by Anthropic, an AI startup making cloud-based chatbots. The company has claimed that it has developed a tool that can perform the work of multiple software applications simultaneously, which include areas like legal services and data marketing. After this announcement, the concern deepened in the minds of investors that AI technology can affect jobs and business models on a large scale in many sectors, due to which there has been increased volatility in the market.

Earlier on Thursday, there was a sharp decline in all the major indices of Wall Street and the tech-heavy Nasdaq was especially under pressure. The decline seen in the American markets in the last three days is being compared to the situation created after some big announcements of President Trump in April, when huge fluctuations were seen in the markets.

Apart from this, weak economic data has also increased the pressure on the American economy. According to reports, the biggest decline in job openings has been recorded after 2020, while in the month of January, the highest number of layoff announcements have been made by companies since the global recession of 2009. All these reasons together have created an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear in the global markets.

Read this also: Rupee jumped before RBI’s repo announcement, kept watching Trump’s dollar, ‘played’ in the currency market

Asian Stock Market: Due to tariffs and increased tension between America and China, there was a tremendous impact on the Asian stock market on Wednesday. After the recent rise in the market, on one hand investors are retreating from investing money in the market, while on the other hand, a decline in the prices of gold and silver is being seen for the second consecutive day.

The decline has been seen from Hong Kong to Shanghai, Sydney, Wellington, Taipei and Manila. After the reduction in political tension in Japan, the Tokyo market has also declined due to profit booking.

Asian market decline

After Sanae Takaichi became the new Prime Minister of Japan, Nikkei fell by 269 points or 0.55 percent to the level of 49,046. While Hong Kong’s HSI also fell by 342 points or 1.32 percent to 25,684.

Along with this, Shanghai and Shenzhen also fell by 0.44 percent and 0.81 percent. On the other hand, South Korea’s Kospi increased by 3 points and reached 3,827 points at around 9.30 am.

decline in gold and silver

In the beginning of this year, a tremendous rise was seen in gold and it rose by almost 60 percent. But on Wednesday it fell to 4 thousand dollars an ounce. A day earlier, on Tuesday, gold had reached a record $ 4,381.51 per ounce. Whereas along with gold, a decline was also seen in the price of silver.

It is believed that this fall in the price of gold has happened due to many reasons, including the weakening US dollar, possible cut in US interest rates and the massive increase in gold reserves by the Central Bank.

Asian stock market: Due to Trump’s tariff, the global market saw an improvement in the stock market of Japan a day after the upheaval. Tokyo’s Nikkei index fell 7.8% on Monday, while on Tuesday morning it made a strong comeback and traded with a gain of about 6%. Whereas, the Nikkei 225 index climbed 5.81% or 1,809.92 points to 32,946.50. The Topix index also showed 6.20% or 141.82 points at 2,430.48. Whereas, on the other hand, the KOSPI index of South Korea was also trading above about 2 percent.

It is clear from these sub -signs that the kind of earthquake that was shown in the Asian market a day earlier is seeing some relief. Earlier, the US market saw a huge decline, where Dow Jones fell 0.91% i.e. 349 points to close at 37965.60.
