Pakistan extended the ban imposed on Indian aircraft in its airspace for another month till July 24. These restrictions were first imposed in April 2025. Pakistan had closed its airspace to Indian airlines due to the tension created after the terrorist attack on April 22, 2025 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

India had blamed Pakistan for the terrorist attack. 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam attack. India has also imposed similar restrictions on the use of its airspace by Pakistani aircraft. Pakistan Airport Authority said in a notice issued on Wednesday (June 17, 2026), ‘The ban on Indian aircraft – both civil and military, will remain in force from 5:50 pm on June 16 to 4:59 am on July 24.’ Military tension between the two has reduced, but diplomatic relations still remain tense.

Prolonged closure of airspace is expected to increase operating costs for Indian airline companies, with many of them forced to use longer routes to Central Asia, Europe, West Asia and North America.

CDS’s disclosure regarding Operation Sindoor

Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan recently made important revelations regarding Operation Sindoor. He said, ‘Operation Sindoor is different. This is still going on, so I am saying that this is different from all the struggles fought before. For the first time it was a multi-domain operation. We worked in a coordinated manner in all three domains (land, water and air). This was mostly a non-contact fight, whereas in the past almost all fights had direct contact.

India has What was used in Operation Sindoor?

He said that cyber and space capabilities were also used effectively in this operation. He said, ‘In this 88-hour operation, unprecedented coordination was seen not only between the three armies, but also with other organs of the government and various agencies.’ Talking about the traditional parameters of victory, the CDS said, ‘Earlier victory was measured by how much territory was captured, how many prisoners of war were taken or how much material was destroyed, but now precise attacks can be carried out from a distance of 300-400 kilometres. This had never happened before. Therefore this operation was completely different.
