Fertilizer in Fields: Farmers across the country are preparing for Kharif season crops. Even before the beginning of Kharif season, there is concern among farmers about the availability of urea and DAP. At this time, farmers complete their important tasks, from preparing the fields to applying fertilizer. However, for good yield, it is not enough to just apply fertilizer in farming, rather it is more important to apply fertilizer in the right quantity.

Many farmers add fertilizer to their fields based on guesswork without testing the soil, which causes less benefit to the crop and more damage to the soil. In such a situation, let us now tell you how much fertilizer is required in your field, how can you check?

Know how much fertilizer is required in the field from the soil health card?

Soil Health Card helps farmers to know how much and which fertilizer is required in their field. To get a soil health card made, farmers have to first take soil samples from different parts of their fields. For this they have to extract soil from 15 to 20 different places in the field. After this, one sample is prepared by mixing all the samples, then these samples are filled in polythene bags and deposited in the Agriculture Department or Soil Testing Laboratory. After the soil sample is collected, it is tested with a hi-tech machine. Usually the report is ready within 5 days. During testing, the level of nutrients present in the soil is seen.

What deficiency does the report reveal in the field?

After receiving the soil test report, farmers come to know which nutrients are deficient in the field and which are present in sufficient quantity. For example, if there is phosphorus deficiency in the field, then fertilizer can be applied accordingly. At the same time, if there is right amount of potash, then there is no need to add more potash. Let us tell you that on the basis of the investigation report, soil health card is issued to the farmer. This card remains valid for 3 years. In this card, all the information about which fertilizer is to be given for which crop, in what quantity, when and which micronutrients are required is given.

Also read- Cultivate mint as soon as the rains end, know the top secret and you will earn huge income.

How to know the need of fertilizer in the field without investigation?

According to agricultural experts, if a farmer’s soil test report does not come and if he cannot test the soil, then he can use fertilizer as per the standard recommendation. For example, it is considered safe to apply 48 kg nitrogen, 24 kg phosphorus and 16 kg potash per acre. Whereas if the farmer is using DAP, then he can apply 52 kg DAP, 84 kg urea and 27 kg potash, if he is using SSP fertilizer, then he can apply 150 kg SSP, 105 kg urea, 27 kg potash and if he is using NPK fertilizer, then he can apply 75 kg NPK, 85 kg urea and 60 kg potash.

Also read – This card will be useful not only for crops, but also for cow-buffalo and fish farming, avail benefits like this
