Indian cinema’s biggest film ‘Ramayana’ is now preparing to step on the international stage. The trailer of this grand film of director Nitesh Tiwari can be launched at San Diego Comic-Con to be held in July. If everything goes as per planning, then this will be the first time that an Indian mythological epic will get a global platform at this level. According to reports, the film team is in the final stages of talks with the organizers of Comic-Con.

Great response received in Los Angeles

According to the report of Mid Day, the aim of the makers is to present ‘Ramayana’ to the world not just as an Indian religious story, but as a great cinematic experience. Usually, big Hollywood franchise films show their trailers and special glimpses at Comic-Con. In such a situation, inclusion of ‘Ramayana’ there is considered a big thing in itself. Meanwhile, a special screening of the film was recently held in Los Angeles, where some portions were shown to a select audience. It is being told that a lot of positive reaction has been received from there. The audience praised the film’s visual effects, set design and large-scale scenes. This enthusiasm has further increased the confidence of the makers that this film can also attract audiences from different countries.

Strong star cast of the film

The star cast of the film is also a big reason for discussion. Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi will be seen in the role of Sita. The role of Ravana is being played by Yash, who is already known for his strong screen presence. Sunny Deol will be seen as Hanuman, while Ravi will be seen engrossed in the role of Laxman. Apart from this, actors like Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, Indira Krishnan and Rakul Preet Singh are also in important roles in the film. ‘Ramayana’ will be released in two parts. The first part will hit the theaters on Diwali 2026, while the second part is planned to be released in 2027.

Meanwhile, producer Namit Malhotra recently talked about his vision of recreating the era of Ramayana and the scale on which the film is being made.

Namit Malhotra told his vision
Speaking at the GBS ET Now Conclave, Namit Malhotra said, ‘For everyone present here, Ramayana is the foundation of our culture, our stories and our history. I’ve spent nearly two decades trying to make my mark in Hollywood. Unlike other American sectors like finance, technology or medicine, where Indians have achieved great success, we had no special identity in Hollywood. Our industry, our history or our culture were not given that much importance there.

‘Where are our roots?’
Namit further said, ‘During that journey, I was irritated to think that we are often seen from the perspective of an emerging country. This thing troubled me a lot. I felt that we should present something that shows the world who we really are, where our roots are, and how rich our culture and history are, and that too in a way that the world has never seen before.’

Proudly presenting ‘Ramayana’
Not only this, Namit further said that for this reason he chose the story of ‘Ramayana’ to proudly present it to the world. He said, ‘We have everything that the biggest Hollywood films offer. We have prepared this film at such a high level in terms of budget, technology and visuals that no one can compete with it. We are making what I would call, in 2026, one of the biggest independently financed films in the entire world.

Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in the role of Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. In July, the first glimpse of this much awaited film was released, which has greatly increased the excitement among the fans regarding Ramayana. At the same time, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, who plays Bhishma Pitamah in BR Chopra’s ‘Mahabharata’, has expressed doubt whether Ranbir will be able to play the image of Lord Ram’s ideal “Maryada Purushottam” image.

Planning was to post reaction video on teaser
Talking to Galata India, Mukesh said that he had planned to post a reaction video on the teaser, in which Ranbir is seen climbing the tree and shooting arrows as Lord Ram. He said that his team had initially advised him not to do so and said that these scenes have been generated by AI. But when he came to know that it was actually part of the official teaser, he was asked to comment on Ranbir’s role on the role of Lord Ram. While Ranbir has confessed to eating beef before, however, he refused to give a reaction and said that Ranbir may have given up eating beef so far.

Ram was not a warrior, Maryada Purushottam was’
Mukesh Khanna has also criticized the way Lord Rama is shown in the teaser of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. He said, “If you tamper, you will be trapped. You are calling Rama a warrior, he was Maryada Purushottam.” They are showing Lord Rama climbing trees and shooting arrows. Krishna or Arjuna can do this, but Ram will not do so. If Ram had declared himself a warrior, he would never ask for help from the monkeys. Only one man was enough against Ravana. “

If Ram is called a warrior, people will not accept
He further said, “As far as I am able to see, I do not know whether Ranbir Kapoor will be able to play the image of Maryada Purushottam Ram or not. He is a good actor, but an image is behind him and that is Animal, I have no objections with it. He can do so. But I think if Rama tells Rama Ram, people can not be able to accept it,”
