After the medical entrance exam NEET UG 2026, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has now shared important information regarding the Common University Entrance Test i.e. CUET UG 2026. CUET is conducted for admission to Under Graduate (UG) courses in major central, state and many private universities of the country. Every year lakhs of students appear in this examination, hence every update related to it is very important for the students.

This time, NTA has issued a new advisory regarding CUET 2026, in which information about the syllabus, possible dates of the exam, number of subjects and necessary documents related to the application process has been given. The special thing is that in 2026, CUET exam will be conducted in the month of May and students will get the option to choose a total of 5 subjects.

CUET UG exam will be held in May 2026

According to the advisory of NTA, CUET UG 2026 will be conducted in May 2026. According to media reports and sources, the examination may start between 13 to 15 May 2026. However, the exact dates of the examination will be announced later through official notification.

The online registration process for CUET is likely to start in the last week of February or the first week of March 2026. In such a situation, students who are preparing for CUET should focus on both their documents and studies from now on.

Prepare according to the syllabus topic of CUET 2026

NTA has clearly said that the complete syllabus of CUET 2026 has been uploaded on the website. Different topics have been given for each subject and students will have to prepare based on them.

CUET syllabus is mainly based on NCERT books. Experts believe that mere memorization will not suffice, but it is important to understand the concepts well. Students who read NCERT books carefully and develop basic understanding of the subject will have higher chances of scoring good marks.

CUET UG 2026 exam will be held in total 37 subjects

A total of 37 subjects will be conducted in CUET UG 2026. These include language subjects, domain subjects and a general aptitude test. CUET exam will be conducted in 13 languages, which include English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu. Domain subjects include subjects from Science, Commerce, Arts and other streams like Accounts, Agriculture, Anthropology, Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Business Studies, Chemistry, Environment Science, Computer Science, Information Practice, Economics, Fine Arts, Geography, Geology,

Chance to choose only 5 subjects in 2026

A major change in CUET 2026 is that students will get the option to appear for the exam in only 5 subjects. The purpose of this change is to make the examination more simple and focused, so that students can prepare better according to their chosen course. CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode. Before applying, students must ensure that their Aadhar card is updated.

Enrollment and exam dates

The process of admission in these courses will start from 22 September 2025, if a student wants to enroll, then he will have time till 20 February 2026 i.e. students can enroll for about 5 months.

How much will the course of course be

The total duration of the course will be of 24 weeks i.e. students will get about 6 months in which they will be able to complete all modules and chapters. After this, the final examination will be held on 3 March 2026, students will be required to register by 2 March 2026 to appear in the examination.

For which subjects will courses be available?

NCERT has made courses in different subjects for classes 11 and 12. For class 11: Accountancy, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Physics, Psychology and Sociology. For class 12: Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Economics, English, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology and Sociology. All these subjects are divided into chapters and modules, so that students can study slowly and systematically.

How will the course be?
All these courses will be prepared and taught by experienced teachers of NCERT, in every subject such topics have been included, which strengthen the foundation of students and help them to perform better in board exams, due to being online, students will be able to study according to their convenience and time.

Certificate will also be available
After completing the course, the student will have to take the exam, if a student brings 60 percent or more marks in this examination, then a certificate will be given by NCERT, this certificate will be very important for the educational achievement of the students and can prove to be helpful in further studies or career.
