India-pakistan tension: Amid increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the national capital and many states have announced to shut down schools, blackouts in border districts and cancel the holidays of policemen and administrative officials. The Delhi government has canceled all its employees holidays till further orders on Thursday (May 08) due to increasing tension between India and Pakistan.

In the order issued late in the evening by the service department of the Delhi government, it was said that in view of the preparations for the current situation and any emergency, no officer of the Delhi government will be given leave till further orders.

All schools in Punjab closed for three days

Punjab government minister Harjot Singh Bains has said that in view of the changing situation, it is ordered that all government and private schools, colleges and universities in the whole of Punjab will be completely closed for the next three days. The holidays of all the policemen in Punjab have been canceled. The officers provided this information. The order issued by the Director General of Police Office said, “The approval of the competent authority should be given holidays only under special circumstances.”

All schools in six border districts of Punjab- Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran- have been closed till further orders.

8 hours blackout in Gurdaspur

Officials said that there will be a blackout of eight hours from 9 pm on Thursday night in Gurdaspur. The holidays of state police personnel and personnel working in the health department in neighboring state Haryana have been canceled till further orders. According to an order, in view of the intensity of armed conflict between India and Pakistan, any kind of leave has been banned in the Health and Police Department till further orders.

According to a letter sent to the civil surgeons, all the officers will be present at their current posting place and will not leave the district headquarters nor will the application of any holiday be approved till further orders.

Haryana CM canceled all programs

It states that if someone needs to go on leave, then the state headquarters will approve the application. Meanwhile, a spokesman of the State Police Department said that the holidays of police personnel have also been canceled till further orders. All political programs of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini have also been canceled.

Security has been increased in border districts including Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh adjacent to Punjab. An official said that famous temples like Baba Balak Nath, Maa Chintpurni and mother Naina Devi are located in Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur districts, so the police have increased security check there.

Policemen holiday canceled in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government has also canceled the vacation of administrative and policemen posted near the international border and has closed schools in five border districts. Blackout has been implemented in these areas from midnight to four o’clock on Friday morning to protect against the possible threat of air strikes.

The army has saluted the martyrdom of Dinesh Kumar. The army wrote on X, “General Upendra Dwivedi salutes the highest sacrifice of Dinesh Kumar, who sacrificed his life during a ceasefire violation by the Pakistani Army on the Line of Control on 07 May 2025.”

He said that the Indian Army is standing in solidarity with innocent citizens who have been victims of attacks through shelling in Poonch sector.

Haryana martyr dinesh Kumar sharma: Dinesh Kumar Sharma, a soldier from Haryana, was killed in firing from Pakistan in Poonch, Jammu. At the same time, many leaders including Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini have mourned his martyrdom. CM Saini said that the whole country is proud of the martyr Dinesh Kumar martyrdom.

Every country is proud of your martyrdom.

Veer son fought firmly- Surjewala
Apart from CM Saini, senior Congress leader and MP Randeep Singh Surjewala has also expressed grief over the martyrdom of martyr Dinesh Kumar. He said, “Dinesh Kumar Sharma, a brave son of Haryana’s land, Indian Army soldier Dinesh Kumar Sharma, fought the firing from Pakistan and gave the highest sacrifice of his life in defense of the motherland. His deployment was in Baramulla, Jammu.

‘Sacrifice given while protecting the country’
On the martyrdom of jawan Dinesh Kumar, Kumari Selja said, “Dinesh Kumar Sharma, the brave son of Palwal, Haryana in Jammu and Kashmir, sacrificed his life while protecting the country.

Regarding the Pak firing in Poonch, Deepender Hooda said, “The massacre of innocent citizens made by Pakistan in Poonch district will also be answered according to. Pakistan’s Mahakir army is showing its head by targeting innocent citizens. Our army was not targeted by a single civilian area. All the terrorists were not a hideout. The same difference.”

Pakistan Violates Ceasefire: Pakistani troops continued to violate the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu Kashmir and fired without any provocation in many sectors. Pakistan has firing with LoC –

Indian Army chief Upendra Dwivedi will go to Srinagar and Udhampur amid tension in the border. They will soon leave for here.
