For Afghanistan, Rahmat Shah scored the highest score of 79 runs in 89 balls with eight fours. While Sediqullah Atal (42) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (41) also played useful innings.

Gill played a brilliant inning of 154 runs despite the extreme heat and stiffness in his legs. While Ishan Kishan scored 125 runs, ending the three-year wait for an ODI century. Due to which India scored 402 runs.

Gill said after India’s 170-run win, “The ball was going where I wanted to hit it.” I was full of confidence. My target before the series was to finish the match and bat for 40-45 overs. I wanted to score 200 runs but I had to play shots continuously. I wanted to take the score to 430 runs but got caught out at deep cover.

He said, “The toss did not make much difference. If we had got the target of 310-320 runs, there would have been good pressure on the team. Everything is in good condition. Fast bowlers are consistently bowling at the right places which is not easy.

Gill, who was chosen the best player of the match, said that due to the scorching heat. He had to deal with the problem of swelling and stiffness. But now he is feeling better.

He said, “There is a little pain.” There were a lot of cramps at different places. It was very hot. I batted for 40-45 overs. Now I am feeling much better. I am in good condition.

After the match, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi admitted that the performance of his bowlers was not as per expectations.

“You can’t leave everything toss,” he said. Our bowling was not good. We gave them momentum in the first 20 overs. It was hot but at the same time you also have to bowl well. Today we could not win. Hopefully we will learn from this.

Regarding Rasooli who retired due to stiffness in his leg, Shahidi said, “Rasooli was suffering from stiffness. I asked him if he was okay. He was fine and I told him to go to bat before me. Bangladesh was given a revised target of 192 runs in 41 overs under the DLS rule. Bangladesh won the match by 5 wickets by scoring 195 runs for 5 wickets in 35 overs. Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was chosen player of the match. Rahman took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 7 overs.

Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya and senior batsman Rohit Sharma were approved by the Sports Science team of the Center of Excellence (COE) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to play in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan starting in Dharamsala from Saturday.

Pandya and Rohit could not play many IPL matches for Mumbai Indians due to injuries. While Pandya was suffering from back spasm, Rohit had a strain in his leg muscles. Pandya is in COE in Bengaluru since June 2.

A BCCI source told PTI, “Before coming to the CoE on June 2, Hardik was holidaying abroad. In the next five days, he prepared in many match-like situations and also bowled up to 10 overs (full quota).

“He did not face any problem and as per information, the strength and conditioning coach at the CoE has cleared his fitness on various parameters,” the source said.

Former captain Rohit was also in the COE to check the strain in his leg muscles and after the checkup, he too has been given approval to play.

On Monday, India’s assistant coach Sitanshu Kotak had said that although he does not have any latest information about Pandya’s fitness, he feels that the all-rounder is fine.

Pandya is an important player for India’s limited overs team as he provides balance to the team with his fast bowling and aggressive batting in the death overs.

The best thing is that Pandya is bowling 10 overs in the training session which means he is ready for the challenges of 50 over cricket.

However, it is not clear whether Pandya will join the team for the training session under floodlights in Chandigarh or will reach Dharamshala directly as was decided earlier.

Star batsman Virat Kohli is already out of the series due to leg muscle strain. Apart from Dharamshala, other matches of this series will be held in Lucknow and Chennai on June 17 and 20 respectively.

Former Indian cricketer and selector Saba Karim says that Virat Kohli has completely convinced the selectors with his fitness and hunger for runs before next year’s ODI World Cup, but Rohit Sharma will have to prove his fitness and form before this ICC tournament.

Both Kohli and Rohit now play only in ODI format and it is believed that after the World Cup 2027, they will say goodbye to this format also.

Karim told PTI, “I believe that Rohit will have to work very hard. He will have to pay a lot of attention to his fitness and batting.

Saba Karim said that there is no crisis in the place of veteran batsman Virat Kohli. According to Karim, the selectors are completely satisfied that Kohli is fit and will be a part of the 2027 ODI World Cup. He said, ‘I don’t think Virat needs to prove anything to the selectors’.
