Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was jailed, told his party members on Wednesday (July 16, 2025) that if there is any untoward incident with him in jail, then his responsible army chief will be the chief field marshal Asim Munir. 72 -year -old Khan, a cricketer -turned -leader, has been in jail since August 2023 in several cases. Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shahbaz Sharif has been preparing to start a big campaign across the country since August 5 to pressurize the Shahbaz Sharif government and the military establishment.

Khan said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, “In recent times, the harsh behavior with me in jail has increased even more. The same attitude is also being adopted against my wife Bushra Bibi. Even the TV of his closet has been closed. All the basic rights of both of us have been suspended whether they are human or prisoners.

Action being taken on the orders of Asim Munir

Khan said that “there should be accountability for this.” He claimed that he was fully aware that a Colonel and Jail Superintendent “is taking action on the orders of Asim Munir”. The former Prime Minister said, “Therefore, I give clear instructions to my party that if anything happens to me in jail, Asim Munir should be held responsible.”

‘Pakistan is late for terrorists VIP facility in jail’

He said, “I am ready to spend my whole life in jail, but there is no question of bending to atrocities and oppression. My message to the people of Pakistan is the same – do not bow down to this oppressive system under any circumstances. ”Khan repeated and said that the time of conversation has passed – now it is a time of nationwide protest. Khan said that even convicted killers and terrorists are kept in better position than them. Taking the name of a military worker, he said that he is being given “VIP facility in jail.”

Criticizing Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Federal Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Khan said that both of them have created an atmosphere of atrocities and fascism on the people of Punjab for the last two years. Khan’s sister Alima Khan also told reporters that Imran Khan has given a message to PTI members that if anything happens to him in jail, General Asim Munir should be held responsible for him.
