Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is in the headlines. There is widespread discussion about the auction. Meanwhile, a video clip is also causing embarrassment. This is related to the scuffle between two air hostesses. Both are raising the flag of the country not in their own country but on foreign soil.

The video is from Jeddah Airport in Saudi Arabia, in which two air hostesses of Pakistan International Airlines are fighting, while PIA officials can be seen trying unsuccessfully to pacify them. When the clip went viral, PIA had to come into action.

Viral video of 23rd December

According to HUM News, this incident took place on December 23 at the International Departure Lounge of Jeddah Airport, when the PIA flight was about to go to Multan. According to sources, the fight started with a heated argument but soon turned into a fight.

During this time, a PIA officer present at the spot also tried to intervene, but the standing air hostess can clearly be seen raising her hand on her sitting colleague. Along with this, she can also be heard saying angrily ‘How did you say like this?’ The clip is only 12 seconds long,

Two air hostesses of PI A fought with each other at Jeddah airport. First exchange of bitter words and abuses. pic.twitter.com/XQTqj4wugs

PIA officers calmed down the commotion

In fact, the officers trying to establish peace between the two look at the person recording the video and say do not record the video. Later, the employees present there, on the condition of anonymity, said that both of them were making personal attacks on each other.

Despite his immediate intervention, video of the incident spread on social media, gaining public attention and raising questions about workplace discipline. After this, the airline, reiterating its promise of professional behaviour, suspended both the employees pending investigation.

PIA suspended both air hostesses

A PIA spokesperson confirmed the incident and said the airline takes matters of discipline and professional conduct very seriously. The spokesperson further said, ‘Both the air hostesses have been suspended and investigation has been started. As per company rules, action will be taken against those responsible.

The incident has sparked a conversation about workplace behavior and the challenges airline staff face. Meanwhile, PIA has assured the people that steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in future and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards misbehavior of its employees.

Pakistani Army managed to enter Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) through backdoor. This was already anticipated and it was confirmed on Thursday (December 25, 2025). Just two days before the bidding, the Army had recused itself as a bidder. Since then, local media and world media had started speculating that the purpose of withdrawing the name was not what it seemed.

According to Geo News, Arif Habib Consortium has announced the joining of Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFPL) in its consortium. Arif Habib has acquired 75 percent stake in Pakistan International Airlines by making the highest bid of Rs 135 billion in the auction held for the privatization process of Pakistan’s government airlines.

Consortium issued statement

The consortium said in its statement issued on Thursday (December 25, 2025) that this partnership will provide financial support and corporate expertise to the airline. It also said that Fauji Fertilizer will also be a part of the management along with Arif Habib Consortium. The consortium will invest Rs 125 billion in the first year to upgrade ground operations and overall services.

What is the relation of Habib Consortium with Pakistani Army?

If we talk about Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited, which is ready to become a part of Habib Consortium. After all, what relation does it have with the army? FFPL is a fertilizer manufacturing company of Pakistan established in the year 1978. This is a part of Fauji Foundation, which is associated with Pakistan Army. A total of four companies were part of the bidding process. At the last moment, FFPL distanced itself. There were many reasons for this.

The biggest thing is that Arif Habib Consortium bid Rs 4,320 crore more than the government had expected, whereas the government had estimated Rs 3,200 crore, it got Rs 1,320 crore more, this much certainly FFPL could not have done. Second, as per the prescribed rules, the losing company cannot even participate in PIA management. If this had happened then the dream of recently appointed CDF Asim Munir to interfere in the aviation sector would have been shattered.

Pakistani army wanted to save its reputation

Another important reason was to save one’s reputation. Actually, the path of privatization is being taken only with the help of IMF. Now if the Army had taken part in this, it would have sent a wrong message, because according to the terms of the auction only a private company could buy the stake. The fear of losing in bidding and being out of the game was the greatest. Getting out once meant missing out on any form of comeback. Munir simply kept the return path under his control, because one of the rules of the auction was that the winning company can make an alliance with anyone if it wants.

Pakistan International Airlines: Neighboring country Pakistan is currently going through a deep economic crisis. On one hand, inflation, foreign debt and weak currency have broken the back of its economy, on the other hand, the poor financial condition of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), which has been running in losses for a long time, was also in the headlines. Now the picture has become completely clear in this matter. The Government of Pakistan has finally sold the national aviation company Pakistan International Airlines. This airline has been handed over to Arif Habib Consortium for 135 billion Pakistani rupees, which is considered a big deal in the privatization history of Pakistan.

Pakistan International Airlines sold

Arif Habib Group, Lucky Cement and private airline AirBlue submitted their bids in sealed envelopes during a formal event held in Islamabad. As per the set rules, the two companies with the highest bids – Arif Habib and Lucky Cement were given a chance to compete head-to-head in the open auction.

In this decisive phase, Arif Habib Group won by bidding 135 billion Pakistani rupees. Earlier, the Pakistan government had made an attempt to sell PIA last year too, but that deal was canceled due to not getting the expected price. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif termed this deal as the biggest privatization deal in the history of Pakistan and termed the entire bidding process as transparent and fair.

What is the salary of PIA air hostess?

After the sale of PIA, one question which is constantly being discussed among the people is the salary of air hostesses working in Pakistan International Airlines. Generally, cabin crew is seen as a prestigious and attractive profession in any airline, so people’s curiosity is natural.

According to reports, the starting salary of an air hostess in PIA ranges between 80 thousand to 1.20 lakh Pakistani rupees per month. With increasing experience and adding various allowances, this salary can reach 4 to 5 lakh Pakistani rupees. On an average, a PIA air hostess is expected to get a monthly salary of around Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 lakh.

If we compare it with other private airlines of Pakistan, the picture becomes more clear. The estimated salary of an air hostess in Serine Air is said to be between 70 thousand to 1 lakh Pakistani rupees, whereas Airblue offers a package of around 65 thousand to 95 thousand rupees per month to its cabin crew including housing allowance.

It is clear from these figures that Pakistan International Airlines has been giving better and more attractive salary packages to its employees as compared to private airlines. However, now everyone’s eyes are fixed on what changes will happen in the salary structure and conditions of employees in PIA after it goes into private hands.

Also read: Pakistan’s worst condition in the last 5 months, unable to survive despite IMF’s mercy

Pakistan’s economic condition has now deteriorated so much that it has to sell its government airline Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the auction of this airline will be shown live on 23 December 2025. This decision has been taken in view of the strong pressure from the IMF and the tough conditions of the bailout package.

Four big names are involved in the race to buy PIA. Among these four, the most talked about is Fauji Fertilizer Company, which is directly linked to the Fauji Foundation, which is under the influence of the Pakistani Army. Considering the deep hold of the army in Pakistan’s politics and economy, it is believed that ultimately this airline may fall into the hands of the same group. The remaining contenders also include Lucky Cement Group, Arif Habib Corp and Air Blue Limited. This is the first time that Pakistan will show the bid of a government airline live publicly.

Economy survived only on IMF’s terms

Pakistan has been running on debt after debt for the last several years. In 2023, the country was almost on the verge of bankruptcy. Defense expenditure continued to increase and revenue continued to decline. The number of loans taken from IMF has exceeded 20, while the country’s own economic capacity is very low. IMF approved a bailout package of $7 billion, but kept the condition that Pakistan should reform government companies, reduce losses and privatize sinking companies like PIA.

How did PIA collapse?

PIA, which was once respected internationally, went into the depths of ruin due to its own mistakes. In 2020, it was revealed that the licenses of almost one-third of Pakistani pilots were fake or doubtful. After this revelation, Europe, Britain and America banned PIA flights. Along with this, corruption, political interference, kinship-based recruitment and crowding of non-essential employees completely ruined the airline. This company, which incurs losses of billions every year, became the biggest economic disease of Pakistan.

countries in debt

Pakistan has now reached a point where it has to take new loans even to repay the old loans. In such a situation, privatization of PIA has become a compulsion for it. Apart from fulfilling the conditions of IMF, Pakistan does not see any other option. In the coming years, it will be seen whether the country is able to stop its economic decline after selling PIA or not.

India extends ban on pak airlines: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India not only retaliated by running ‘Operation Sindoor’ and broke the back of the terrorists, but also taught a strong lesson to the neighboring country of Pakistan. India not only gave a befitting reply on the military front, but also hurt Pakistan’s economy. Now once again, India has taken counter action and has increased the ban on Pakistan Airlines in its aircraft for a month to the morning of 24 October.

Closed aircraft for Pakistan

This decision was taken on Monday in the NOTAM issued by the Indian Aviation Authorities. This step of India has come at a time when Pakistan issued a notice to keep the aircraft closure for the Indian Airlines for the same period. In this way, it has been almost six months when both countries have closed each other’s aircraft.

Ban started from 24 April

Significantly, after the Pahalgam terror attack in April, the relationship between New Delhi and Islamabad got worse. After this, Pakistan banned Indian aircraft in its aircraft, in response to which India also banned Pakistan Airlines. Since then, both countries have been increasing this ban by issuing demonetisation. However, this ban is only on the airlines of India and Pakistan, the airlines of the rest of the countries are allowed to use the aircraft of both countries.

Effect on 800 weekly flights

Around 800 weekend flights of India are being affected by Pakistan’s aerpace closure. These include flights from India to West Asia, Europe, UK and North America, which now have to go a long way. According to aviation analytics company Sirikam, only six flights of Pakistan Airlines (Lahore and Islamabad to Kuala Lumpur) used Indian aircraft.

But the situation is far more challenging for Indian airlines. Air India flights go to West Asia, Europe, North America and UK. Indigo flights operate from India to West Asia, Türkiye and Central Asia. Due to the shutdown of Pakistan’s aircraft, these airlines either have to take a long route or some flights have to be closed temporarily.

Pakistan International Airlines: Pakistan authorities have decided to renew the sale of its sale after an attempt to sell the government airline Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) last year. Privatization of PIA, which is facing cash crisis, has been considered for years and was bid in 2024, but the government failed to attract a big buyer.

Pakistan is not getting buyers

The government of Pakistan said that the only bidding company offered only 10 billion rupees which was rejected. Privatization and Investment Minister Abdul Alim Khan said last month that the privatization work of PIA will be done by May 2025. It was decided to start the sale process from next week in the meeting of the privatization Commission on Wednesday (16 April 2025). The meeting was chaired by the chairman of the Commission and advisor to the Prime Minister on privatization.

Pia has been struggling with financial crisis for many years

The statement said, “There is a plan to publish a new advertisement for the expression of interest for the separation of PIACL.” It said that a meeting will be held to consider the remaining items of the agenda. The PIA has been facing financial crisis for the last several years. This problem came to light in 2023 when 7,000 PIA employees did not get the salary of November 2023. Earlier, the European Union banned the PIA in 2020 due to security concerns.

The Commission has approved the bid for privatization of 51 per cent to 100 per cent shares of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL). According to FY 2024, the PIA earned an operating profit of Rs 3.9 billion and a net profit of Rs 2.26 billion. The airline went into losses in 2011 and was running on a government subsidy of billions of rupees.

Pakistan Airport Authority: The condition of Pakistan and Pakistani airlines is not good. Pictures of Pakistani Airlines on social media platforms are often viral, in which their poor condition is seen. After the pictures surfaced, Pakistan also has to face gritty. At the same time, many times it becomes a gritty international level. To avoid this, now Pakistan has now implemented a new rule in the whole country.

Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has issued a new decision in this matter. PAA has said that from now on, no person will be able to make photos or videos at any airport inside Pakistan and in any flight. These rules will also apply to flight maintenance sites along with the entire airport. Apart from this, Pakistan Airport Authority has implemented this rule to all airlines and aviation companies in its decision.

These people got the right to take photographs and shoot videos

Pakistan Airport Authority has clearly stated in its decision that only the concerned engineers and maintenance employees in Pakistan will have the right to shoot photos or videos during the maintenance of the aircraft, that is also only when the need will be understood. Otherwise, action will be taken against the person who took out the photo and video. At the same time, special arrangements have been made in Pakistan to fully implement this decision.

Finally Paa Why did this decision,

In fact, Pakistan’s Airport Authority took this decision because some time ago a photo of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight went viral on social media platforms. After this photo went viral, Pakistan was very insulted. For this reason, Pakistan Airport Authority has implemented this decision.
