Normal vs Premium Petrol: These days there is a lot of discussion going on across the country regarding petrol. Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has talked about curbing fuel consumption, people are feeling that its prices may increase. However, at present no announcement or concrete information has come out regarding this. In the meantime, we will give you a little information about petrol, do you know that two types of petrol are used in India.

There are mainly two types of petrol available in India, first is normal petrol and second is premium petrol. The job of both is to drive a car, but both have different features and there is a lot of difference in their prices.

What is normal petrol?
Normal petrol is the fuel which is generally used in everyday vehicles, bikes, scooters and cars. It is also called regular petrol. In India, the octane number of plain petrol is usually 91, which is considered sufficient for vehicles with normal engines.

What is premium petrol?
Premium petrol is a special type of petrol, in which higher octane and some advanced additives are added than normal petrol. It is considered better for high-performance vehicles. The octane number of premium petrol in India is usually 95 or more.

Difference between normal petrol and premium petrol?

There is a difference in the octane number of both, which tells how easily and controlled the fuel burns in the engine.

High octane petrol works better in high-performance engines and reduces the problem of knocking or noise in the engine.

Some special additives are added to premium petrol, which help in keeping the engine clean, preventing carbon accumulation and improving engine performance.

Due to this, sometimes a slight improvement is seen in the smoothness and mileage of the vehicle.

Which petrol should be put in which car?
If the engine of your vehicle is normal and the company has advised normal petrol, then fill only plain petrol. But the company often recommends using high octane fuel in sports bikes, luxury cars or vehicles with turbo engines. Premium petrol performs better in such vehicles.

There is a difference in price also
The price of premium petrol is always 8 to 15 rupees more per liter than normal petrol. This difference may change depending on the city and company. Talking about the prices, the price of normal petrol in Delhi is currently Rs 94.81 per liter. So the price of premium petrol had increased in March, after which it has become Rs 113.77.
