Pakistan cricket team is currently hosting the Tri Nation Series, whose other two teams are Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. In the press conference held a day before the start of the tri-series, a Pakistani journalist asked Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza about the best team in Asia’s second T20. On this Raza gave such an answer, which the journalist did not expect.

Be it a leader of Pakistan, a player or a common citizen, everyone keeps praising himself. They hope that other people will also praise them, but if they do not have that ability then how can this be possible. With one such expectation, a Pakistani journalist had asked Sikandar Raja which team he considered to be the second best team of Asia.

The Pakistani journalist knew that there could be no other team above India in Asia, so he asked about the second best team. Still he did not get the answer he wanted to hear. There is a debate on social media between Pakistan and Afghanistan fans as to which team is the second best.

Sikandar Raza gave this answer: Because I am wearing the national team jersey right now, I can only say that Zimbabwe is the second best team in Africa. I don’t care who is the first or second best team in Asia. I will speak on this when I am not in the national team jersey. Right now my focus is on my team. This is the press conference of the Zimbabwe captain, so let me answer the question about this team. Personally, I don’t care who is the best, second best or third best team in Asia. We are the second best team in Africa, we are working hard for this. We are trying to challenge the best team in Africa.

The triangular T20 series organized by PCB started on Tuesday. The first match of the tournament was played between Pakistan and Zimbabwe at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Pakistan won by 5 wickets and started the tournament on a bright note.

Pakistan had a target of 148 runs to win. At one time Pakistan was in trouble after losing 4 wickets for 54 runs. 92 runs had to be scored in the last 10 overs to win. It seemed that Zimbabwe could register victory. But Fakhar Zaman and Usman Khan made a partnership of 61 runs for the fifth wicket and turned the match in favor of Pakistan. Fakhar was out after scoring 44 runs in 32 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 2 fours.

Usman Khan remained unbeaten on 37 runs on 28 balls and Mohammad Nawaz remained unbeaten on 21 runs on 12 balls. There was a partnership of 33 runs between the two. Pakistan scored 151 runs for 5 wickets in 19.2 overs and won the match by 5 wickets. Babar Azam could not open the account.

Brad Evans took 2 wickets, Richard Ngwara, T Maposa, and Graeme Creamer took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan had won the toss and decided to bowl. Openers Brian Bennett and T Marumani gave a strong start to the team. Both of them made a partnership of 72 runs in 8 overs for the first wicket. Marumani was out as the first wicket after scoring 30 runs in 22 balls. After the breaking of the opening partnership, Zimbabwe’s batting completely disintegrated. Bennett was also out after scoring 49 runs in 36 balls.

Captain Sikandar Raza scored unbeaten 34 runs with the help of 3 fours and 1 six in 24 balls, taking the team’s score to 147 for 8 wickets. For Pakistan, Mohammad Nawaz took 2 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs. Shaheen Afridi was the most expensive and took 1 wicket for 34 runs in 4 overs. Salman Mirza, Saim Ayub and Abrar Ahmed got 1 wicket each.

Pakistan-Zimbabwe-Sri Lanka tri series has started from today. In the first match, Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by 5 wickets. Babar Azam and captain Salman Aga flopped badly, but the Pakistan team, despite faltering, somehow won the match by 5 wickets. Babar could not even open an account. Zimbabwe had scored 147 runs while playing first, in reply Pakistan team ensured victory by 5 wickets in the last over.

Zimbabwe was given a good start by Brian Bennett and T Marumani. There was an opening partnership of 72 runs between the two. Bennett scored 49 runs and Marumani scored 30 runs. But after that wickets kept falling continuously, but in the meantime captain Sikandar Raza played an unbeaten inning of 34 runs.

Babar out on ‘0’, Fakhar Zaman shines

Babar Azam is coming back after ending the century drought in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka. Now he could not even open his account against Zimbabwe. For this he has to get trolled again. Whereas captain Salman Aga could score only 1 run.

Pakistan had lost 4 wickets at the score of 54. After that Fakhar Zaman and Usman Khan made a partnership of 61 runs in 39 balls and brought Pakistan back into the match. Fakhar played an inning of 44 runs in 32 balls. On the other hand, Usman Khan returned unbeaten after scoring 37 runs. Mohammad Nawaz’s cameo inning of 21 runs also played an important role in Pakistan’s victory. Nawaz scored 21 runs in 12 balls, during which he also hit 2 fours and a six.

Zimbabwe has defeated Pakistan thrice in the last 7 T20 matches and now came close to defeating them once again. But it lost the match which lasted till the last over.
