India helps kiribati: India sent a consignment of a six -bed container based dialysis unit to Kiribati on Saturday (March 22, 2025). New Delhi has taken this step to help strengthen the healthcare system of this island country located in the Central Pacific Ocean.

The Ministry of External Affairs posted on X, “Prashant Islands standing with the family to help strengthen the healthcare system of Kiribati. FIPIC-3 fulfills India’s commitment at 3 summit. A consignment of a six-bed container-based dialysis unit departed from Mundra Port to Tarawa, Kiribati”.

Intensive relationship with the help of FIPIC

In May 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart of Papua New Guinea, James Marpe, co-screened the Third Summit of Forum for India Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) in Port Moresby. This unique platform brings together India and 14 Pacific Island countries, including Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshal Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Neu, Republic of Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tawalu and Vanuatu. The FIPIC was launched during Prime Minister Modi’s Fiji visit in 2014 and has helped to deepen India’s relations with the Pacific Island countries (PIC).

Kiribati was helped by India even during Kovid period
This is not the first time India has helped Kiribati. In the year 2022, the Government of India sent a consignment of PPE and medicines to help in the management of the first outbreak of Kovid-19 in the Pacific Island country.

Relief material sent by India included pulse oximeter, swab with VTM, sample bag for self, PPE kit (surgical mask, gloves, N-95 masks, shoe covers, hair cap) and emergency Kovid-19 drug supply.
