Former Pakistan Test captain Mohammad Hafeez has requested the PCB to send the Pakistan team to play the World Cup. Former chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board Khalid Mahmood and former secretary of the board Arif Ali Abbasi also reiterated the same thing. Abbasi said that the decision to support Bangladesh was understandable, but what does boycotting the World Cup have to do with it.

Abbasi said, “What about the relations with Sri Lanka? Obviously, if Pakistan does not play, Sri Lanka will have to suffer because all the matches of the Pakistan team are to be held in Sri Lanka.” On the other hand, Khalid Mahmood also said that PCB should focus more on Pakistan cricket.

Mohsin Khan, a former test batsman and chief selector of Pakistan, said that even if relations between India and Pakistan are not good, the Pakistani team is already going to play all its matches in Sri Lanka.
