Officials stopped as soon as they entered China
Anant Mittal told that as soon as he entered China, he was stopped by the officials of the Immigration Department. A sticker was placed on his passport, causing an alert in their system. An officer detained him and kept him with several other foreign nationals. When no one talked to him for 2 hours, he realized the seriousness of the situation.

Phone and camera confiscated
He further said that Chinese officials later took him to another room and confiscated his phone and camera so that he could not record anything.
