Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday (October 03, 2025) claimed that many countries have shown interest in signing a defense agreement with Islamabad and suggested that if more countries are involved in the Saudi-Pakistan mutual defense agreement, it would be formed like NATO.

Addressing Parliament on the issue of recently announced Gaza Shanti Yojana by President Donald Trump, Dar also spoke about the officially signed ‘strategic mutual defense agreement’ with Saudi Arabia on 18 September. He said that many countries, Arabia and non-Arab Islamic nations have shown interest in joining the defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

‘Pakistan will lead Islamic world’

Dar said, “Many other countries have shown interest in making a defense agreement with Pakistan and many countries have approached Pakistan during the United Nations General Assembly.” He suggested that if more countries join it, then it will become an alliance like NATO.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that other countries can also be included in this agreement, which will probably be converted into ‘new NATO or eastern NATO’. He expressed confidence that Pakistan would one day lead the Islamic world. He said, ‘Pakistan will lead 57 Islamic countries with the will of God.’

‘Pakistan will try to become economic power’

Dar emphasized that Pakistan is already an atomic and missile power, but now it should also try to become an economic power, which can be achieved only through collective efforts. He said, ‘This is a very important agreement, it was not done without thinking or in a hurry.’

Detailed information about the agreement has not been shared, but a joint statement issued after the signature ceremony states that any attack against any country will be considered an attack against both.

Ishaq Dar said about Pakistani struggle with India

Recalling the four -day struggle with India in May, Dar said that such an attack on Pakistan was considered an attack on Saudi Arabia under the Defense Agreement. Pakistan trains Saudi forces

Asif said that this is not an ‘aggressive agreement’, but a defensive system like NATO. He said that Pakistan has been training Saudi forces for a long time and recent developments are only a formal expansion. He said, “If there is an attack, whether it is on Saudi Arabia or Pakistan, we will jointly compete with it.”

Asif said that Pakistan’s big military and air force contingent have been present in Saudi Arabia for decades. He said, ‘I believe that the relationship that (pre -existing) is now further defined and that understanding has been given the form of a defense agreement.’

Reacting to the agreement, India, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal has said that India will study the effects of this agreement on its national security as well as regional and global stability. Jaiswal said that India is committed to protecting its national interests and ensuring widespread national security in all fields.

When Asif was asked whether America was taken into confidence in this matter, he said that he feels that there is no role or justification of any third party. He said, “This agreement will not be a part of any dominance system, but a defensive system.”
