Government released figures
In fact, recently the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has revealed that the losses of oil companies have now reduced significantly. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Petroleum Ministry, said during a recent press briefing that the losses incurred by oil marketing companies (OMCs) on the sale of petrol and diesel have reduced significantly. While releasing the figures, he said that the loss per liter on petrol has reduced from Rs 24 to Rs 3, that is, it has decreased by 83%. At the same time, the loss on diesel has come down from Rs 105 per liter to Rs 27, which shows a reduction of 75%.

How did the losses of oil companies reduce?
Recently the government also gave funds to help oil companies. According to the Finance Department, they have helped oil marketing companies to the tune of Rs 1.23 lakh crore. It is such that in order not to put additional burden on consumers, the Central Government gave relief to oil companies by cutting excise duty on petrol and diesel. This is also a big reason why the losses of oil companies have reduced.

Let us tell you that due to the ongoing war between Iran and the US, the prices of crude oil had increased. Due to which the central government had increased fuel prices four times in the month of May. Even after this, the total loss of oil companies had reduced to about Rs 600 crore per day. Earlier on May 18, 2026, this figure was around Rs 750 crore per day.

LPG News: The ongoing war between Iran and the US is causing trouble all over the world. In fact, recently it has been told by the government that government oil marketing companies (OMCs) are currently incurring a loss of about Rs 650 on every domestic LPG cylinder being sold. Talking about this, during a press briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said, ‘OMC is currently incurring a loss of about Rs 650 per cylinder on the sale of domestic LPG.’

According to officials, even after some recent changes in fuel prices, government oil companies (OMCs) are facing huge losses every day.

Commercial gas prices have increased recently
Let us tell you that recently from June 1, the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders have been increased. In big cities its price has increased to Rs 53.50. At the same time, the prices of small gas cylinders of 5 kg have also increased. However, there has been no change in the price of 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder.
