Politics has once again heated up regarding Amritpal Singh, MP from Khadur Sahib, Punjab and head of ‘Waris Punjab De’ organization. Balwinder Kaur, mother of jailed Amritpal Singh, on Thursday questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as to why her son is not being brought back from Assam to Punjab despite the end of his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).

The video of the incident has also surfaced. In the video, Balwinder Kaur is heard telling the Chief Minister, “Listen to me for a minute. You are also the son of a mother. I am Amritpal’s mother. Why don’t you bring Amritpal to Punjab even after his custody under NSA has ended?”

This video of his is now becoming increasingly viral on social media and political reactions have also started emerging regarding it.

Amritpal is lodged in Dibrugarh jail of Assam.

Let us tell you that Amritpal Singh was arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) in April 2023. Since then he is lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail of Assam.

Although his custody under NSA ended on 22 April 2026, the very next day he was arrested in the 2023 attack case at Ajnala police station. At present he is lodged in Dibrugarh jail and action is going on in the same case.

High Court had given instructions for virtual appearance

Last month, the Punjab Haryana High Court, while hearing the petition of the Punjab government, had directed that Amritpal Singh will be produced virtually in the lower court of Amritsar in this case.
