India’s Nasa-Isro Nisar Satellite is going to be launched today. This mission is considered to be a “gamechanger” in Space Science, Earth Observation and Climate Study. America’s NASA and India’s ISRO have partnered for this level high-tech radar satellite for the first time. The specialty of NISAR is its dual-band Synthetic Aperture Radar Technology, which will make the entire Earth’s survey possible every 12 days. Through this satellite, disasters like earthquake, tsunami, landslides will help in many other functions along with alert and mapping. Let’s know what this satellite will do, why it is so important and how can you see its launch live.

What is NISAR Satellite?

NISAR (NASA-Isro Syntic Aperture Radar) is the first sanitary aperture radar satellite that has been designed with two different radar techniques with two different radar techniques. Its main objective is to continuously monitor the Earth’s surface, crops, glaciers, forest areas, beaches and natural disasters.

What will NISAR work?

The specialty of NISAR is its dual-band Synthetic Aperture Radar Technology, which will make the entire Earth’s survey possible every 12 days. Through this satellite:

Earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides alert and mapping of disasters: It will be able to detect the movement of the land, crust change and displacement with great accuracy.

Glacier melting and rising sea level: NISAR will monitor Arctic/Himalayan glacier, which will make global warming monitoring and water resources prevention easier.

Crops and environment/forest health: High-government imaging of satellite will detect crop conditions, erosion, annual forest cover and illegal cuttings.

Wetland and coastal ecosystem protection: Mapping of rivers, wetlands, mangroves, disturb areas.

These data will be available to thousands of researchers, meteorologists and disaster management teams not only in India, but all over the world. With this, better and accurate decisions will be taken in the field of agricultural policy, afforestation, water management, smart cities and disaster preparation in the coming years.

How powerful is Nisar?

This satellite will be launched from India’s Srihari Space Port with an antenna of 8 meters and about 2.8 tons. Its imaging space is so high level that it is still very rare in Space Science to find the capabilities as much as it can record as small changes in the surface of the earth.

When and where will the launch be from?

NISAR will be launched this evening from Indian time (ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Center, Andhra Pradesh). This satellite by PSLV-XL rocket will be installed in low-end orbit.

How to see NISAR launch? (How to watch live)

Live Telecast will be made available for free on ISRO’s official YouTube channel and website (isro.gov.in).
There will also be live streaming of launch on NASA’s YouTube channel and nasa.gov/live.

The NASA-INRO Synthetic Apparel Satellite will be launched on Wednesday (July 30) for better assessment of dangers such as landslides and floods, along with monitoring soil moisture and vegetation on earth. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the American Space Agency NASA have tied-up for this mission.

NISAR Satellite will be launched from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Andhra Pradesh on 30 July 8:10 AM (Indian time). For this, spacecraft of pickup truck size will be used. After reaching the orbit of this satellite, its dual-frequency radar will revolve around the earth 14 times a day. This will scan all land and snow surfaces on the earth every 12 days. This will make it easier for scientists to monitor soil moisture. Along with this, threats like landslides and floods can be better assessed.

For this satellite, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has created a long-wavelend L-band radar. India’s Space Applications Center has built a short-wavelend S-band radar. From this dual-frequency design, NISAR is the first meaning satellite with two radar systems. The spacecraft with its launch vehicle has been integrated at the Satish Dhawan Space Center used for the launch of satellites in India.

Gaganyaan’s first trial to send humans into India’s space will be done by the end of this year. ISRO has started preparations for this. Recently, ISRO Chairman, V Narayanan had said that three -un -crew space missions will be tried from October this year. This will be followed by two crew trial missions. The country’s first Astronaut will fly in an orbital space flight in 2027. With the success of this mission, India will become the fourth country in the world to send Human Mission in Space. Indian Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla returned to the land on July 15 after spending more than two weeks at the International Space Station (ISS). He is the first Indian to visit ISS. However, he is the second person in the country to go to space after Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma.

Isro-nasa mission: Information in detail of accurate forecast of disasters like monitoring, earthquake and landslides of the Earth’s surface, earthquake and environmental changes will soon be possible through Indo-US joint space mission ‘Nisar’ (NISAR).

This joint mission of NASA and ISRO will be launched through GSLV rocket from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh by the end of July 2025. Its total cost is around $ 1.5 billion (about Rs 12,500 crore), making it the most expensive meaning imaging satellite in the world.

How will Nisar work?
Its dual -frequency radar technology that makes Nisar satellite special. It has two different radars-

The first S-band radar has been created by the Space Application Center (SAC) in Ahmedabad, ISRO.

The second L-band radar, which has been prepared by NASA’s California-based Jet Promiples Lab (JPL).

Both radar will keep an eye on events such as subtle changes on the surface of the Earth, polar ice, glaciers’ activity, volcanoes, landslides and earthquakes. This technique is based on “Synthetic Aperture Radar”.

ISRO-NASA partnership
The foundation of this unprecedented mission was laid in 2012 by negotiation between ISRO and NASA. In 2014, there was an official agreement between the two agencies, under which one radar was decided to be prepared in India and the other in America. According to Dr. Nilesh Desai, director of SAC Center, Ahmedabad, it is a symbol of India’s technological progress, in which our first active radar was launched in 2012 and worked successfully for four and a half years.

NASA, influenced by India’s SAR technology, proposed to develop a new and more modern satellite. NASA had “Sweep SAR Technology” at that time, which gives better resolution and coverage than normal SAR.

Future natural disasters are possible
Nisar satellite will allow earthquakes, landslides, melting of glaciers, maritime changes and other environmental activities. This satellite will imaging the same place of the Earth every 12 days, so that scientists will be able to recognize even micro-level changes. This will help not only India and America but also the whole world to predict climate change and natural disasters.

Within 1 to 3 months of launch, this satellite will start giving data, which will prove useful in the policy, disaster management and environmental protection.
