Well-known Sufi singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan took music to new heights with his spiritual voice. Even though he sang only a few songs for Hindi cinema, the songs that touched him made them immortal. His most popular and superhit song in Bollywood was ‘Dulhe Ka Sehra Suhana’ from the film Dhadkan. There is a very interesting story related to this song.

During the recording of this song, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan used to get stuck on one line for about one and a half hours and became emotional again and again. The lyrics of this song were written by veteran lyricist Sameer and the music was given by the hit duo of that era, Nadeem-Shravan.

Nusrat Fateh cried 150 times on the same line of the song
Sameer told in one of his interviews that Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had sung only one of his songs and while singing the same song, Nusrat Saab cried many times. Sameer said, ‘When I wrote this song, I wrote it with my whole heart. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sang one line of this song for one and a half hours. As soon as that line came, Nusrat Saab would start crying.

Sameer further said, ‘When we went to the theater and saw it, as soon as that line came, the entire audience started crying. These lines were ‘I grew up in the swings of your arms, Babylon’. As soon as Nusrat Saab spoke Babul, he started crying. As soon as he spoke Babul, he started remembering his daughters and then he started crying. This song was Nusrat Saab’s favorite song and perhaps it was also his last song sung in Bollywood.

Let us tell you, the film Dhadkan, released in the year 2000, had made a special place in the hearts of the audience, in which Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Sunil Shetty were seen in important roles. This film was much discussed for its story as well as music. The song ‘Dulhe Ka Sehra Suhana’ of the film was recorded in the voice of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. This song later became the biggest identity of Dhadkan.

Shekhar kapoor recalls a moment with nusrat fateh ali khan: Film maker Shekhar Kapoor shared the story during the shooting of his film ‘Bandit Queen’. Posting on social media, he told that the late singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had a unique demand.

Shekhar told, a background score was being prepared for ‘Bandit Queen’. This scene was of the Behmai massacre and the subsequent scene, where many pyre were burning and the compassionate voices of women were echoing. During this, Nusrat made a strange demand to me. He said that Shekhar ji, you watch your film and I will sing in your eyes. “

Shekhar wrote, “When Mike was turned on, Nusrat had landed in my eyes, as if he was reading my soul. Nusrat knew that I had a deep relationship with RD Burman. He prepared the music of my first film ‘Masoom’. He had tied the voice of Nusrat and his eyes.

What else did Shekhar Kapoor tell

He suggested that if someone sees a ‘Bandit Queen’ again, then in the post -scene after the Behmai massacre, he must hear the music of Nusrat, who will take the audience into a deep experience.

Shekhar said, “Working with Nusrat was the same. I make films so that I can find the place between birth and death where creativity resides.” Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan died of a heart attack on 16 August 1997.
