A new twist has emerged in the famous Osman Hadi murder case of Bangladesh. Faisal Karim Masood, one of the main accused in this case, has released a video and made it clear that he is not present in India but in Dubai. He has denied any involvement in the murder and has declared himself innocent and said that false allegations are being leveled against him and his family.

Faisal gave clarification by releasing the video
In the video, Faisal Karim Masood said that he neither killed Usman Hadi nor has any connection with this incident. According to him, he had gone to Dubai for the safety of his life. Faisal claimed that there could be other political reasons behind the murder.

Claimed affiliation with Jamaat
Faisal said in the video that Usman Hadi was related to Jamaat and it is possible that people associated with the same organization may have carried out this attack. He said that his name is being wrongly dragged into this incident. The accused says that his contact with Usman Hadi was limited only to business needs. Faisal owns an IT company and admitted that he had made political donations, but that it was for completely legitimate and professional reasons and not as part of any criminal conspiracy.

Questions raised on claim of fleeing to India
Dhaka Metropolitan Police had earlier claimed that Faisal Karim Masood had fled to India. According to the police, he had entered India through Haluaghat border. However, later the BSF IG posted in Meghalaya rejected this claim and said that no evidence of crossing the border has been found.

Documents confirm presence in Dubai
According to media reports, it has been confirmed from the available documents that Faisal Karim Masood is currently in Dubai. According to sources, he has a five-year multi-entry UAE visa issued in December 2022, for which he had paid himself.

It is noteworthy that Usman Hadi was shot during election campaigning in Dhaka on 12 December. He was taken to Singapore for treatment, where he died on 18 December. Hadi was the spokesperson of ‘Inquilab Manch’ and had emerged as an influential youth leader after the recent mass movement. He was also a candidate in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Security agencies in Meghalaya on Sunday (December 28, 2025) rejected the claim made by Dhaka Police of Bangladesh. Dhaka Police had said that the killers of Inquilab Manch leader Sharif Usman Hadi have entered the state. BSF chief in Meghalaya, Inspector General OP Upadhyay has called them baseless and misleading.

In fact, a top official of Dhaka Metropolitan Police had said that the two main suspects of Hadi murder case have entered Meghalaya through Haluaghat border. Local friends have helped him. There is no such evidence. So that it is known whether any person has crossed the international border from Haluaghat sector and come to Meghalaya.

Speaking to PTI, Upadhyay said that BSF has neither seen any such incident. Nor has any such report been received. The claims that are being spread are baseless and misleading.

A senior Meghalaya Police official said there was no input or intelligence to corroborate the claim of presence of suspects in the Garo Hills area. BSF officials have said that the personnel deployed on the International Border have been kept on high alert at all times to prevent any untoward incident. Especially considering the situation in the neighboring country. Constant monitoring is being done in this sector.

Who is student leader Hadi?

Sharif Osman Hadi, 32, was shot in the head during an election campaign in Dhaka on December 12. He was referred to Singapore so that he could get better treatment. He died during treatment on 18 December. Hadi was the spokesperson of Inquilab Manch. He was a prominent youth leader of the protests in August 2004. Due to this reason Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government had fallen. Besides, he was also a parliamentary candidate for the elections to be held on 12th February.

The Garo Hills area falls in the western sector of Meghalaya. It shares border with Bangladesh. Border force is deployed for its security.

Inquilab Manch has announced a complete blockade in all the divisional cities of Bangladesh from today (28 December). Protests have intensified in the country demanding justice for student leader Sharif Usman Hadi and demonstrations are being organized by Inquilab Manch outside the capital Dhaka as well.

According to Bangladeshi newspaper ‘The Daily Star’, the organization said in a Facebook post that the blockade will start at 11:00 am local time on Sunday. According to the report of Prothom Alo, this announcement was made from Shahbagh intersection of the capital, where Inquilab Manch was protesting since Friday. On Saturday, mainly Inquilab Manch activists blocked roads in Dhaka, Sylhet, Chattogram and Kushtia and staged sit-ins demanding justice for Hadi, according to local media reports.

Tariq Rehman visited Hadi’s grave
The protesters who occupied Shahbag after Friday afternoon Friday prayers in Dhaka went to the front of Aziz Supermarket and allowed BNP leader Tariq Rahman to visit Hadi’s grave in Dhaka University area, the Daily Star reported. The protesters returned to Shahbag around 12:40 pm, causing a complete halt to vehicular traffic.

Inquilab Manch MP warned
Inquilab Manch MP Abdullah Al Jaber, while addressing the gathering in Shahbag, accused the government of not taking action and warned of intensifying the movement. “Today we are in Shahbag; tomorrow we can capture Jamuna (the residence of the Chief Advisor), Parliament or even the cantonment,” he said, according to the Daily Star.

Criticizing the government’s inaction, Jaber said that despite the protest continuing since Friday, no advisor has come to the protest site. “People were shivering from the cold on the streets while advisors were sleeping in their homes,” he said. He further said that public trust in the government is decreasing.

What did Omar Hadi say about the murder of his brother?

Omar said that the government should immediately expose before the country all those involved in his brother’s murder. Referring to the fate of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government, he warned that otherwise you too will be forced to flee the country.

Along with the Awami League, Osman Hadi, a staunch critic of India, was one of the leaders of last year’s violent protests. Due to this violent demonstration led by students, the government led by Sheikh Hasina was ousted from power. This demonstration is known as the July Uprising. Hadi later formed Inquilab Manch.

Cabinet department released information

The Cabinet Department issued a notification on Wednesday (December 24, 2025) night saying that the President has accepted the resignation of former police chief Chaudhary. “Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor (Home Ministry) Mohammad Khuda Bakhsh Chaudhary has resigned from his post and the President has accepted his resignation,” an official statement said.

Shot in Dhaka, died during treatment in Singapore

Usman Hadi, a candidate for parliamentary elections to be held in February, was shot in the head by masked gunmen in Dhaka on December 12, 2025. He died six days later in a hospital in Singapore. Inquilab Manch held three responsible for Hadi’s murder

Inquilab Manch has held Home Advisor Lieutenant General (retired) Jahangir Alam Chaudhary, Law Advisor Asif Nazrul and Khuda Baksh Chaudhary responsible for the murder and demanded their immediate resignation. The legal adviser has promised to prosecute the case in Bangladesh’s speedy trial tribunal, under which the trial has to be completed within 90 days.

Following Hadi’s death, a mob went on a rampage in Dhaka and set fire to the main offices of the newspapers Prothom Alo and Daily Star as well as the offices of Chayanat and Udichi Shilpi Gosthi, two progressive cultural groups in Dhaka. A Hindu factory worker was beaten to death by a mob in central Mymensingh.

Political tension has increased in Bangladesh after the murder of student leader Sharif Usman Hadi. Hadi was shot in the head in Dhaka, due to which he died. He said, ‘You got Osman Hadi assassinated and now you are trying to postpone the elections by using this issue.’ Making serious allegations against the interim government, he said that his brother had expressed his desire to hold national elections by February.

Demand for elections and justice
Omar said that the killers should be immediately prosecuted so that the election environment is not affected. He warned, ‘If justice is not given for Usman Hadi, one day you too will have to leave Bangladesh. Omar was referring to Sheikh Hasina, who moved to India after the protests last year. Omar alleged that his brother was killed because he had decided not to bow before any agency or ‘foreign bosses’.

Inquilab Manch’s allegations and demands
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inquilab Manch, said Usman’s killing was part of a ‘deep conspiracy’ to destroy the achievements of the July protests and the sovereignty of Bangladesh, The Daily Star reported. He claimed that international intelligence agencies and ‘fascist collaborators’ working in the country took part in the murder. Jaber has demanded from the government that the killers should be presented before the public within the stipulated time as per international standards, otherwise their opposition will intensify.

Amid the violence that broke out after the death of a student leader in Bangladesh, protests and attacks against journalists have intensified in the country. Last week, Islamic fundamentalists set fire and vandalized the offices of two major newspapers of the country, in protest against which the journalists there protested fiercely on Monday (December 22, 2025).

Dozens of journalists and media personnel protested by forming a human chain in the country’s capital Dhaka. They were holding placards condemning attacks on press freedom and democratic values. Meanwhile, security forces were also deployed on the spot.

Protestors set fire to many buildings in Dhaka

Protestors enraged by the killing of student leader Osman Hadi set fire to several buildings in the capital Dhaka, including the offices of two major newspapers, which are considered pro-India.

At the same time, Nurul Kabir, editor of New Age Daily and President of National Editors Council in Bangladesh, said that the attackers tried to burn the journalists alive. “When journalists were working inside the office, buildings were set on fire and even the fire department was prevented from carrying out rescue operations,” he said at a rally on Monday (December 22).

He said that the attackers had made it clear that anyone who disagreed with them would be burnt alive. He was even attacked while trying to help journalists trapped on the rooftop.

Accusations made against the government of Mohammad Yunus

Human rights organizations and media organizations in Bangladesh strongly criticized the uproar and violence and accused Mohammad Yunus and the government led by him of failing to control the situation. Osman Hadi’s condition remains very critical

After the attack, Osman Hadi was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition at around 2:40 pm on Friday (December 12, 2025). The doctors of the medical college immediately started treating Hadi. Doctors said that the bullet entered from the right side of Usman’s head and exited from the left side. It is clear from this that the bike-riding attackers shot Osman Hadi at point blank range. Doctors also said that some small particles of the bullet were stuck inside Hadi’s brain and he had suffered two heart attacks. It is also being said that there are preparations to send Hadi abroad for surgery.

At present, Hadi has been admitted to Evercare Hospital, where he is kept on ventilator. Doctors said that Hadi’s condition is bad due to swelling and pressure in the brain. If necessary, a part of his brain may have to be removed.

The entire incident was captured in CCTV

Police of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, said that this entire incident has been captured in a CCTV camera, in which both the bike riders are seen wearing black helmets. Police said that CCTV footage shows that the attackers committed this serious crime within a few seconds. Hadi was going towards the High Court area on a tuktuk-rickshaw. Then the bike riding attackers came from behind. The person sitting behind on the bike took out the gun and targeted Usman Hadi from very close. As soon as the bullet was fired, Usman fell down from the rickshaw on the road.
