Serious questions raised on OSM system

The petition said that CBSE had implemented the on-screen marking system for scanning and digital evaluation of answer sheets for the first time this year. But after the results were released, students from all over the country lodged complaints that there were many errors in their answer sheets. These included problems like blurry scanned copy, missing of some pages, incomplete uploading and wrong matching of answers. The board’s counsel said that NSUI is a student group associated with a political organization and this issue should not be given a political color. CBSE OSM Controversy: NSUI organized a big protest in the capital Delhi against the OSM policy of CBSE. Hundreds of workers took part in the march from Indira Bhawan to Shiksha Sadan and raised slogans of “We Reject OSM” and demanded immediate withdrawal of the policy. The protesters allege that the new system is increasing confusion and mental pressure among the students.

NSUI workers tried to raise the voice of the students by taking out a march from Indira Bhawan to CBSE headquarters Shiksha Sadan. During the demonstration, a large number of police forces remained deployed outside the CBSE office. Patna University Student Union elections for session 2025-26 are going to be held today on Saturday (28 February). Elections will be held today itself and the counting of votes will also be completed by late night. This time the university administration has made the time table half an hour earlier. Today voting will start from 8:30 am and will continue till 2:30 pm. Common students of the university will vote in this election.

The counting of votes has been scheduled to start at 4:10 pm today and the results will be released late in the night. Counting of votes will take place in the Arts-Crafts College. However, if the Valet Walks from all the polling stations do not reach the counting venue by the stipulated time, the counting of votes will not be started. Chief Electoral Officer Prof. Shankar Kumar said that voters will mark the cross with a ball pen in front of the serial number of the candidate. Voting will be canceled if plus or any other mark is placed, he said, adding that a total of 41 polling stations have been set up for 14 electoral units. The work of delivering ballot boxes to polling stations had started from Friday. 20036 student voters will use their votes in this election.

There will be elections for a total of five posts for Central Panel and 22 posts of Counsellor. The ballot boxes of the central panel are kept in different colours. Voting has to be done in the same color ballot box as the ballot paper. A voter will vote six times in different ballot boxes. After the completion of the voting process, the ballot paper will be sealed at the polling station. Tight security arrangements have also been made for the elections. Special arrangements for security have been made especially in Patna Women’s College, Patna College, Science College, BN College and Magadh Mahila College where there are more polling stations.

Presidential debate was organized in Science College on Thursday for the elections. The election campaign came to an end with the presidential debate. Opponents say that just because they belong to the general category, the students will be considered guilty and due to strict legal provisions, they may also get trapped in false cases.

Senior educationist of Jodhpur, Prof. Dr. Kshitij Maharshi said that “Everyone has the right to protest in a democracy, but confusion is being spread regarding UGC-2026.” He further said, “This guideline has been brought after studying the data of the last five years across the country. If there is a need for change in it in future, then the central government can amend it.”

Opposition of Marwar Rajput Mahasabha

Marwar Rajput Mahasabha President Hanuman Singh Khangata termed UGC-2026 as completely wrong and said, “The gold society is being suppressed in this rule. If there is no change soon, we will protest.” He said, “Being a general is not a crime, but this law can implicate us in false cases.”

Strong opposition to Karni Sena

Karni Sena’s Jodhpur president Mansingh Medatiya said, “This law has been brought to suppress the upper caste community. We will strongly oppose it and will soon formulate a strategy and protest.” Social organizations have warned that if these rules are not changed, they will protest on a large scale.

Regarding UGC-2026, NSUI District President Dr. Bablu Solanki supported it and said, “This Act has come into force from January 15 and has been brought on the basis of the data of increasing violence in universities.” He said, “Anyone who does wrong will be punished. Passersby immediately took him to the hospital. First he was taken to Deepchand Bandhu Hospital and later admitted to RML Hospital due to severe burns. According to doctors, the condition of the student is stable and the injuries are not life threatening.

Police investigation has revealed that the main accused was an acquaintance of the student. The accused Jitendra, who lives in Mukundpur area, used to stalk the student. About a month ago, there was a fight between the two over some issue, after which Jitendra started harassing her.

It is claimed that he along with two of his friends committed this crime on Sunday. According to the police, Ishaan gave the bottle to Armaan and he threw the acid.

Questions on women’s safety in Delhi

After the attack, the three accused fled from the spot. However, the police have identified him on the basis of nearby CCTV footage and several teams are conducting raids in search of him. This incident has once again raised serious questions on the safety of women in Delhi.

Protest by NSUI and SFI

Organizations active in student politics of Delhi University have strongly condemned this incident. National Students Union of India (NSUI) national president Varun Chaudhary said, “Acid was thrown on a Delhi University student in broad daylight, this is not just a crime but a proof of the failure of governance. If the BJP government and Delhi Police had really given priority to women’s safety, such incidents would have stopped. The culprits should be arrested immediately and they should be given strict punishment.”

Varun Chaudhary further said that NSUI stands with the victim and her family and the organization will continue to raise its voice until justice is provided.

SFI raised questions on the working style of police

At the same time, Students Federation of India (SFI), Delhi University unit also issued a statement saying that this incident is not just a crime but a symbol of ‘administrative insensitivity and government failure’. The organization said, “It is shocking that such an attack could happen in broad daylight, in front of a women’s college in the capital. The Delhi government and the police have repeatedly failed in such cases. Unless the culprits are given stringent punishment and security is not increased around college campuses, such incidents will continue.”

SFI also said, “In the past years, acid-related incidents were also reported near Miranda House, but concrete steps were never taken. This negligence has now become a threat to women.”

ABVP put this demand before the administration

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has described this incident as extremely unfortunate and condemnable and has demanded strict action from the administration against the culprits who carried out this attack.

ABVP says that such incidents in and around the university campus are a matter of serious concern from the safety point of view of girl students. ABVP has demanded from the university administration that such incidents should not be repeated, for this security arrangements should be strictly implemented around the campus, the number of CCTV cameras should be increased and police patrolling should be made more active.

Dissatisfaction among university students

Delhi Police has registered an FIR in the matter and said that action will be taken against the criminals under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). According to police officials, several teams have been sent to arrest the accused and technical surveillance has been increased.
