Manjrekar made it clear that his protest is not against Kohli’s retirement, but against the manner of his decision. He said that if Virat had completely said goodbye to cricket, it would have been understandable, but his decision to leave only Test cricket and continue playing ODIs disappoints him. Manjrekar taunted by calling ODI cricket an “easy format” for top order batsmen and said that the real test comes only in Test cricket.

He also told why Test cricket is most important for him. According to Manjrekar, Test cricket is the real test of a player’s patience, technique and mental strength. There are different difficulties in T20 cricket, but no format is as difficult as Test cricket.

Manjrekar also said that considering Virat Kohli’s fitness and discipline, it was possible for him to return to Test cricket. If needed, he could have re-prepared himself by playing first-class cricket, whether in domestic or overseas conditions.
