America has openly praised Pakistan for hosting the high-level talks between America and Iran in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. US Acting Ambassador to Pakistan Natalie A. Baker called it the most important moment in the modern history of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan has played an important role in making dialogue possible between two long-standing rivals.

Speaking at an event marking the 250th anniversary of US independence, Natalie Baker said that in April Islamabad hosted the most high-level talks between the US and Iran since the 1979 Iranian revolution. According to him, this incident is a very important chapter in the modern history of Islamabad.

American acting ambassador praised

US Acting Ambassador Baker said that this conversation between the representatives of America and Iran lasted for about 21 hours. During this period, to strengthen the security system, Pakistan deployed more than 10 thousand security personnel and kept many important routes temporarily closed. He said that Pakistan has good relations with both America and Iran and it is not a direct party to this dispute. This was the reason why Pakistan proved to be a suitable place for talks between the two countries. He said that during this sensitive conversation, the US mission present in Pakistan played an important role in communication, logistics and assistance to the US delegation. Baker also praised the efforts of Pakistani officials and allies.

The US Ambassador said that it was difficult for many Pakistanis to believe that representatives of countries like America and Iran were sitting face to face in Islamabad and talking. He said that it was a proud moment for Pakistan and the country successfully fulfilled its responsibility. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also described the relations between the two countries as special on the occasion of America’s 250th Foundation Day. He praised President Donald Trump and said that his role was important in achieving ceasefire during the tension between India and Pakistan. Sharif said that Pakistan will be grateful to Trump for his efforts to maintain peace in South Asia and he will be remembered as a peace-building leader.

Amidst the ongoing war between Iran and America, diplomatic activities at the regional level have intensified. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi may return to Pakistan after completing his tour of Oman and after that his next stop will be Russia. According to Reuters, this visit is part of an effort to garner support and dialogue regarding the current war.

Araghchi was earlier on a visit to Pakistan, where he met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Asim Munir and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. In these meetings, the relations between the two countries and the changing situation in the region were discussed. However, no major results emerged from these talks. Despite this, Araghchi described his visit as useful and said that he had made Iran’s position clear regarding ending the war.

Araghchi targets America

Targeting America, Araghchi said that now it is up to Washington to decide whether it really wants talks or not. Iran has been continuously blaming the policies of America and Israel for this war. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump canceled the proposed visit of the US delegation to Pakistan. Trump said that America has all the options and there is no need to travel long distances for useless talks. He also said that if Iran wants, it can contact itself. Araghchi is expected to meet senior officials in Oman’s capital Muscat. During this, along with the relations between the two countries, the regional situation will also be discussed. Oman has often played the role of mediator in such cases.

Tension increased regarding Strait of Hormuz

Meanwhile, the situation became more serious when tension regarding the Strait of Hormuz increased. This is an important sea route of the world, from where oil is supplied in large quantities. According to reports, after the situation worsened, the US Navy has increased its presence in the region, which may affect the global energy supply. On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has given a strong warning to America. Referring to the Tabas incident, he said that America had to face defeat here in history. He described it as a symbol of Iran’s strength and security from external threats.

Iran is avoiding direct talks with America

Iran is currently avoiding direct talks with America and is conveying its messages through countries like Pakistan. Iranian sources say that even though there is talk of a ceasefire, Tehran is in no mood to accept America’s strict conditions. The situation still remains uncertain. On one side diplomatic efforts are going on while on the other side the tension seems to be increasing instead of decreasing.

JD Vance has left for Pakistan to attend the meeting to be held in Islamabad with the aim of permanent peace between Iran and America. Along with expressing hope for positive talks with Iran, he also issued a warning. If the Iranian people are willing to negotiate in good faith, we are certainly ready to extend the hand of friendship to them. If they try to play tricks on us, they will come to know that our negotiating team is not so soft.

Islamabad was converted into a fort

The US and Iran agreed on Wednesday to a two-week conditional ceasefire, followed by a meeting in Islamabad to resolve differences and convert the current ceasefire into a permanent peace. Before the arrival of delegations from both the countries, security arrangements were reviewed in Islamabad on Friday (10 April 2026). More than 10,000 security personnel have been deployed in Islamabad regarding the proposed meeting. Pakistan’s capital Islamabad is immersed in an unusual silence these days. The normal activity on the streets has been replaced by the presence of security forces and traffic has been limited in many areas.

Questions being raised on Islamabad talks

After the announcement of ceasefire, what was done by Israel and what was said by America has raised questions about the confidence in the current situation.
