A big program took place at the Naval Shipyard in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, in which the second Milgem class corvette warship PNS Khyber was handed over to the Pakistan Navy. This ship will further strengthen the Pakistani Navy. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presided over the ceremony on 20 December 2025, while Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naved Ashraf was also present.

PNS Khyber is part of Turkey’s Milgem project.

This is the second ship of the PNS Khyber Babur class, which is part of Turkey’s Milgem project. Pakistan has received the first ship PNS Babar in May 2024. According to the report of Defense Security Asia, in 2018, an agreement for four ships was signed between Pakistan and Turkish company ASFAT. The total value of this agreement is 1.5 billion dollars (about Rs 13.44 thousand crores). That means the price of one Corvette is Rs 3.36 thousand crores.

Of these, two ships were built in Turkey, while the remaining two, PNS Bedar (in 2026) and PNS Tariq (in 2027), are being built at Karachi Shipyard with Turkish technical help. This deal also includes technology transfer, which will enable Pakistan to develop the capability to build such ships itself.

What are the special features of PNS Khyber?

According to the report of Global Defense News-

Length: about 108 meters

Weight(Displacement): about 3,000 tons

Maximum Speed: More than 26 knots (about 50 km/h)

Range: About 3,500 nautical miles (about 6,500 km)

Walking Ability: 15 days non stop

Propulsion: Two diesel engines and one gas turbine (CODAG system)

Apart from this, PNS Khyber is also equipped with hangar and flight deck for helicopters, advanced radar, sonar and combat management system. This ship is highly capable of surface warfare (fighting on the sea), anti-submarine warfare (combating submarines) and air defense.

What weapons are fitted with PNS Khyber?

It has many weapons including a large 76 mm cannon, multiple cruise missiles to attack ships and land, the ability to shoot down air defense missiles with 12 cell Vertical Launch System (VLS), lightweight torpedoes and 35 mm and 25 mm close-in weapon systems.

Does India need to be afraid of this or not?

This ship definitely strengthens the Pakistan Navy. This is a multi-role ship with modern technology, which will increase Pakistan’s presence in the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean. Through Pakistan-Turkey defense partnership, Pakistan is getting new technology, which earlier mainly came from China. This may have some impact on the regional marine balance. But India has no need to fear this. The Indian Navy is very large and modern.

India has two aircraft carriers (INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya), several destroyers, frigates, submarines and missile boats. The numbers, technology and experience of the Indian Navy is much more than that of Pakistan. India is continuously strengthening its navy, such as adding new destroyers and frigates. Experts believe that this ship will increase the defense capability of Pakistan, but there will remain a big gap in comparison to the Indian Navy. India will maintain its strong position in the maritime sector.

Ever since the formation of the interim government of Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh, its relations with Pakistan have improved significantly. Because of this, for the first time in the last 54 years, a Pakistani naval ship has reached Chittagong port. Pakistan Navy’s PNS Saif, which is a Chinese-made F-22P Zulfikar class missile frigate. He has reached Bangladesh for 4 days. This is the same Bangladesh, which was liberated by India in 1971 from the oppressive rule of the then West Pakistan, hence the historical and political significance of this visit is very deep.

Bangladesh Navy has confirmed the arrival of the ship in its Facebook post. He informed that the ship, commanded by Captain Shujaat Abbas Raja, was warmly welcomed by the Commander of Chittagong Naval Area and officials of the Pakistani Embassy. BNS Shadinota formally welcomed the ship as it entered Bangladeshi waters.

Diplomatic signals and India’s concerns

This visit took place at a time when India had defeated the neighboring country Pakistan under Operation Sindoor. On the contrary, the interim government in Dhaka led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus is trying to correct its old relations with Pakistan.

China’s influence and regional equation

PNS Saif is built in China. It was inducted into the Pakistan Navy in 2010. This matter is even more sensitive for Indian political experts, because China is not only Pakistan’s largest defense partner, but is also deepening naval cooperation with Bangladesh.

Reference to the visit of the American warship

A month ago, US Navy’s USA Fitzgerald had reached Chittagong port of Bangladesh for 3 days. USA Fitzgerald Arleigh Burke class missile destroyer. This clearly shows that Bangladesh is now making its ports the center of global naval diplomacy. Where big powers like America, Pakistan and China are making their presence felt.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement in ‘Sir Creek’ area has created a stir in Pakistan. Immediately, Pakistani Navy Chief visited the disputed ‘Sir Creek’ area and deployed three hovercrafts here.

According to the information, Pakistani Navy Chief Admiral Naved Ashraf visited the forward post of Sir Creek. During this period, Ashraf made every effort to protect Pakistani sovereignty from Sir Creek to Jiwani in Balochistan. Besides, hovercraft (boats) that run on water and land were also handed over to the Pakistani Navy. Pakistan has purchased this hovercraft from England.

Defense Minister’s warning to Pakistan

On the occasion of Dussehra, Rajnath Singh visited Sir Creek area and performed Shastra Puja with Indian soldiers. At that time, Rajnath Singh warned Pakistan clearly that if any nefarious act was done in Sir Creek area, the history and geography of Pakistan would change again.

Giving the example of Lahore during the 1965 war, Rajnath Singh instructed Pakistan that the road to Karachi also passes through Sir Creek. In 1965, Pakistan started the war against India from Sir Creek area itself, but later had to face defeat.

Pakistani military infrastructure increased in Sir Creek

Rajnath Singh had said that even after 78 years of independence, a dispute is raised by Pakistan regarding the border in Sir Creek area. India has tried several times to resolve this issue through dialogue, but Pakistan’s intentions are flawed, its intentions are not clear. The way Pakistan Army has recently increased its military infrastructure in the areas adjacent to Sir Creek, it reveals its intentions.

Rajnath Singh said that Indian Army and BSF (Border Security Force) are jointly protecting India’s borders. If any attempt is made by Pakistan in Sir Creek area, it will get such a befitting reply that both history and geography will change.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" loading="lazy" src="https://i0.wp.com/feeds.abplive.com/onecms/images/uploaded-images/2025/10/26/f8a3e5025b7dbd213b506c0e90c0813a1761483876012769_original.jpg?w=640&ssl=1" alt="Is Pakistan planning to wage war in Sir Creek like 1965?
The road to Karachi passes through Sir Creek

The Defense Minister said in a clear tone that Pakistan should remember that a road to Karachi passes through the creek. Rajnath Singh said that during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan made an unsuccessful attempt to penetrate India’s defense system from Leh to this area of Sir Creek.

He said that the Indian forces, in their retaliatory action, completely exposed the Pakistani air defense system and gave a message to the world that the Indian forces can cause huge damage to Pakistan whenever, wherever and however they want.

Pakistan has taken another big step regarding its military activities. After the air exercise, Pakistan has now started preparing for missile testing in the Arabian Sea region. Under this, Pakistan has issued a live firing drill (missile firing exercise) on behalf of the Navy in the North Arabian region between July 23 and July 25. This means that on these dates, air and navigation activities in this area will be affected.

Pakistan’s army recently tested the Shaheen-3 missile capable of carrying nuclear weapons, but the test failed completely. The missile deviated from its target and exploded near an atomic center in Dera Ghazi Khan (Punjab province). Its debris fell into the Matt area of Dera Bugti district of Balochistan, which was just 500 meters from civil settlements. The debris dropped in Grapan Revine near Loop Sehrani Levi station caused a strong explosion, causing panic among the local people.

Question on Pakistan’s missile capabilities

After this accident, Pakistan’s army stopped internet service in the area, banned media coverage and instructed citizens to stay in homes. This incident not only questions Pakistan’s missile capabilities, but also increases concern about the safety of common people in Balochistan.

What is Shaheen-3 missile?

Shaheen-3 is Pakistan’s longest distance-hit surface-to-surface ballistic missile, with a range of about 2750 km. It is capable of carrying nuclear weapons and its construction began in the 2000s with China’s technical help. Pakistan sees it as a strategic answer to India, but repeated unsuccessful tests put a serious question mark on its credibility.

Pakistan Navy Crisis: Pakistan Navy is in deep crisis after Operation Sindoor. His warship fleet is outdated, the morale of the authorities is broken, and the number of current submarines is very low. Amidst India’s growing naval power, heavy pressure on Pakistan’s Navy is clearly visible. According to News18, sources say that the presence of the Pakistani Navy has now become almost negligible in the Arabian Sea strategically. Open-source reports and marine surveillance data have shown that most of the major warships stand at the Karachi naval base and are not active in the sea.

Repair failure and leadership crisis
Experts believe that the main reason for this situation is the limited ability to repair, the failure of the shipyard, the leadership crisis and the operation sindoor is the falling morale of the soldiers. This was the same operation in which the Indian armed forces targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April.

Only two current submarines, training stalled
According to sources, at present, Pakistan’s Navy has only two active submarines. Everyone else is standing on the base and not active. The situation is so serious that training opportunities in the Navy have also decreased, as most ships are engaged in repair for a long time.

Ships are handed over to young officers who have been trained by training from Naval Academy which have been in a repair position for months. Due to this, an entire generation is getting prepared, which is not getting the real experience of working in the sea, which is affecting their efficiency.

India considers Pakistan’s water area as ’empty region’
Sources said that the Navy of Pakistan has either canceled or postponed its military exercises. At the same time, the Indian Navy has increased the scope of its patrolling and exercise and the Pakistani is looking at the maritime sector like an unrealistic area.

What is the reason for the repair crisis?

Old fleet, expensive repair
The major surface-wittings of the Pakistani Navy such as Type-21 frigate, which were taken from the Royal Navy of Britain in the 1990s, have now surpassed their service period. They often require more expensive repairs, but their parts have become rare and expensive because manufacturers have stopped production of these systems.

Ships purchased from many countries, different techniques
Pakistan has bought its warships from China, Türkiye, America and Britain. Every ship requires separate technical expertise, separate components reserves and special repair procedures. This diversity is overshadowing Pakistan’s Navy structure.

Technical problems in Chinese warships
Type-054A frigate in China found between 2021 and 2023, the radar and engine systems are having frequent technical malfunctions, due to which they often have to return to the shipyard.

Ship repair capacity limited, increased expenditure
Karachi Shipyard lacks the required diagnostic equipment and sugar software, which is disrupting the repair of Type-054A frigate. Efforts to create technical cooperation with China are also not able to succeed due to expensive cost and conditions of technical transfer.

What happened strategic effects?

Navy failed in the Arabian Sea
If the Navy of Pakistan does not exist firmly in the Arabian Sea, then the Navy of India is considering it as an empty area and increasing its practice and patrolling.

Strategic importance of Gwadar port declined
China has made large investments in Gwadar port and related projects. But if Pakistan cannot provide security, then the strategic value of these projects decreases greatly.

The trust of partner countries shake
The cancellation of naval exercises and unavailability of ships has damaged Pakistan as an incredible defense partner.

India-pakistan navy: The relations between India and Pakistan have been sensitive for years. Meanwhile, the situation has become more critical after the Pahalgam terror attack. This tension seems to be increasing to marine borders. The Pakistani Navy has claimed that it has detected the Indian Navy’s P-8i surveillance aircraft in the Arabian Sea. However, it was not clarified in which particular area this aircraft was flying.

The P-8i surveillance aircraft, also known as ‘eye’, is a very important reconnaissance and maritime surveillance aircraft for the Indian Navy. It is capable of monitoring enemy activities deeply and identifying submarines. P-8i Posidon aircraft is prepared by Boeing. It is specially designed for maritime war.

P-8i aircraft specialty
The Indian Navy’s P-8i surveillance aircraft is used for many important tasks, which is as follows.

Long distance monitoring sea

Identification and target of submarine

Collecting intelligence

Enemy’s warship activities

However, in the meantime, giving information about the presence of this aircraft from Pakistan indicates that the activity of intelligence and maneuvers at the sea level between the two countries has intensified.

Strategic exercise
The navies of the two countries are currently busy with maneuvers and firing drills in their respective areas. India recently tested the medium range surface -to -air missile from INS Surat, while Pakistan is also doing maritime exercises. In this situation, the claim made by Pakistan regarding the presence of P-8i is clearly showing its fury.

Rising activities in the Arabian Sea
The Arabian Sea is an area where navies of countries like India, Pakistan, Iran and America are active. In such a situation, any activity is seen with suspicion. Experts believe that such incidents can further increase regional tension, especially when there is a lack of communication and there is no transparency.

Pakistan-Sryilanka Military Exercise: After India’s concern, Sri Lanka canceled the naval exercise with Pakistan. This exercise was to be near the Tinkomali port in Sri Lanka, which is strategically very important. An energy center (energy center) is also being built at this place with the help of India. India objected to the fact that Pakistan’s Navy should practice near an important port like Tinkomali. India raised its concern in front of Sri Lanka. After this, Sri Lanka decided to cancel the practice despite Pakistan’s opposition.

According to HT’s report, this naval exercise was scheduled to take place a few days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka. In this tour, there was an agreement of defense cooperation between India and Sri Lanka and also an agreement between India, Sri Lanka and UAE to build an energy center in Tinkomali, including a pipeline.

Pakistan was engaged in provoking India

The proposal of naval exercise by Pakistan near the Tinkomali port in Sri Lanka was considered an attempt to instigate India. This incident happened at a time when Sri Lanka has banned the arrival of foreign research ships for one year. This ban was imposed due to increasing activities of China’s monitoring ships. The mutual alliance between China and Pakistan is already known.

According to sources, as soon as India came to know that Pakistan’s Navy is going to practice in Tinkomali, India contacted the Sri Lanka government in Colombo through its high yoga and asked to stop the practice. Pakistan also opposed this, but Sri Lanka, understanding India’s concern, canceled the practice.

India did not give any statement

No official statement has come from India on this whole matter. It is also not clear what the dates of practice between Pakistan and Sri Lanka were decided. However, it has definitely been revealed that a warship of Pakistan, PNS, came to the Colombo port in Sri Lanka in the months of February and March. During that time, PNS Ashaat practiced a moneyx with a Sri Lankan warship. This practice was associated with communication and strategy.
