Pakistan’s Caribbean tour will begin on August 1. According to the Cricket Pakistan website, the Cricket Board of Pakistan and West Indies is considering converting the ODIs to be held on 8, 10 and 12 August into T20 matches. The report claimed that the purpose of converting ODIs into T20 may be preparations for the upcoming T20 tournaments. The Asia Cup is to be played in 2025, while the T20 World Cup is to be held next year. It was claimed that by increasing the number of T20 matches, both teams will be able to prepare a better squad for the upcoming tournaments.

Pakistan has made changes before

If it is agreed to convert ODIs between Pakistan and West Indies into T20, then this will not be happening for the first time. In the same year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also offered to convert ODIs into T20 in front of Bangladesh. Although initially it was agreed between the two sides, but later the T20 series was taken action. Since the 2027 ODI World Cup is still 2 years away, very few ODIs can be held before the 2026 T20 World Cup.

ICC New Cricket Rules: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made a big change in the rules of the game. The ICC has changed the rules ranging from playing XI to the use of balls in the overs of the match. According to the report published in Cricbuzz, these new rules in Test cricket will be implemented since this World Test Championship (WTC) final. At the same time, there are instructions to follow these rules in ODI cricket from July. However, no official information has been shared by the ICC regarding the new rules.

Big change in cricket rules

The ICC has made a big change in ODI cricket. In the ODI match, two new balls are used for a full 50 overs from both sides. But after the changes in the rules, both the balls will be used for the first 34 overs in an innings, but after 34 overs, the bowling team will have to select only one ball and the second ball will be reserved.

ODI matches are used for 25 overs or less due to rain or any other reason due to any obstruction, then only one ball will be used in an innings. Rules will also be changed regarding the Decision Review System (DRS), but information about it has not been revealed yet.

5 backup players will be available in the match

In the match, both teams are going to get 5 backup players for replacement. These will include a batsman, a fast bowler, an all -rounder, a spinner and a wicketkeeper. On the other hand, if the player replaced between the match is also injured, then the umpire will have the right to give any new option.

World Test Championship final

The final of the World Test Championship will run from 11 June to 15 June. This match will be played between South Africa and Australia. New ICC rules will not be applicable in this match. New rules can be implemented only after WTC Final in Test matches.
