The Central Government has announced the Padma Awards on Sunday (January 25). It has been announced that former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren will be awarded Padma Bhushan posthumously. He will be honored with this award for his remarkable work in the field of public welfare.

On the eve of Republic Day, the Central Government announced the names of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri winners. The list of Padma awards released by the Home Ministry includes 5 Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri awards.

Shibu Soren died on 4 August 2025

It is noteworthy that former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren died on August 4, 2025. He was being treated at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, where he breathed his last. Shibu Soren, also known as ‘Dishom Guru’, has been a strong pillar of Jharkhand politics.

Shibu Soren fought for the rights of tribals

Shibu Soren had fought hard for the rights and privileges of the tribals under the banner of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). He was born in Hazaribagh on 11 January 1944. At that time Hazaribagh was a part of Bihar. He is known as Dishom Guru and Guruji. He fought a long battle against the exploitation of tribals.

Shibu Soren’s political journey

Shibu Soren had contested elections for the first time in 1977, but had to face defeat. However, since 1980, he has been elected MP several times consecutively. He also played an important role in the movement to create a separate state ‘Jharkhand’ from Bihar. He became the Chief Minister of Jharkhand thrice in the year 2005, 2008 and 2009, but could not complete his tenure even once.

He was a member of Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha. He also worked as a minister in the UPA government at the Centre. Due to poor health, he gradually distanced himself from active politics and handed over the responsibility of managing the party to his son Hemant Soren.

Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra Singh Deol has been posthumously awarded the country’s second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan. The government has announced the Padma Award today itself. In view of his incomparable contribution to cinema, the Government of India has decided to confer this honour.

Wife Hema Malini has expressed happiness over the late actor receiving this honor posthumously. He shared Dharam ji’s photo on Twitter and wrote, ‘I am extremely proud that the government has honored Dharam ji with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award, recognizing his immense contribution to the film industry.’

Let us tell you that Dharmendra died on 24 November 2025. He gave many memorable films to Hindi cinema and made a special place in the hearts of millions of viewers with his strong acting, action and romantic roles. He was also known as ‘He-Man’ in the film industry.

Dharmendra’s career

Dharmendra started his acting career in 1960. He was seen in ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’. After this he appeared in a supporting role in the 1961 film “Boy Friend”. Dharmendra remained active in acting for 65 years. He gave many hits, superhits and blockbuster films. He has done films like Sholay (1975), Chupke-Chupke (1975), Sita Aur Geeta (1972), Dharamveer (1977), Phool Aur Patthar (1966), Jugnu (1973) and Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973).

Dharmendra was working continuously even at the age of 89. After his death, his last film ‘Ikkis’ was released in theaters on January 1 this year. In this film, he was seen in the role of Agastya Nanda’s father.

Dharmendra’s personal life
Talking about Dharmendra’s personal life, he married twice. His first marriage was with Prakash Kaur. From this marriage he has four children – Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol and Ajita Deol.

The second marriage was with actress Hema Malini. Prakash did not divorce Dharmendra, so Dharmendra changed his religion and married again. He has two daughters with Hema Malini – Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
