According to officials, 344 people were killed in just 48 hours, out of which only 328 deaths occurred in the hill Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while 120 people were injured. Also, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has warned that the death toll may increase further, as dozens of people are missing in this disaster.

About 2,000 rescuers deployed in 9 districts

Provincial rescue agency spokesman Bilal Ahmed Faizi said, “In most areas, the rescuers are traveling on foot due to road closure.” People who save their lives in disaster told surprising experiences.

Azizullah, a resident of Buner, said, “Due to water, the land was shivering loudly and it seemed as if death was standing in front of me.” At the same time, local teacher Saifullah Khan involved in the campaign to remove the dead bodies said, ‘We still do not know who is alive in this small village and who is dead. I am helping to remove the bodies of children I have taught.

Rescue team’s helicopter crash

At the same time, a helicopter running a monsoon -affected rescue operation in northern Pakistan crashed on Friday (August 15, 2025), in which 5 crew members were killed. Chief Minister of Pakhtunkhwa province Ali Amin Gandapur said that this accident has occurred due to bad weather in Pandiali area of Mohammand district.
