Even though the market is going on a decline, those investing in NPS (National Pension System) have got tremendous returns. All equity funds included in Tier 1 of NPS have given annual returns of 18% to 20% in the last 5 years. LIC Pension Fund has given a 5-year-old return of 19.2%, HDFC 18.8%, and TATA 16.5%. Landless ₹ 1 lakh investment reached ₹ 2.4 lakh in 5 years, while a fund of about ₹ 10 lakh was prepared from a monthly SIP of ₹ 10,000. NPS is a market-linked pension scheme in which you invest regularly for retirement. At the time of retirement, 60% of the amount can be withdrawn tax free while 40% essentially go into annuity. NPS has low options (just 11 active funds) compared to Mutual Funds, but are performing brilliantly in terms of returns.
