The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) has termed the claims being made on social media platforms on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) in relation to Nimisha Priya. The Ministry of External Affairs dismissed all the claims that have been asked to seek financial assistance in the bank account specified by the government in a case related to Indian nurse Nimisha Priya, who is facing death sentence in Yemen.

In the post shared by the social media user on August 19 on the X platform, a poster written ‘Save Nimisha Priya’ and some bank transactions has also been given.

Mea Factchec gave information on X

In this regard, Mea Factchec posted on X and said, “We have seen claims of demanding money in the bank account specified by the Government of India in the Nimisha Priya case on social media. This is a fake claim.” India had said on August 1 that it would continue to provide all possible help in Nimisha Priya’s case.

Nimisha hanged after intervention by Indian officials

Nurse Nimisha Priya, a resident of Kollangode in Palakkad district in Kerala, has been found guilty of the murder of a Yemeni citizen in July 2017. After which the court of Yemen set the hanging of 38 -year -old Nimisha Priya on July 16, 2025, but after the intervention of Indian officials, Nimisha’s death sentence was postponed.

Family of deceased demanding punishment of Nimisha soon

Currently Indian nurse Nimisha Priya is lodged in a prison in Sana, the capital of Yemen, which is under the control of the Iran -supported rebels. On the other hand, Yamani is demanding the punishment of Nimisha Priya, the accused of the deceased’s family members, as soon as possible. He said that under any circumstances he will not forgive Nimisha for murder.

After the death of local businessman Talal Abdo Mehdi in Yemen, his brother Abdul Fatah Mehdi has demanded a new date to hang Indian nurse Nimisha Priya accused of murder. In 2017, Nimisha Priya, a resident of the state of Kerala, India, was convicted for the murder of Talal, a resident of Yemen.

Abdul Fatah Mehdi, brother of the deceased Talal, sent a formal letter to the Attorney General of Yemen, Abdul Salam Al-Huti on Sunday (August 3, 2025), in which he appealed to immediately keep a new date to hang the accused. However, the court of Yemen initially fixed the date of July 16 to punish Nimisha Priya, accused of murder, but was later postponed.

The family of the deceased refused to forgive the accused

In a formal letter sent to the Attorney General of Yemen, the family of the deceased said that he would not forgive the accused Nimisha Priya for the murder and he is not ready for any reconciliation. He said, “We do not want any reconciliation in this case. More than half a month has passed since the execution of the hanging, but still a new date has not been announced. We demand to fulfill our rights to punish the accused.”

Abdul had sent a letter earlier to demand a new hanging date

The deceased’s brother Abdul Fatah Mehdi sent a letter on 25 July before Sunday (August 3, 2025) demanding a new date for hanging. Apart from this, he also criticized the Indian media for suggesting to give forgiveness to accused Nimisha Priya and declared any news of forgiveness as misleading. Abdul said, “Talal’s blood will not be like an object in the market of agreement.

Nurse Nimisha Priya, a resident of Kerala, has been sentenced to death in Yemen. The court of Yemen had sentenced Nimisha to death and was scheduled for the death sentence on Wednesday (July 16, 2025). Which has now been temporarily postponed. In fact, the aggrieved side living in Yemen has clearly stated that he will not forgive Nimisha Priya, accused of murder, in a recent case. With this, he has also refused to take the blood money of about 8.5 crore received from her family in exchange for Nimisha’s apology.

In fact, many other Muslim countries, including Yemen, where Sharia law is applicable, there is a lot of recognition of which law and people of the Muslim community consider it as ‘command of Allah’, because Kisas Islamic is a part of the Sharia law, which is the basis of the Quran- ‘Life instead of eye and life instead of eyes.’ This means that if a person kills, then under this law, the victim’s family has the right to forgive the killer or demand the death penalty for him. Apart from this, there is also an option of blood money in it, under which the victim families can forgive the accused by taking compensation.

What is the whole matter,

36 -year -old Nimisha Priya is a nurse from Kerala. She went to Yemen in search of a job in 2008. In Yemen, Nimisha had partnered with local citizen Talal Abdo Mehdi to open the clinic, which went ahead. Mehdi took Nimisha’s passport, which Nimisha injected Mehdi unconscious to get back, causing her death. After Mehdi’s death in 2017, the Yemen court held Nimisha guilty of murder and was sentenced to death in 2020.

Indian nurse Nimisha Priya, who is facing a death sentence in Yemen, has got a big relief at the moment. Following the continuous efforts of the Government of India, Yemeni officials have decided to make a temporary ban on their hanging.

Now Nimisha’s lawyers and family have been given a chance to talk to the family of the killed Yemeni citizen Talal Abdo Mehdi and try to reach the ‘blood money’ i.e. compensation agreement. If the victim’s family is ready for this agreement, then Nimisha’s death sentence can be forgiven.

38 -year -old Nimisha Priya, who hails from Palakkad district of Kerala, went to Yemen in 2008 to work under a nursing profession. There he started a clinic in 2015 with a Yemeni citizen Talal Abdo Mahdi.

Nimisha alleges that Mahdi seized her passport after the clinic started, tortured her physically and mentally and also captured the clinic’s earnings.

3. How did Mahdi die?

It is said that in 2017, Nimisha injected Mahdi to make Mahdi unconscious while trying to withdraw her passport in 2017. But Mahdi died due to injection overdose. In this case, the court of Yemen sentenced Nimisha to death.

4. When was Nimisha sentenced to death?

After the incident, Nimisha Priya along with her colleague Hanan cut the body of the deceased Talal Abdo Mahdi and hid her in a water tank. After this case came to light, the Yemen court sentenced Nimisha to death in 2018.

5. President also approved after Supreme Court

In 2023, the Supreme Court of Yemen also upheld the decision of the lower court. Recently, Yemen’s President Rashad Al-Ali has also approved this sentence.
