President Donald Trump has adopted a tough stance amid efforts being made to reduce the increasing tension between America and Iran. By canceling the Pakistan tour, he not only took a jibe at the trip but also made his conditions clear for talks with Iran. Trump sarcastically said that ‘America will not make a long journey of 18 hours to Pakistan just to see a piece of paper.’

Called Pakistan trip a ‘joke’

While talking to reporters in the Oval Office, he said, ‘It is completely ridiculous to take a long flight of 18 hours to Pakistan just to see a ‘piece of paper’.’ The US President said that the style of dialogue between the two countries has changed. Trump said, ‘When we know in advance that they (Iran) are going to make us an offer that we will not like, then it is a waste of time to go there. Now we are communicating through phone and this method is working very well. Earlier, Trump’s envoys Kushner and Steve Witkoff were to go to Islamabad, but Trump canceled it at the last moment.

What are Trump’s conditions for the agreement?

Trump has indicated that the ongoing peace talks between America and Iran are progressing well. However, Trump is not confident whether this conversation will actually be successful or not. Trump has set a strict condition for the agreement. He warned in clear words that ‘no agreement can be reached until Iran completely agrees that they will not have any nuclear weapons.’

Trump refused to open Hormuz and lift the blockade

The US President has rejected the proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz and end the blockade completely. Said that until Iran completely stops its nuclear program, these restrictions will be tightened further. In an interview with ‘Axios’, Trump said, ‘This blockade is more effective than bombing. They are dying badly. Things are going to get even worse for them. They cannot have nuclear weapons.
