Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given a big statement on terrorism on Friday (January 16, 2026). He said that Pakistan is fully committed to defeating terrorism. This threat of extremism will be thrown into the Indian Ocean.

Shehbaz Sharif made this statement on Friday (January 16, 2026) during a meeting with senior religious leaders representing the National Message-e-Aman Committee. He said, ‘We are determined to defeat terrorism and with the support of the public, we will throw it into the Indian Ocean.’

More than 1 lakh Pakistanis died due to terrorism- Sharif

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that terrorists have the support of Pakistan’s enemies. He also said that more than one lakh Pakistani citizens have been killed so far due to terrorism and the international community should accept these huge sacrifices of Pakistan.

Mentioned military conflict with India

Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif tried to praise himself by mentioning India’s Operation Sindoor and military conflict with Pakistan. He said that last year in May 2025, Pakistan demonstrated its strength during the four-day conflict with India.

Pakistan is rich in natural resources- Shahbaz

Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is rich in natural resources, whose value is in trillions of dollars. If these resources are exploited effectively, then problems like poverty and unemployment can be controlled in the country. He said that if we make proper use of these hidden treasures, all our problems can end.

Committee condemned TTP and Afghan Taliban

This committee of religious leaders in Pakistan was formed last year to fight against extremism, hate speech, terrorism and communalism in the country. The committee has strongly condemned both Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Afghan Taliban. The committee has also stressed that there is no justification for terrorism under any circumstances. PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that this committee will play an important role in strengthening the national discourse against extremism and terrorism.

Shashi tharoor on pakistan: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said on Tuesday (June 3) that there is no problem language in interaction with Pakistan, but needs to find a common approach for civilization and peace. He emphasized that if Pakistan takes action against every terrorist infrastructure in the country, then India can interact with it.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an all -party parliamentary delegation in Brazil, said that his team successfully conveyed India’s message against terrorism to Latin American countries, including countries that may have some misunderstandings.

Talking to PTI, Tharoor said, ‘We tell our negotiaters that if Pakistan is as innocent as it claims, then why does it shelter the desired terrorists? After all, how can they (in Pakistan) live in peace, run training camps and make people radical, arms and motivate people to practice their weapons and rifles? ”

You should tighten the infrastructure of terrorism- Shashi Tharoor

Tharoor said, ‘We can talk to them in Hindustani. We can talk to them in Punjabi. We can talk to them in English. There is no problem in finding a shared base with Pakistan. The problem is to find a shared approach for civilization and peace. We want peace, want to develop. But they do not want to leave us alone. They want to bother us. They want to weaken us. They want to finish India by giving thousands of wounds, but they will not be able to finish so easily. It would be better to forget this idea.

BRICS has a separate agenda- Shashi Tharoor

Brazil is hosting the 11th BRICS parliamentary platform, in such a situation whether India hopes that Brazil can issue a statement on the use of terrorism against Indian citizens, to which Tharoor said, ‘I honestly say that I think there is a separate agenda of BRICS. I am not saying that they do not want to express solidarity. I do not know and I do not even know whether it is in the draft or not they are already working.

Those who can be misunderstanding, also sent a clear message to them- Shashi Tharoor

On the question whether the country is recognizing India’s attitude against terrorism, Tharoor said that his delegation has so far traveled to four countries- Guyana, Panama, Columbia and Brazil and this has been very clear in the countries where we have gone.

Referring to Colombia, he said, ‘I would say that we have got very clear success in all four countries, if this is the word then I do not like to tell success. Others have to decide this. But we have sent our message very clearly, even to those who can have some misunderstanding.

Tharoor said that Colombia has withdrawn the statement expressing condolences to Pakistan on the loss of life and property after India’s military attacks in response to the Pahalgam attack. He said, “As a result of delivering our message, we have come back realizing that these countries understand our situation better and express complete solidarity with our struggle against terrorism, which is the main objective of our journey.”

America -led delegation will go to America from Brazil

On a question asked about the expectations of the delegation from the visit of Washington DC, Tharoor said, ‘My expectations are that it will be a challenging journey. We will have different types of viewers. Given some information spread all around, we have got some interesting and possibly challenging questions, which we will be very happy to answer.

Tharoor said in a post on ‘X’ that the delegation held intensive meetings in Brazil, which gave us a lot for happiness, both the government’s highest levels and legislatures, both the levels, were confirmed the solidarity and goodwill for India at all levels.
