The Trump administration has expressed confidence in Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir in the matter of important minerals, but according to a report, this bet is going to fail. Pakistan’s internal instability, increasing power of militants and American weapons reaching their hands are weakening this partnership.

Munir lured Trump with critical minerals

According to the report of Times of India, Pakistan has offered major minerals to America, because the Trump administration is focusing on critical minerals like copper, lithium, cobalt, gold, rare earth to reduce China’s hold. The main project is Reko Diq in Balochistan, which:

• One of the largest undeveloped copper-gold deposits in the world.
• Barrick Gold (Canadian company) has 50% stake, Government of Pakistan has 25% stake and Government of Balochistan has 25% stake.
• In December 2025, the US Export-Import Bank approved financing of $1.25 billion.
• Pakistan claims that it has mineral reserves worth up to $8 trillion.
• In September 2025, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Munir showed a box of rare earth minerals to Trump at the White House. Trump had called Munir ‘my favorite field marshal’.

Why are critical minerals important for Trump?

China has more than 90% of rare earth processing in the world. In the future, due to EV, AI and electrification, the demand for copper may double by 2050. For this reason America wants an alternative supply chain.

But why might this bet fail?

The minerals are mostly in Balochistan and Afghan border areas, where the security situation is deteriorating. There are 5 big reasons why Trump’s bet failed:

1. Militants better equipped: American weapons (M-16, M-4, M249 machine guns, Remington sniper rifles, night vision devices) left behind after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 are now with groups like TTP, BLA and ISKP. CNN showed more than 100 such weapons in Pakistani border areas, whose serial numbers showed that they were given to Afghan forces. Now instead of IED, attacks are using long range firing and night attacks. Allah Uddin, a Pakistani soldier, said he was angry after losing both his legs in the ambush because the militants’ weapons were ‘different and better’.

2. Increasing violence in Balochistan: Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) carried out coordinated attacks in January 2026, which resulted in more than 33 deaths. Pakistan launched ‘Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1’ and claimed to have killed 216 militants, but 36 civilians and 22 security personnel were also killed. 2025 was the most dangerous year of Balochistan. There were more than 254 attacks at that time, in which more than 400 deaths occurred. Militants are now hijacking trains, blocking highways and occupying areas.

3. Impact on Reco Dick: Barrick Gold CEO Mark Hill said in February 2026 that the company was conducting a full review of the project. Investors are afraid whether the project will be able to start in 2028 or not.

4. Afghanistan Connection: The Taliban have captured the weapons and Pakistan accuses them of providing shelter to the militants. Trump asked for weapons back, but has not achieved any success.

5. Attacks increased after power went into the hands of Munir: On 6 February 2026, a suicide bombing took place at the Khadija Tul Kubra Shia Mosque in Tarlai Kalan on the outskirts of Islamabad. In this attack, 31 to 32 people were killed and more than 160 to 170 were injured. The attack took place during Jumma prayers, where the bomber wore an explosive vest and detonated himself. Islamic State (ISIS) took responsibility for this. Earlier in November 2025, there were 12 deaths outside the court. This clearly showed the weakness of security even in the capital of Pakistan, where General Munir and the government make tall claims.

So what will be its consequences?

Pakistan has taken help from IMF 24 times. Because of this, there is hope for mineral economic recovery. But without benefits to local people and political support, the projects will remain unsafe. Pakistan was a ‘hedge’ in Trump’s anti-China strategy, but now it is being weakened due to security risks. While Pakistan and China remain CPEC and ‘all-weather’ friends, Pakistan is playing a two-sided game. Without dialogue, development and power-sharing, these minerals may remain buried in the ground.

In Pakistan’s Balochistan province, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) carried out major suicide attacks simultaneously in many cities and towns. About 50 people lost their lives in these attacks, including at least 17 Pakistani security personnel. After the attack, BLA has released photographs of two attackers, both of whom are said to be women.

According to BLA, one of these women has been identified as 24 year old Asifa Mengal. She was a resident of Nushki area of ​​Balochistan and was the daughter of Mohammad Ismail. He was born on 2 October 2002. The organization claims that he had joined BLA’s Majeed Brigade on his 21st birthday and had decided to become a suicide bomber in January 2024. BLA says that he attacked the ISI headquarters in Nushki. The name of the second female attacker has not been revealed yet. A video has also gone viral on social media, in which she is seen with her friends before the attack. In the video she is seen criticizing the Pakistani government.

Major operation of Pakistani security forces

According to Reuters report, after these attacks, Pakistani security forces launched a major operation. According to Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, security forces took action for about 40 hours and killed more than 140 terrorists. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has also said that female attackers were involved in the attacks. According to the Pakistani government, the attackers entered schools, markets, banks and hospitals in civilian clothes and opened fire there. These attacks started on Friday night and continued till Saturday. There were reports of attacks in areas like Nushki, Gwadar, Chaman, Hub, Nasirabad and Makran.

Balochistan, the largest poor province of Pakistan

BLA said that this is the second phase of their campaign Herof i.e. Black Storm. At the same time, Pakistani Army says that terrorists were not allowed to capture any city or important place. Balochistan is the largest but poorest province of Pakistan. Violence has been going on here for many years. Baloch organizations have been demanding more rights and share in natural resources for a long time.

Who is in command of the group?

• The command of this Lashkar-ISKP fidayeen group has been handed over to Lashkar commander Abu Huraira, who is active in India since 2021.
• The deputy commander is Mohammad Omar alias Rabbit, who is active in India since 2022.
• A prominent terrorist included in the group is Abu Dujana, who is a resident of Chichawatni, Punjab, Pakistan. He was trained by Lashkar in 2018 and in 2024, at the age of 18, he was infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir.

Where were these 12 suicide terrorists trained?

The training of these terrorists took place in different years in Lashkar’s Abdullah bin Masood camp in Muzaffarabad (PoK) and Mosque Omar bin Khattab in Forward Kahuta. Abu Dujana and Umar Lone became friends during training in Baramulla in 2018. Umar Lone was killed by security forces in Bandipora in June 2024.

What is ISI’s strategy?

Investigation by intelligence agencies has revealed that-

• After Operation Sindoor, in May 2025, ISI had ordered to stop all the activities of Lashkar for a short time and to keep the terrorists low profile.
• In August 2025, PoK Sector Commander Brigadier Faiq Ayub (known as the Butcher of Punjab) held a meeting with top Lashkar commanders Saifullah Sajid Jatt and Huzaifa Bakarwal.
• In the meeting, orders were given to include 10-12 fidayeens in ISKP and to carry out attacks through them, so that Pakistan’s ‘deniability’ (ability to deny) remains intact.
• This module was created with the help of Huzaifa Bakarwal, resident of Rawalpindi, and Nazim-e-Aala Rana Ashfaq of Lashkar. Huzaifa Bakarwal is currently running this group.

ISI made strategy of joint module

According to retired Colonel Shailendra Singh, defense expert and advisor to the Global Counter Terrorism Council, India had decided after the Pahalgam attack that every terrorist attack would be considered an act of war. Only ISI can make the strategy for the joint module of Lashkar-Islamic States. It is Pakistan’s compulsion that despite the presence of terrorist and commander Lashkar in the new strategy, the name will be ISKP.

We will get freedom by cutting the neck of Hindus

After this joint module became active in Jammu and Kashmir, Lashkar has again openly threatened India.
