There has been a stir within the Congress regarding the statements given by senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram. According to official sources of Congress, the national leadership of Congress has expressed strong displeasure over Chidambaram’s recent statements.

On behalf of the top leadership of Congress, it has been said that why is this happening again and again from Chidambaram’s side. There is no need for such statements. Senior Congress leaders, to whom the party has given everything, should give their statements carefully, because it is not right to repeatedly give such statements which cause trouble to the party.

What did Chidambaram say about Mumbai terrorist attacks?

Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram, in an interview with a news channel on September 30, 2025, had said regarding the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that there was pressure from the whole world, we were being explained not to go to war with Pakistan. Chidambaram said that the then Foreign Minister of America had come to India and said that please do not take action.

Told Operation Blue Star as Indira Gandhi’s mistake

Apart from this, recently Chidambaram also talked about Operation Blue Star. After this, Congress has once again started facing embarrassment. While discussing a book ‘They Will Shoot You Madam’ at the Khushwant Singh Sahitya Mahotsav held in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, he said that in June 1984, the Indian Army had conducted an operation to evict terrorists from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. This is called Operation Blue Star. After this operation, Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own Sikh security personnel. Chidambaram has called it the mistake of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Congress seems to be under attack from all sides due to Chidambaram’s statements regarding Mumbai attacks and Congress’s action in the Golden Temple. In such a situation, the national leadership of Congress has now expressed displeasure against Chidambaram.

Blue Star was the wrong approach- Chidambaram

After a few years we showed the right way, by keeping the army out. Blue Star was the wrong way to go and I believe they paid the price for this mistake with their lives.

‘The demand for Khalistan is almost over’

He further said that this decision was not of Indira Gandhi alone. This was a joint decision of the army, police, intelligence department and civil service. He said that the blame for this cannot be placed only on Mrs. Gandhi. will you do that? Talking about the situation in today’s Punjab, Chidambaram said that the demand for Khalistan has almost ended. Now the real problem of Punjab is economic problem.

Nishikant dubey on Congress and sikh communication: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey has accused the Congress party of repeatedly making political tricks with the Sikh community. He targeted the historical policies and decisions of the Congress and said that the party has considered the Sikhs to be only a political toy.

He claimed in one of his X post that during Operation Blue Star in 1984, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had taken military action in the Golden Temple Complex with the help of Britain. He said, “British army officials were present in Amritsar at that time.” Nishikant Dubey further said that in 1960, the decision to give Pakistan to Pakistan was decided by the then minister Sardar Swarn Singh under an agreement, which led to a sacred pilgrimage site for Sikhs to foreign land.

BJP MP made these allegations against Congress

The BJP MP alleged that at the time of attack on the Golden Temple in 1984 and the death of innocent devotees, the Congress deliberately made Giani Zail Singh the President. He alleged that the sentiments of the Sikh community were ignored at that time.

Accused of saving accused of riots

Nishikant Dubey also said that in 2004, Dr. Manmohan Singh was introduced as Prime Minister to save the main accused (HKL Bhagat, Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar) of the 1984 anti -Sikh riots. They allege that the step was part of the strategy to improve international image and calm the Sikhs. He also accused the Congress of surrendering to foreign forces instead of country interest and said that the party’s alleged surrender policy continues even today.
