Pakistan defense budget: Amid tension with India, Pakistan on Tuesday (June 11) increased its defense budget by 20 percent and allocated 2550 billion Pakistani rupees (US $ 9 billion) for FY 2025-26. Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb presented a federal budget of 17,573 billion Pakistani rupees for FY 2025-26 in ‘National Assembly’ (Parliament). He also introduced the budget document as the Finance Bill in the National Assembly. In the budget speech, the minister said that the government has decided to “allocate 2,550 billion Pakistani rupees to protect the country.”

Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb did not give any further information about defense spending, as traditionally the defense budget is not discussed in Parliament. In the current financial year 2024-25, the government allocated Rs 2,122 billion for defense spending, which is 14.98 percent more than Rs 1,804 billion for the financial year 2023-24.

Referring to Pakistan-India struggle
Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb recently mentioned the Pakistan-India struggle, saying, “This budget is being presented in a historic time when the nation has shown unity and determination.” Tension between India and Pakistan increased after the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam. On 7 May, India carried out accurate attacks on the terrorist structure in Pakistan and its occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor. 9 terrorist bases were targeted in this Hamal, in which more than 100 terrorists died. After this, Pakistan was quite shocked and started efforts to attack from across the border. In retaliation, India had completely destroyed many of their airbase while teaching Pakistan a lesson. India attacked the Bahramos missile and worsened the condition of the Pakistani Airforce. During this time India used a total of 19 Bahramos missiles.

India Pakistan Ceasefire: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif addressed his country on Saturday amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. During this, he said that many countries and leaders of the world supported Pakistan in the struggle with India, which gave them diplomatic support.

Sharif, in his address, special mention of US President Donald Trump, Saudi Crown Prince, Qatar’s rich and Turkish President and thanked him for his support. He said that Pakistan will not forget this cooperation. He also admitted that social media users associated with Pakistan played a role in running a false erection against India. Shahbaz Sharif also trolled on social media about this matter. However, India has continuously rejected these misinformation and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, while taking a tough stand in press briefing, warned Pakistan to behave seriously and responsibly.

Shahbaz told China cute friend

Expressing special gratitude to China, Pakistan’s PM Shahbaz Sharif said, ‘I have to mention them. I wholeheartedly thank China and the people there, who have always stood with Pakistan. He called China a reliable and dear friend and also said that China has stood with Pakistan in every difficult time.

What did Shahbaz say on the Indus Water Agreement?

Shahbaz Sharif also expressed confidence that a solution can also be found for Kashmir, water sharing and other controversial issues. He indicated in a way that Pakistan is now expecting a solution from diplomatic routes, which has been far away from negotiations for the last few years.

China supported Pakistan

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a conversation with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar that China will continue to support Pakistan’s sovereignty, regional integrity and freedom. He also reiterated that China will continue to play a creative role to reduce tension between India and Pakistan.

India’s tough message on violation of ceasefire

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri warned Pakistan at a press conference late at the press conference on violation of ceasefire. He said that if Pakistan violated further, the Indian armed forces have been instructed to take strict action. A few hours after the ceasefire, Pakistan started mortar and firing in the LoC and many border areas from Pakistan.

America’s role on ceasefire?

Initially, the announcement of the ceasefire was taken by US President Donald Trump through his post on social media platform Truth social. He said that this dialogue was successful in the media’s mediation, but the officials of India immediately made it clear that the decision was the result of direct negotiations at the DGMO level of both countries and no external intervention was included in it.
