Vlogger Anant Mittal, popularly known as On Road Indian, was detained in China for his comments about Arunachal Pradesh. By sharing a video in his Instagram post, he has mentioned his horrific experience in China. This incident happened on November 16, when Chinese authorities detained him for about 15 hours and then released him.

Anant Mittal says that he has no political connection with anyone nor does he have any evil intentions. He said that I have no hatred for anyone. I just love everyone and present this world to you from my perspective. I have no connection with any political agenda.

Mittal is deeply connected with North East
Anant told that he has studied in North-East for 3 years. They are deeply connected to this area. He became emotional after hearing the news of an Arunachal Pradesh citizen being detained in China. He had made a video on this, due to which this incident happened to him. He confirmed that he has returned to India safely and has uploaded the entire story on YouTube.

He further said that the video was not made under pressure and he was simply expressing his feelings. He said that if I have hurt anyone, please forgive me. I am very small in front of these big powers. In the video, Mittal has completely described his horrific experience in China.

Officials stopped as soon as they entered China
Anant Mittal told that as soon as he entered China, he was stopped by the officials of the Immigration Department. A sticker was placed on his passport, causing an alert in their system. An officer detained him and kept him with several other foreign nationals. When no one talked to him for 2 hours, he realized the seriousness of the situation.

Phone and camera confiscated
He further said that Chinese officials later took him to another room and confiscated his phone and camera so that he could not record anything. They had forgotten to check his iPad, with the help of which they recorded the video. In which he is seen saying that hours have passed, but no explanation was given. He told the officers that he was feeling thirsty and scared of not knowing what would happen next.

Vlogger kept asking for food again and again, got nothing
The vlogger was given water once after several hours. He repeatedly asked for food, but did not get anything. Similarly 12-13 hours passed. In the video, he supported a citizen of Arunachal Pradesh detained in China. He realized that perhaps this is why he has to suffer all this. The vlogger feared that he might never be able to return to India. The vlogger said that he hopes that the Indian and Chinese embassies will understand his fears. He held himself responsible for posting the video of Arunachal. He said that we are very small people, we have no status.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed on Tuesday (December 23) that if the population of people from neighboring country Bangladesh increases by 10 percent in Assam, then his state can automatically join Bangladesh. Speaking to reporters after an official program in Guwahati, Sarma said that he has been raising concerns about uncontrolled migration for the last five years.

The Chief Minister of Assam said that 40 percent of the population in his state is of Bangladeshi origin. If it increases by another 10 percent, we will automatically join it. He made this statement in response to the alleged comment of a Bangladesh leader regarding merging the North-East with Dhaka.

Controversial statement of Bangladesh leader
Earlier this month, Bangladesh’s newly formed National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah had reportedly said that Dhaka should isolate India’s northeastern states and support separatist elements if New Delhi attempts to destabilize Bangladesh. Abdullah claimed that the northeastern region is geographically insecure as it depends on the narrow Siliguri Corridor, also known as Chicken Neck, for connectivity with mainland India.

Himanta Biswa Sarma’s concern about Muslim population
Himanta Biswa Sarma had recently reiterated his previous warnings about migrants, claiming that other communities in Assam would not be able to survive if the Muslim population exceeds 50 percent. Speaking at an event, he had said that the native population of Assam is facing an existential crisis due to uncontrolled migration for decades.

According to Sarma’s estimates, Assam’s Muslim population was estimated to be around 38 percent in 2021. Due to continuous 4-5 percent decadal growth rate since 1961, it may increase up to 40 percent by 2027. He argued that identity politics in Assam has become not an option but a compulsion for survival.

In today’s time, when most of the people roam in crowded places as seen on social media, now a new trend is going on. Now people do not consider traveling just to be photographed or to visit famous places, rather they want to go to a place where there is peace, culture, and a personal connection. Many such hidden gems have been talked about in the SkyScanner travel report for 2026, where the interest of Indian travelers is increasing rapidly. It is clear from this report that now people are planning trips within their own country more than international trips. The places which are considered best in this trend are North East destinations. So let us know which places are considered to be the best hidden gems of India to visit in 2026.

Top North East destinations to visit in 2026

1. Jorhat, Assam: Jorhat is situated in Assam, which is called the heart of North-East India, which is now not a small town but has become a new travel trend. At a short distance from Jorhat is Majuli, which is the world’s largest river island. Here you will get to see the real Assamese culture, tribal life and simplicity. The lush green tea gardens here are not only worth seeing, but they also have research centers like Toklai where you can learn how your tea is made. You can connect with the religious traditions and arts of Assam by visiting the Vaishnav monasteries present here. Now eco-lodges and boutique stays have also been built here which take you closer to nature.

2. Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: Varanasi has been considered the spiritual center of India, but now this city is emerging in a new style. The youth are also getting attracted towards this city, not just for worship, but to experience its culture, art, music and culinary traditions. Now on the banks of Ganga, you find not just crowds, but beautiful and quiet boutique stays which create a special connection with the city. Knowing the history while roaming in the streets of Varanasi, and enjoying street food like chaat, kachori, malaiyo, is an experience in itself. Is. Now small retreats related to yoga, music, writing and art have also started taking place here. The streets, markets, and experiences like Ganga Aarti give today’s travelers a deep, personal travel experience.

3. Majuli Island, Assam: This island, which can be reached by boat from Jorhat, seems to be a completely different world. The tribal traditions, mud houses, hand-made masks and traditional dances here give a completely unique experience. Here, clean river, peaceful environment and culture without ostentation are its biggest strengths.

4. Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh: If you are really looking for something unique and serene then Ziro Valley of Arunachal Pradesh is perfect for you. Mist-covered hills, rice fields, and the unique lifestyle of the Apatani tribe make it a true hidden gem. The Zero Music Festival held here every year is gradually becoming famous all over the world.

5. Champaran, Bihar: Gandhiji’s first experimental land: Very few people know that Champaran of Bihar is emerging not only in history books but also as a meaningful journey. By going here you can know how the first movement was started here. Champaran is considered the best in this trend.

Muhammad Yunus Controversial Statement: Anti -India activities have intensified since the removal of Sheikh Hasina in India’s neighboring Bangladesh. On one hand, minorities, especially Hindus, are being targeted in Bangladesh. At the same time, Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, is constantly making inflammatory statements about the North East.

Yunus also made a controversial statement in Beijing in the past regarding the North East States of India (North East). Now after meeting with Indira Rana, Vice President of the House of Representatives of Nepal’s Parliament, he posted on the social media platform X and again mentioned the Northeast India.

Yunus’s inflammatory rhetoric about North East

A post written by Mohammad Yunus’s office states that Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government, has called for an integrated economic strategy between Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and seven northeastern states of India, which has emphasized the possibility of cooperation crossing in hydroelectric, health service and road connectivity, ie Bangladesh’s interim government’s interim government’s interim government’s head of interim government Called and said that these countries and the Northeast of India will be more beneficial to stay together (with these countries).

Controversial statement was also given in Beijing

This statement of Mohammad Yunus is disputed because Seven Sisters State (Northeast) is an integral part of India. The Modi government is continuously working for the development of North East. Mohammad Yunus says that these states of Northeast India will benefit more than joining these countries than living alone. By making such rhetoric, Yunus’s intention is to incite these states. What do you want to say the head of the Bangladesh government by referring to the Northeast again and again?

When Mohammad Yunus went to Beijing, during an event there, he raised controversy by calling the Northeast India a land lock (surrounded by land). Yunus had said that there is no way for seven states to reach the sea. We are the Ocean’s Guardian of Ocean for this entire region.

Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, invited China to invest in Bangladesh. He described the states of North East of India as landlock. Mohammad Yunus recently arrived on a four -day visit to China. A video of him is going viral on social media, in which he is seen saying, ‘The states of India’s North East, also known as Seven Sisters, are completely landlocked. They have no way to reach the sea directly. We are the only patron of the sea in this entire region ‘.

He said that, ‘There is a big opportunity for you (China). We are calling you Bangladesh and expand your business. Here you can make many things and send goods from here to the whole world.

‘What do 7 states of India mean to say this’?
Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Economic Advisory Council, shared the video of Mohammad Yunus on social media platform X and targeted fiercely. He wrote, ‘It is very interesting to see that Mohammad Yunus is talking about 7 states of India in China and is inviting China to invest in Bangladesh but what does he mean to say that 7 states of India are landlocked’?

Interesting that yunus is making a public appeal to the basis that 7 states in India are land-locked. China is welcome to investment in Bangladesh, but what exactly is the significance of 7 Indian states being landlocked? https://t.co/jhqadizi9s

– sanjeev sanyal (@sanjeevsanyal) March 31, 2025

‘We do not need Bangladesh’
India’s Defense Expert has also strongly criticized it for Mohammad Yunus’s landlocked statement. India’s Defense Expert Dhruv Coach said on Monday (March 31, 2025) that he is not increasing business with India and it is our matter of connectivity, this is our case, this government will see what to do. He said that the Kaladan river project will be completed soon and we do not need Bangladesh.
