NPS Pension Calculation: At the age of 30, most people are at that stage of their career where their income becomes stable and people start thinking seriously about planning for the future. This is the age where preparations for retirement should be started so that in future money worries can be eliminated to a great extent.

In today’s time, NPS i.e. National Pension System is considered a strong option for long term. The most common question is that if you want a pension of Rs 50 thousand every month after retirement, then how much will have to be invested at the age of 30. Let us tell you what is its calculation.

How much fund is required for a monthly pension of Rs 50 thousand?

If you want a pension of Rs 50 thousand every month after retirement. So the annual pension will be around Rs 6 lakh. In NPS, generally 40 percent of the total amount deposited at the time of retirement has to be mandatorily invested in annuity. Assume that an annuity gives an average annual return of 6 percent. In such a situation, to get an annual pension of Rs 6 lakh, annuity fund of about Rs 1 crore is required.

Also read: Fake notes worth Rs 34 lakh deposited in banks in just 6 months, what to check while taking cash?

This means that your total NPS corpus at the time of retirement should be around Rs 2.5 crore. So that 40 percent goes into annuity and the remaining amount can be withdrawn in lump sum. This calculation is based on long term average returns and the rules that are in place at present. Therefore these figures may fluctuate slightly.

Also read: How are third party agents defrauding EPF account holders? Know easy ways to avoid these

How much should I invest every month at the age of 30?

After the fund, now the question comes that how much amount will have to be invested every month if you start investing from the age of 30. Suppose you retire at the age of 60, that means you have about 30 years of time. If NPS gives an average annual return of 9 to 10 percent. So to create a corpus of Rs 2.5 crore, one may have to invest around Rs 12 thousand to Rs 14 thousand every month. If you increase the investment amount a little every year, for example by increasing the contribution as the salary increases, then the initial burden can be further reduced. The real advantage here is time. The sooner you start, the bigger the fund will be created with a small amount.

Also read: How can you drive a taxi with your electric car in Delhi, what changes is the government making in the rules?

New NPS UPS Investment Options 2025: Keeping its employees in mind, the Central Government on Friday announced two new investment options in National Pension System (NPS) and Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).

Under this option, government employees will be able to avail more options in NPS and UPS like private sector employees. Since this decision, the faces of the employees have blossomed. Central employees had been demanding this from the Central Government for a long time. On which the government has approved on Friday.

What is the new scheme?

Two new investment options in NPS and UPS schemes have been approved by the Finance Ministry. Under this, Life Cycle and Balanced Life Cycle Scheme has been started. On this change, the Finance Ministry has said that these new options will provide more convenience to employees in retirement planning than before.

Also, employees will be able to manage their retirement fund as per their needs. Which simply means that employees will be able to manage their retirement plans with more flexibility.

What facilities will be available in investment options?

Talking about new options, if life cycle investment option is selected, maximum investment of 25 percent in equity will be allowed. This investment will gradually reduce from the age of 35 years to 55 years of the employee. Whereas, if we talk about balanced life cycle investment option, investment in equity will start reducing from the age of 45 years.

If the employee wishes, he can allow his retirement fund to remain in equity for a longer period. With these new investment options, employees will have more control over their investment options. They will be able to make their retirement better as per their convenience.

Also read: GST registration will become easier from November 1, approval will be available in just 3 days

Rules change from 1 October: Some changes are made in the rules on the first date of every month. In this sequence, some rules are going to change in the first date of October. Today, we are going to give this information about this through this news.

People associated with non-government sector benefit more

First of all, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has announced a major improvement in the National Pension System (NPS), which will be applicable from October 1, 2025. This new rule, made in the name of multiple scheme framework, will be more beneficial for subscribers associated with non-government sector.

Actually, PFRDA released a draft on 16 September 2025, which mentioned the changes related to NPS. Its purpose is to make NPS especially more flexible and convenient for people associated with non-government sector. These include corporate professionals and gig workers.

Change in charge of pension schemes

PFRDA has changed the fees charged by Central RecordCipping Agencies for pension schemes like National Pension System (NPS), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) and NPS Light. Under this, on opening PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number), government employees will now have to pay Rs 18 for E-PRAN kit and Rs 40 for offline PRAN card. No fee will be charged from the zero amount account nor any additional fees will be charged on the transaction.

Investment in multiple scheme from a pan

Another rule has been changed to make NPS more simplified. Where the first NPS was allowed to invest in only one scheme from a PAN number. At the same time, now under the Multiple Scheme Framework (MSF), you will be able to invest money in many different schemes.

With this, NPS subscribers will be able to earn more profits in their pension funds by investing in different schemes according to their need and their needs. If your capacity to take risks is high, then you can invest in high risk schemes. In this, you will be given an option to invest in equity up to 100 percent. If you want to take low risk, then you will be able to invest in medium risk scheme. In every scheme you will be given two options so that you can choose them according to your choice and ability.

Entry-exit limit

The regulator has also proposed extensive amendments in the exit rules under NPS. These include redefining the word “exhaust” to include landscapes such as NPS Vatsalya and citizenship renunciation, increase age limit for entry and exit, and end the need for prior notice to postpone annuity or lump sum.

The definition of Exit will also be changed under the change in rules. Provisions of separate exit will be fixed for NPS Vatsalya and Non-Government Pension Scheme. The age limit for entry and exit will be increased, the limit of Lumpmas withdrawal will be increased and automatic continuination will also be available.

Online gaming rules will be effective from October 1

Union Information and Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Thursday that new rules related to online gaming will be applicable from October 1. He said, “We have been associated with this industry for almost three years. After the law was enacted, we have started dialogue with all the stakeholders including gaming companies, banks and other related institutions.

He informed that a final round will be discussed with all the stakeholders associated with the industry before the law is implemented. He said, “If the industry feels that they need more time, then we are ready to consider it. Our government practically believes in a high counseling process for every work.” Let us know that the online gaming act was approved by President Draupadi Murmu on 22 August 2025.

Switch from ups to nps: The government has introduced one-time, one-way switch facility for those employees of the central government, who want to return to the National Pension System (NPS) from Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). The Finance Ministry has said in a statement that people who have retired under eligible employees and NPS can join NPS from UPS by 30 September 2025. This facility will be available once and after that it will not be possible to return back to UPS again.

Ministry has laid some conditions

The ministry also said that employees who choose to remain in NPS cannot choose the option of UPS after September 30, 2025. The Ministry has laid down some conditions to switch to NPS from UPS. These are the conditions- eligible employees can switch to NPS only once and do not switch back to UPS. The employee will have to choose this option at least one year before retirement or at least three months before voluntary retirement (VRS). Apart from this, employees against whom disciplinary action is going on will not be able to avail this facility.

What is Unified Pension Scheme (UPS)?

The Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) is an option for central government employees under the National Pension System (NPS) so that they can get a sure payment after retirement. The UPS has come into force from 1 April 2025.

Who are eligible for UPS?

Central government employees under NPS are eligible to apply for UPS before the time limit. The deadline for choosing UPS is September 30, 2025 for eligible employees and former retired people under NPS.

When can you switch to NPS from UPS?

Employees who initially opted for UPS are now being given an opportunity to switch back to NPS, but only when they fulfill certain conditions.

What is the minimum sure payment under UPS?

The monthly minimum pension under this scheme is Rs 10,000. Under the scheme, the employee will be given pension based on the duration of his service. If an employee completes the service of 3 years or more, then he will get 50 percent of the average basic salary of the last 12 months as a pension. At the same time, the pension amount for those serving for 10 to 25 years will be fixed in the ratio of years of service.

While doing the job, everyone has a plan to retire. In this way, he will run his life after retirement. If you are also employed and are doing retirement planning. So you must have heard about options like NPS and UPS. In the year 2004, the National Pension System i.e. NPS started in the country.

So this year, the Unified Pension System i.e. UPS has been started by the government. Many people think that it is difficult to change after selecting an option. But it is not like that you also get a chance to change it. Let us tell you how many times you can get the facility that changes NPS from UPS.

How many times can you change NPS from UPS?

Employees are being provided with the government to make changes in the National Pension System i.e. NPS from Unified Pension System i.e. UPS. But this discount will not be received again and again. The government has made it clear that the opportunity to use this decision will be given only once. This means that you have to take a decision keeping in mind the needs of the future and in mind the needs of the future.

Also read: If we win 50 lakh rupees from Dream 11 to 2024, will you have to pay tax now, how will calculation be done?

Once switching from UPS to NPS, you will not be allowed to return to the old system. So if you want to change. So check the benefits and losses and only then take the decision. Because after retirement, your pension will be fixed. So first understand thinking and then switch.

Will get a chance till this date

According to the data given by the government, till July 20, about 31555 central employees in the country have selected the UPS option. Under UPS, there are many benefits with guaranteed pension. But still these employees have a chance to go back to NPS. This window is open to these employees by 30 September 2025.

These employees can go back to NPS instead of UPS. After this, they will not get this opportunity. Apart from this, let us tell you if a normal employee did not choose the option of NPS till 1 year before his retirement or 3 months before volunteer retirement. Then he will get pension through UPS only by default.

Nps vatsalya: All parents want them to do something like this for their children. So that they do not have to face problems in their lives. It is not only their responsibility to secure the future of your children but also the first priority. Planning is already very important for children studying, married and for big expenses coming in their lives.

In which inflation is increasing. So in such a situation, this planning becomes even more important. If you invest in a correct plan. So you can prepare a good fund for the children till they grow up. Which can be useful for them in future. The government has launched NPS Vatsalya Yojana for this. Which is a very beneficial scheme for the future of children.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9x55jea8gu

You can start investing from 1000 rupees

NPS Vatsalya Yojana is a format of the National Pension Scheme. Which was started in September last year. This is especially made for the children of the minor. In this scheme, parents or parents of children can open an NPS account for their minor children. And till the age of 18 years, you can deposit a fixed amount every month or throughout the year. Explain that investment can be started with one thousand rupees in this scheme and no limit for maximum investment has been fixed in it. Let us know that this account turns into an NPS account after the age of 18 years.

Also read: Good news! Temporary employees of this state will get a big gift, two and a half lakhs on retirement

Get good returns

You also get a lot of return on the amount deposited in NPS Vatsalya Yojana. Talking about long term in this scheme, it is expected to get a return ranging from 9.1 5% to 10%. Not only this, you can also withdraw some part of the amount invested in this scheme. For example, you can withdraw up to 25% for studies or for an emergency situation. Tax exemption is also given to you in the scheme.

So much money will be deposited for 18 years

If you follow the annual average of 10% return in NPS Vatsalya Yojana. According to this, if you deposit 15 thousand rupees every month for a 3 -year -old child for 15 years. So till the age of 18 years, about 60,24,318 will be deposited in the account at the rate of 10% average return in this account. Which will be a fine-work amount.

If the same question in your mind is that how to save tax after increasing salary, then it is a matter of relief that some such changes have been made in the budget 2025, which can also save tax on income of more than Rs 12 lakh. How? Let us understand in easy language how you can reduce your tax liability with the help of NPS and VPF.

What the new tax system says?

The tax exemption limit has been increased from 7 lakh to 12 lakhs under New Tax Regime in Budget 2025. This means that if someone’s annual income is up to Rs 12 lakh, then that standard deduction will not pay any tax after a tax exemption of 75,000 and 60,000. But the problem comes when your salary is above it. Can tax be saved even then?

 here comes NPS

Yes, the government has given great relief in the National Pension System (NPS). Now under Section 80CCD (2), the employer (employer) can contribute up to 14 % of your basic salary in NPS, which will be completely tax-free. Earlier this limit was 10 percent.

This means that if your salary is 13.7 lakhs annually and your basic salary is 6.85 lakhs, then your employer collects 14 % of it i.e. 95,900 NPS and you take a standard deduction of 75,000, then your taxable income can be zero."Text-Align: justify;"> So what will happen to VPF?

Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF) i.e. the scheme of Provident Fund in which you can deposit up to 100 percent of your basic salary and DA. The interest rate in this is 8.25 percent and it is a fully government guarantee investment.

But one of the big things in the new tax regime is that the exemption received under section 80C does not apply. That is, even if you invest money in VPF, then your taxable income will not be reduced. Yes, it is so important that the interest available at VPF contribution up to 2.5 lakhs is tax-free. But the interest on the amount above it will be taxable.

 nps vs vpf

<tad>

feature </ th>

nPS (new regime) </ th> vpf (new regime) </ thi> </st>

up to 14 % of basic (employer)

not

Applicable section

80cc (2)

80c (not applicable in the new regime)

tax-free

up to 2.5 lakh tax-free

lock-in period

till the age of 60 years

5 years

</ TR>

</ Table>

 which scheme is better?

If you come under new tax regime, then NPS is more beneficial for you. Especially when your salary is more than 12 lakhs. The reason for this is that the employer contribution has been reduced to 14 per cent tax free, which can reduce your taxable income.

Although VPF is also a safe and stable interest giving option, it does not give new tax benefit. However, if you are in old tax regime, then you can get the benefit of tax deduction on both NPS and VPF.

Save tax from NPS, increase saving from VPF

If your salary has gone up above 12 lakhs after the hike, then there is no need to panic. You can make your taxable income up to 13.7 lakh tax-free by using the employer contribution in NPS wisely. VPF, although not a means of saving tax (in the new system), still remains a great savings tool for a long period.

Inflation is increasing and the stability of the job is decreasing, in such a situation, the preparation for retirement is no longer a luxury, it has become a need. Two popular options in India are helping people in this direction, National Pension System (NPS) and Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF). Both schemes promise to provide financial security after retirement, but there is a big difference in their working methods, returns, tax benefits and risk.

 what is NPS?

National Pension System i.e. NPS is a government, market-linked investment scheme, which is open to all Indian citizens aged 18 to 70 years, whether you are salad or self-prom. In this, you can divide investment into shares, government bonds, corporate bonds or other options as per your choice.

This scheme gives the investor the freedom to choose the fund manager and asset allocation of his choice. If you are young and are investing for a long period, then you can get better returns by investing in equity up to 75 percent through active choice. Its average annual return is considered from 8 per cent to 12 per cent.

 what is VPF?

VPF is an extension of the Voluntary Provident Fund, EPF (Employees’ Provident Fund). It is only available for those salary people who are already registered in EPF. In this, the employee can contribute up to 100 % of his basic salary and dearness allowance.

VPF returns are fixed, which is about 8 percent to 8.5 percent annually and it is a fully government guarantee scheme. Its money is managed by EPFO (Employees & rsquo; Provident Fund Organization), which makes the risk zero.

 Benefits of tax and withdrawal

Both NPS and VPF get tax exemption, but NPS gets an additional 50 thousand rupees under Section 80CCD (1B). At the same time, if you invest in VPF for 5 consecutive years, then interest and maturity amount gets tax-free.

VPF is more flexible in terms of withdrawal, you can withdraw money if needed after 5 years. On the other hand, NPS remains lock till the age of 60 years and it is necessary to take annuity (monthly pension) on maturity.

 what is better for whom?

NPS: If you do your own business or want more returns for long periods even while in a job, then NPS is a better option. Along with tax planning, it also gives retirement security.

VPF: If you want to avoid risk and like a stable, government guarantee return, then VPF will be right for you.

Some people can also take advantage of both schemes, stability from VPF and growth from NPS.

Explain in easy language, if you are young and want to invest for long periods, then NPS can be better for you. But if you do not want to take much risk and give priority to safety, then you can choose VPF.

Let us tell you through this news how these three are different from each other so that you do not have trouble in choosing the right plan according to you.

Public Provident Fund (PPF)

PPF is a government scheme that allows savings in long term. In this, you can invest a minimum of Rs 500 and a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh every year. It has been designed keeping in mind those who are looking for a risk free investment option with tax benefit.

Its specialty

The maturity period in PPF is 15 years. It can be extended in a 5-5 year block.

The government gives interest at the rate of 7.1 percent annually on the PPF account. The interest rate on PPF is determined by the government every quarter.

This risk is free due to being supported by the Government of India.

There is a tax exemption on investment up to Rs 1.5 lakh annually under Section 80C on PPF.

There is no tax on interest in interest.
Loss

The PPF comes with a lock in period of 15-sight. After the completion of 15-year lock-in period, you can close the account and withdraw all the money from the PPF account.

Return on this does not move much further than inflation.

Employee Provident Fund (EPF)
