CEO Pay: According to a new global report released by Oxfam International and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), in the year 2025, the salary of the world’s top CEOs will increase 20 times faster than that of employees.

The analysis shows that an executive’s compensation increased rapidly, while millions of workers continued to struggle with rising prices and low wage increases. Researchers found that last year the salary of global CEOs increased 20 times faster than the salaries of workers.

CEOs in profit, workers in loss

In the year 2025, the salary of CEOs at the global level increased by 11 percent in real terms after adjusting for inflation. In contrast, the real salary of ordinary employees increased by only 0.5 percent. The average salary of a CEO in 1500 big companies in 33 big countries increased from $ 7.6 million in 2024 to $ 8.4 million in 2025 (about Rs 70 crore).

Due to rising inflation between 2019-2025, the real salary of employees globally has decreased by 12 percent. This is equivalent to employees working without pay for 108 days. At the same time, the total compensation of CEOs has increased by 54 percent during this period. The study states that in 2025, billionaires will earn approximately $2,500 every second through dividends from their investment portfolios.

Highest difference in America

This was seen happening most in America. Here, there was a huge increase of 25.6 percent in the salary of CEOs of S&P 500 companies between 2024 and 2025. In contrast, the hourly wage of workers of private companies in America remained only 1.3 percent during the same period. Based on this report by Oxfam and ITUC, governments have been demanded to limit the salaries of CEOs and implement fair taxes on the rich to reduce this inequality at the economic level.
