Pakistan, which was defeated by India in Operation Sindoor, is busy strengthening its security. Pakistan Navy has successfully tested the indigenous ‘Taimur’ air launched cruise missile. This test has increased Pakistan’s maritime attack capability. Earlier on April 16, it had also tested an indigenous anti-ship missile.

‘Taimur’ is an anti-ship missile system. It is specially designed to be launched from a ship. This missile is capable of attacking both land and sea up to a distance of about 600 kilometers. Pakistan always fears that if there is a military conflict with India, it will be difficult to save Karachi or Gwadar situated on the banks of the Arabian Sea. Asim Munir, who is engaged in this mission, has prepared a missile that can hit a distance of 600 kilometers. Pakistan wants to show that if there is a conflict in this area then that conflict can be dangerous.

How dangerous is Taimur?

Taimur is an indigenous, low visibility air-launched cruise missile, developed under Pakistan’s NESCOM and Global Industrial and Defense Solutions. It is considered to be an upgrade of Ra’ad and Ra’ad II missiles. However, it has been designed for maritime attack operations. Pakistan says that this weapon can cover a distance of up to 600 kilometers, due to which the launching aircraft can remain well beyond the firepower of many naval air defense systems, that is, any fighter aircraft from Pakistan’s airspace can target any aircraft carrier or ship in the North Arabian Sea.

What is Taimur’s speed?

According to the report of Defense Security Asia, this missile is equipped with 400 to 450KG high explosive warhead, with which this missile can destroy destroyer ships, frigate ships, ships and logistics support ships. Taimur will be powered by a turbojet engine, its speed is about Mach 0.8, which makes it subsonic, but if it remains below the radar horizon then it is still difficult to stop it.

Also read – Technology transfer and preparation in India itself… Russia made a strong offer of 100 Su-57 fighter jets, China and Pakistan will be shocked!

Will Taimur be able to do any harm to INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant?

According to the report, its flight profile allows it to fly at altitudes as low as 152 metres, while the missile can also operate at higher altitudes during transit before descending towards the target area. Pakistan has developed Taimur specifically to target INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant, which operate with convoys of destroyers and frigate ships. These ships rely heavily on long-range sensors and multi-layered defensive missiles like Barak-8 to protect against incoming cruise missile threats, which the Taimur missile cannot do anything to.
