After the declaration of CBSE board exam results, a case has come to light which has shocked both students and parents. When a student asked for a scanned copy of his Physics answer sheet as part of the re-evaluation process, the ground slipped under his feet after seeing it. The student claims that the copy sent to him is not his.

This entire matter has now become a topic of discussion from social media to the education world. The student and his family are calling it a serious irregularity, while CBSE has assured to investigate the complaint.

After all, what is the whole matter?

Class 12 student Vedant Srivastava raised questions about his marks after the results of the board exams were declared. According to the student, he had got much less marks in Physics than expected. After this the family asked for a scanned copy of the answer copy under the re-evaluation process of CBSE. A few days later, when the copies were made available online, the family started looking at them carefully. But everyone was surprised after seeing the answer sheet of Physics.

The family claims that the first page of the answer sheet, on which the roll number and other information is recorded, appears to be that of the student. But the handwriting of the pages after that is completely different. The student alleges that the remaining answers have been written by some other student.

The family showed many questions

While talking to ABP News, the student, his father and elder brother expressed their concerns. The family says that they had asked for answer sheets not only of Physics but also of Maths, English and Computer Science.

The interesting thing is that the handwriting in the copies of all other subjects looks the same, but in the copy of Physics the handwriting looks completely different. For this reason the family suspected whether some major mistake had taken place. The student’s father says that if the copy is not his son’s, then there will be no benefit in just re-checking. They allege that the matter seems more serious than a simple mistake.

Good marks in other subjects, setback in Physics?

Chemistry – 91 marks
Computer Science – 91 Marks
Physical Education – 91 marks
English – 86 marks
Physics – 65 marks

What do family members say?

The family says that the marks obtained in Physics affected the overall percentage of the student. The student’s elder brother claims that due to low percentage, Vedanta was deprived of some important opportunities. According to him, having better marks could have put the student in a better position in processes like JEE and Army Technical Entry Scheme.

Story went viral on social media

Vedant Srivastava also shared his problem on social media platform X. He wrote that after getting less marks, he had asked for a copy of the answer sheet, but the Physics copy he got was not his. After the post surfaced, people reacted to this matter. Many students and parents also raised questions regarding transparency in board examinations.

What is the new system?

OSM (On-Screen Marking System) is a modern digital evaluation system in CBSE examinations. In this process, the answer sheets of the students are first scanned and converted into digital format. After this the examiners check the answer sheets by looking at the computer screen and directly enter the marks in the online system. With this, an attempt is made to make the evaluation process faster, transparent and more systematic.

Now what did CBSE say?

After the matter came to light, CBSE officials have advised the student to wait for the re-evaluation portal to reopen and file a formal complaint through the same portal. Board officials have also assured that the student’s complaint will be thoroughly investigated. At present, CBSE has not said that there is any mistake in the answer sheet, but after receiving the complaint, assurance of investigation has been given.
